Yes Justin is absolutely elite with the running. Justin is great! Russell is way better getting to the red zone because he can check out of plays after reading the defense. Removing the fast slasher Diontae was criminal. It’s the combo of Diontae and Pickens and timely passing of the football that made Steelers dangerous on offense the last three games. Don’t remove 50% of the duo and then replace it with a WR who had 209 total yards receiving for a 17 game NFL season. That is inexplicable to do.
@mikep3455 Russell getting near or in the RedZone is minimal if we can't score TD's that's the issue with Russ the same issues he had with Denver he doesn't do enough to score at a high rate like he is being paid to do. To be considered a elite QB Russ need to do more and he is actually worse statically than Justin Fields. Russ is old and he isn't in his prime anymore what does Mike Tomlin really think he is going to get from a old injured 36 year old QB???
When did Justin Fields become a good red zone QB ? We didn't just become 30th since Wilson took over , Justin started and played more games than Wilson this year. Wilson was a excellent red zone QB last year in Denver. People forget we kicked 6 fgs in Atlanta to start the year off.
@earnestpope581 see this part right here gets me pissed, because you're making an asine statement without acknowledging the stats go look for your self and see that Justin Fields stats is better in the RedZone and compare that to Russ. Numbers don't lie.
Thank you for always coming through with the best content on RUclips ! Whether afternoon drive or morning rush I never miss one ! Can you please speak to what you think the Steelers record will be with these remaining games ? Thank you guys for all the great content ✊🏾
Appreciative of the perspective and research by you Alan, but this kind of conclusion is almost more worrying in a sense. If we can easily point the finger at redzone troubles that makes it feel like we only need a couple tweaks to take the next step. But coming to the understanding that an improved redzone offense would barely make us that much better just makes you wonder, what the hell is the problem? If it's the case that it's really not that bad, then why does it FEEL so bad? What step does this team need to take for us to feel confident against teams like Philly and KC?
You can’t have the cheapest paid wide receiver core out of the 32 NFL teams and expect excellence! You can’t trade the WR1 from the past four seasons and also let the tall veteran WR3 from last season leave and expect excellence! You can’t replace them with Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin for 4 quarters and expect excellence! The details are always missing from the Steelers offense discussions. The Steelers removed two of the three starting wide receivers from the team! The offense would be close to dominant if they kept last year wide receivers. Rudolph looked good with them. Russell Wilson is a better QB than Rudolph.
Love the data analysis. Addresses the issue without over blowing it
The RedZone offense is only bad under Russell Wilson, we didn't have this problem when Justin Fields was the QB

Hey Alan. Love your shows! Deep dive sometime on what it would take for offensive line to improve to top 10 level.

Do you think this offense can ever be a top 10 unit with Russ and Arthur at the helm?
I think our defense needs to do better in key situations
I think we are gunna see better offense soon najee gets going at this time of year
