I’m just sick of the same old tired narrative of “a good, hard working, virtuos black woman gets dogged out by her lazy abusive black husband or boyfriend, only for her to come out stronger in the end with an equally pious new man”. From all the “Madeas”, “diary of a mad black woman”, to “why did I get married” etc the narrative still prevails. Almost all his movies portray black men in a bad light because he has identified black women as his primary audience, and for some reason, black women just love seeing black men portrayed as weak and black women as strong, therefore he panders to y’all by dragging the black male image through the mud. The harm in this goes beyond entertainment, because a lot of people form their perception of black men from these movies and they eventually start to look at black men only through this prejudiced lens .
Tyler Perry is the worst kind of Hollywood hack. He makes Michael Bay look like Christopher Nolan 🙄
