Lanyard Template Design using Adobe Illustrator

This tutorial demonstrate how to design an actual size lanyard template by using Adobe Illustrator.
The specification of the lanyard in the tutorial is 950 mm (L) x 20 mm (W).

How do I add image in this? Like a PNG or sth. I wanted to place some symbols in our lanyard but it was covered by the lacee what to do??
