    Instructor Zero explains why training specific skills sets on the range translates into skills on the field. He explains the importance of developing bio mechanic memory and why you don't necessarily need to "check your six" each and every time when spending hours on the range.

    Mixed feelings on this one... he is right in theory... its not speed, movement, and accuracy. Its shoot, move, communicate, and slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Speed, surprise, and violence of action. these are the steppingstones to perfection as an operator. Like you said, "100 times" :train as you fight" correct. but these are the simplest things taught to basic Infantry. Battle Drill Definition: A collective action, rapidly executed, without applying a deliberate decision making process. i.e. muscle memory. Is this guy Romanian....? Accent is close but cant place it... either Slovak, Hung, or Rom. no disrespect, good on you brother. but you could have made a much better video to represent NATO/OTAN SOF...

    He's right. Weight lifters focus on different body parts. They don't exhaust the entire body, everyday. As a former wrestler, we would perform different drills, for instance, by spending the day focusing on takedowns. We may drill for 8 hours and never work on our ground game.

    How to train like an operator:
    1. Capitalize Operator.
    2. Take lots of pictures.
    3. Black out all the faces.
    How to be an Operator:
    1. Always look cool.
    2. Never get lost.
    3. If you get lost, look cool doing it.

    "Be like water my friend..." I recently came to here of (0) as I began researching advanced ICS (Israeli Combat Shooting); what was revealed from behind the vail was an ever evolving system. I've since absorbed an array of modules: LAHNERT tactical; SPARTAN360; IPTT( having been a student of the HAGANAH, I'm more prone to these ideals) and Leagallyconcealed: EJ Owens. All different yet uniquely functional; for me (1) DRY FIRE (slow is pro), (2) Scenario visualization (OODA); (3) Range: #getoutandshoot. I hope this will help the average person pursue astronomical, through coherent training. I've benefited from your channel, Thank you.

    I could not imagine people criticizing this guy. He makes a lot of sense, if you can understand him. Just kidding Zero, but subtitles wouldn't hurt. If people are criticizing Zero, they are probably not in or have ever been in spec ops and probably type more than shoot. I heard James Yeager gave Zero negative comments but not 100% sure. If he did, probably its because its messing up Yeager's tactical response training business. In my opinion, Instructor Zero has way more knowledge and better info than Tactical Response. I have found zero negatives in training techniques with Zero and its about 50/50 on training info with Tactical Response.

  • @mrdark9916

    For those who don't speak Zero, he is basically saying that in training many skills seperately and independently, they are easier to master and then easier to apply in conjunction with one another. Which increases your overall effectiveness.
    Like working out, for example, you focus on certain muscle groups on certain days, but over time your entire body becomes stronger BECAUSE those separate groups all work together in sync to achieve that result. By simplifying actions, they become easier to master and obtain muscle memory for, and then they will all be able to act together simultaneously and more effectively.
    It all needs to be mastered seperately before they can be mastered simultaneously. Crawl, walk, run.

  • @magerius

    Mechanic memory ? truth... but i think you ment Muscles Memory ! your body move and react all by itself. without your brain to tell them the order. because you got so used to it , your body (muscles) know exactly how to place it-self and react !
    this notion is exploit in sports too !

  • @danjbateman
    @danjbateman 10 лет назад

    I understand what he's saying, even in martial arts, for me kendo, we practise techniques and specific mechanics of our art and fighting style a lot more than 'real fighting' practise. In kendo there is a general guide that you should do a minimum of 45 minutes technical practise to every 15 minutes real fighting practise.

    Yes, if all you need to do in your day is go to the range and do speed drills "100 an 100 times" you might be saving some time by not adding a scan. But if you are like most professionals that have 1000s of other things that need training and doing other than shooting fast - you need to add a scan into the limited range time you have. Target fixation under stress is real.

Any combat veteran will tell you that's not how it actually is and that's not the best way to train.

    • @RadTac
      @RadTac 9 лет назад +9

      Did it ever occur to you that they actually take care of their kit? Or maybe, since shooting is so important to them, that they have multiple sets of gear for testing? You missed the whole point of the video by the looks of your comment. What you see might be one useless drill, but whats happening is that they are focusing on a certain aspect of their training and eventually combining the pieces together to form an effective system of operation.

    Very good how you explain how it is beneficial to focus on training spesific areas of what makes a good shooter. The same applies to elite athletics aswell, you can't work on everything at the same time if you want to improve, you have to single out an area of your performance you might need to work on and then you work on it giving it full focus and this will improve the overall performance. Performance is based on the sum of all parts, and the best way to improve the sum is to improve each part.

    Good video. Having wrestled in high school, and done a variety of fighting-things since, his training philosophy makes a lot of sense. There were hours where all I did was spin around in circles with my chest on top of my training partner's back, learning how to get around his arms as I spun. It seems silly to do that when the goal is to put the opponent on his back and pin him, until the first time you sprawl on top of your opponent in a match and are suddenly behind them without thinking about doing it.
    It's the same thing with learning to block in muay thai, or how to move your feet while retaining balance. Practice and honing of individual skills enables you to later plug that skill into a skill set and have a more holistic response to an opponent. I would say in shooting that this also includes hours of practicing for the most detrimental situations that can occur during a fight, such as clearing malfunctions, shooting from your non-dominant side, and drills with "safe" guns to shoot and move at contact distances.
    It should really be a lifestyle. Even sitting in the living room, you can get an airsoft gun and gel-target to plug away shot after shot with your non-dominant side until grip, trigger-control, and sight-alignment(which changes a bit when you're shooting cross-eye dominant) all feel natural. Good lessons in this and other videos.
