    I've always thought that particular JEM in that color is one of the most beautiful guitars ever made. The white with gold hardware model is also a beauty

    All I can think of when I see / hear the name Ibanez is a memory of Twisted Sister. That SICK, REPULSIVE, ELCETRIC TWANGER! Also that color reminds me of those tiny mints my grandmother would put out at Christmas. Nice neat job on the re-fret Josh. Whomever wins this is going to enjoy it I am sure.

    I like the explanation on what glue he uses. I agree that super glue is not the best for re-fretting jobs which is why I think the neck is better than than when it came out of the factory. Love the tree of life inlay.

    Forgive my ignorance, but is there any reason to still be using nickel frets when steel frets are so much more hard wearing? I understand there's probably a cost difference, but is it that significant?

    • @Benderbot50

      some people prefer the tone of nickel-silver wire. If you've got a guitar that's already very bright I can understand being hesitant to go with SS frets.

    Hiya,
    May I enquire who edited this video? They made a few mistakes when assembling the film in order, or might I say not in order. The laying out of the frets then picked up by the tape and then back on the fretboard. Then, the frets were pushed, glued and hammered into their slots; then they were out again, having their tangs interrupted. Not whomevers best work.
    Apart from these points, this was a good video; thank you for sharing it.
    Stay safe, Steve...

    Those Indonesian-made guitars are getting better (assuming the wood is properly seasoned), but the fretwork is still bleh. I don't know if this is just what they're taught or what, but the bevel is waaaaayyyy too much. I imagine you all turned this into a fantastic guitar!

    And he just ruined and dinged up the paint in the Lions claw, by not stuffing a rag in there to stop the trem tension pulling the trem system down onto it and destroying the paint inside..
    300 quid mistake.
    I look in there whenever I buy a jem and ask for 300 quid off if there are any marks fromnthis.. That area is extremely difficult to refinish and you have to basically scrape fill and reshape it.
    Why work on a jem when you don't know the most basic shit about them?

    • @FrankFurther
      @FrankFurther Год назад +5

      Who on earth would care about dinged paint in the trem cavity? You would never notice it

    • @mixodorians12
      @mixodorians12 Год назад +1

      @@FrankFurther Yeah you would, most trem cavities are normally not painted or sculpted.
      On a RG it is just like a black hole.
      A jem is, and so it is standard practice to stick a rag in there, to stop that area being wrecked by the trem under tension.
      It isn't a area you would want to ding up as it is very hard to correct on 3000 quids worth of brand new jem.,that is now damaged and worth 2500 quid.
      If it is a dipped jem, you cannot fix it.

    • @NateBliss
      @NateBliss Год назад +2

      @@mixodorians12 That isnt a £2800 Jem ;) This is an indonesian premium jem. While still clearly a nice guitar, its a far cry from the Japanese ones.

      @daroldfuapse6178 Год назад

      Hmmm... yeah, he went through the trouble of taking the all hardware off the headstock but didn't put a rag under the bridge. Doesn't make any sense. He could have unhooked the springs in back, but then the bridge would just lift out and he wouldn't have to be levering it with the whammy bar.

    • @mixodorians12
      @mixodorians12 Год назад

      @@NateBliss I didn't say it was, lots (and PIAs) are worth 3000 quid plus.
      Mine (1989 ibanez VBK Jem777) is worth 6 grand.
      You devalue them by not protecting that area with a rag.
      It has been standard practice since the eighties, to do this on Jems.
      I mean how this is even a discussion now, is blowing my mind.
      The Internet will argue about anything.
