Esme is a great deal younger, compared to Kara when she started living on Earth with powers. Alex may not wish to control her daughter, but Esme has no control yet over her emotions or her powers. This is what Kara was simply trying to point out and Alex should acknowledge that.
tbh i thought it was the truth totem after it got activated, i thought it had its effects on alex so she just started saying anything that she thinks without caring about kara's feelings.
@Andrew Dilbeck I kinda feel the same sometimes. From the first episode when she freaked out when she used her powers. Then that one time Kara wanted to move to Metropolis and Alex got mad. She tends to guilt Kara anytime Kara tries to get her own life.
Well, on one hand, Alex has a point, she doesn't want her daughter to have to hide who or what she is, she wants her to be free. And on the other side, Kara also has a point, she just wanted to help Esme control her powers because she knows how dangerous they can be for herself and for others, I think what went wrong is that they were not very clear or were a little harsh
I think alex is too harsh on Kara, she experience being different having powers. And it not about her supressing who she really is being gay. Its totally different. I dint get her on this episode.
Ignoring the fight between Kara and Alex (which I am on Kara's side in), Alex's offended gasp when Kelly is telling her about the girl making fun of the chocolate roulade cracks me up every time.
you know who is an expert on how to help Esme with her power? someone of her species (dyralians?). i mean she aint the last of her kind if brainie had a funny story about a friend of his from back in the 31st century (a couple of episodes ago). just because Esme gonna mimic Kara power doesn't mean she is a Kryptonian. each alien she gonna meet with bring a different power and she gonna have to learn with each one of them at one point or another.
Far as I seen I think they should have taken a gentler approach by temperately nulling her powers and then gradually introducing them to her like exposure therapy I mean esme once nearly fell out of a building when she got to her room at first what kind wouldn't be scared of that and because of how esme has the power to minmic other powers I can only imagine how hard it is not to be overwhelmed by that especially when she's near more than one person who has powers I feel like esme would blossom in a inviroment that's controlled and degined to gradually give her the opportunity to stop and slowly learn about her powers in a way that is not overwhelming by to much at once and allows Esme time and to be able to take baby steps on her terms to learn to control her powers after all it's her powers she's ultimately the only one to be in charge of them all this is from what I seen on RUclips and my own opinion on that I would also give her a special bed because of how she could use her powers In her sleep by accident and something disasterous could happen just to make sure like bar minimum even if a marshian did come by while she was asleep that she couldn't phase through her before something e by accident while she is asleep because imagine how scary it is accidentally phasing through the bed while asleep would be like yikes esme needs care and understanding not push through it and everything be ok that's how it will only get worse
It's not you and she's ALWAYS been toxic to Kara. Always blamed her for everything that made her life oh so terrible. Couldn't go to Europe (a real first world problem), her dad chose to go undercover (not the fault of a child whose entire planet blew up), took alllllll the attention from her mom. Well, you adopt a child? Yeah, they get attention so they feel included, welcome. Like they matter. Alex wasn't the only rich kid of two rich parents anymore after Kara was placed with her parents, and she never stopped resenting her for it.
At the end of the day, Esme is Alex and Kelly child, and they make the decisions. Once Kara seen Alex wasnt interested, she should have dropped it but she think cause shes Supergirl, shes always right. Kara was wrong period! Not to mention, Kara basically told Alex she will never be able to connect with Esme like she can, completely out of line!!

I think Alex shouldn’t have been so harsh with Kara. She made good points. And Kara knows how it feels to have dangerous powers.

Agreed

Kara is right. Learning control is better than suppressing, but Esme is a little kid. Little kids aren't known for controlling their tempers.
Am I the only one who noticed Kara called Eliza and Jeremiah 'mum and dad' for like the first time
Alex went from a 1 to 8 real quick

The glasses Kara talked about about could help esmae in training and now with the last part of this episode she is like rouge from the x men
She’s the love totem now, and Lex has his hands on her.
Did kars just called Eliza and Jeremiah mom and dad

Supergirl is always right, Alex shouldn't speak to her like that.
She needed to apologize to kara for being so harsh.
Supergirl is definitely not always right, but she was this time.

They try much to hard in these episodes
Would you rather she doesn’t care about the child? Being a good parent isn’t measured in years

I don't think that group home was terrible
They literally punished those alien kids for making small mistakes with their powers. That group home is a horrible place for any child.
I mean I don't think that's it it's not like they where physically abusing them they where dempaing there powers in case they got out of control
