These are top notch gliders probably with a glide ratio of 60:1, but I am wondering if they are experimental with two model jet engines powering them just enough to keep them flying but the real climax does to the gliding efficiency, Brilliant in every way.
Nope, they dumping water from inside the wings, they fill them up before they go up to give the glider more penetration and a higher top speed/range there are no engines, that is the sound of pure speed.
Thats, where the winch or a tow plane comes in, they are catapulted to about 300-1000m depending on setup and conditions and then glide via thermals waves or other meterological power sources. I think, a short try on google should get you some info on the details. Anyways one of the greatest hobbys out there even, if you dont have lions at hand...
Okay, so let me get this straight. For the entire existence of man, save the past 110 years, man couldn't fly. So, you celebrate this feat by doing so at eye level? It's a fun video, though! Thanks for posting!
Things like this are so much better without music.
Thank you for uploading the video without music :)
Really enjoyed the video . These pilots are very capable apparently but they also have to keep a eye out for lions .
And they have to look out for lion poop that smells of pepper spray - lol
Incredibly beautiful.
So much better without the stupid music .... I like the wind noise... fantastic.
Only wind noise and the stuff coming out of the back is the water ballast beeing dumped :D

I think I may try this one day.
they have a turbo like sound
So how do you start to fly them? They look fun.
2:10 What kind of glider is that? It's wings are thin but very long. You can see them bending up. That thing WANTS to FLY! ;-)
Thanks no music
So, if you pick any place on earth to fly, where would you go?
Calafate, Argentina :)

So, you didn't like the vid?
Hey, what was happening at 5:21?
Cool ;-) Dommage que le cameraman parle et que son cabochon d'objectif cogne contre le caméscope... ça gâche le son c'est bête.
spin
Do those things have jets on them?
