Yes, I'm watching a TV show from 1986, and haven't even considered clicking away and turning on today's television programs. Is there something wrong with me? The Memphis commercials are very entertaining, as I see businesses that no longer exist, and some that do. What a different world it was then.
The commercial at 3:18. Those "Wide Load" commercials with John McCormack. Listened to him on Rock 103 for around 15 years when I worked in Memphis. RIP Bad Dog.
Imagine if this territory survived into the 21 st century? Memphis could've been a NXT like developmental territory along with OVW, FCW and maybe relaunch ECW as a island onto itself.
This stuff is classic.i wish this aired in nyc back in the day,i've only read about the action from memphis & saw some of it on pro wrestling this week or pro wrestling usa but it was awesome.

Memphis was great back then, and it still is. If I had a DeLorean time machine, I would love to travel back in time to see those good old days of the 1980s.
March 24, 1986 in Memphis, TN Mid-South Coliseum drawing??? 1. Frank Morrell beat Keith Eric 2. Jos LeDuc beat David Haskins & Jim Jamieson in a “handicap match.” 3. Paul Diamond & Michael Lee beat Tony Falk & Pat Rose when Diamond pinned Falk. 4. Billy Joe Travis beat Abdul Gaddafi to win the CWA International Title. 5. Billy Joe Travis & Frank Morrell beat The MOD Squad via DQ. 6. Jerry Lawler & Dutch Mantel beat Bill Dundee & Buddy Landel (48:57) in 26 falls in a “Texas death” match.
I fucking love Jos Leduc...his eyes are amazing to watch...when they are slitted and glaring they look like they are moving around slightly in his face, when they are wide and angry they look like they're going to pop out of his head...crazy eyes...
What a disappointment BUDDY LANDELL ended up being in his prime, by his own admitted addictions. First, if some of you never saw LANDELLS promo shoot for his and Shawn Michaels match in Smokey Mountain WRESTLING for Michaels WWF Title or INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE, I'm hazy on which it was. But as I learned of BUDDY'S death 7 or so years ago I ran across that promo shoot for that match and honestly it was one of the greatest, honest and from the heart shoots I've ever seen. Some say just the angle he chose, others said it was no wrestling shoot promo whatsoever, and for a few minutes I was searching for the onions I had been cutting up but never found. He was genuinely being a man dealing with his DEMONS in his life through the previous few years before that moment, and looked finally like he had overcome his problems as he looked better physically than I've ever seen him. In early to MID 80s I saw him, as many others also did, as a joke of a character. That changed one night as the promotion in which he wrestled for came to my hometown of SALE CREEK TENNESSEE to do a few fundraising house shows for what I can't recall. Promotion company I can't remember, maybe AWA or UWF not sure, don't matter either way. Anyway, LANDELL and TENNESSEE VOL ALUMNI DOUG FURNACE were working together in a FEUD in which LANDELL had a broken forearm down to his wrist that FURNACE was I do believe was the culprit in which LANDELL had to wear that black brace, of course loaded with foreign objects to use as a weapon. But when I WITNESSED the talent that BUDDY had as a serious worker of the trade I became a fan of his and saw him as a TRUE up and coming Champion of some sort, somewhere if just only he would get into better condition physically. As I dug deeper into his life and career choice I was shocked that in THE NWA at the time MR RIC FLAIR was so impressed with LANDELLS skills and perfect work in the ring that FLAIR told BUDDY that he himself was going to lose THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP and let LANDELL start his Star status in the SPORT, WOW and WOW! But before their angle began, BUDDY revisited his past DEMONS and it was over as a TRUE WORKER with great talent and in RING performer self admittedely pissed it all away. And with another GREAT REDEMPTION STORY with Michaels around 5 to 10 years later came about he did that emotional promo shoot with I could tell it was a true confession of his failures and physically was in great shape. And as Jim Cornette stood by his side in the shoot blabbing and babbling in his usual ways, LANDELL promised his utmost RESPECT and PROMISED that the Match was going to be fair and square and turned to Cornette and warned him in a stern professional and honest truth that Cornette either abide or he would not be at his side. Of course the winner had already been determined, but what a freaking match! And in the end it came down to LANDELL being disqualified from Cornettes interference, but not?! Just watch it and know that BUDDY LANDELL in my heart was the greatest wrestling story never told. RESPECT.
When buddy got himself clean, he joined smokey mountain wrestling, his match with Shawn michaels is probably his greatest match, if not not a damn close one
The Monday night (03-24-1986) show at the Mid-South Coliseum after the Saturday TV show in this video was the final sell out that Memphis Wrestling ever had! The Texas Tornado match went 26 falls with Lawler & Mantell winning
45:17. That was awesome! I wish more people would do that. Your a ring announcer, not color. Couldn't stand how biased Lance was. Not to mention monotone.
3984 where is 3984 Elvis Presley is that 🚶 street in Memphis tenn oh my goodness 👌 ok OK my phone is not going too tell me??????Ohio is that right??????? Oh my goodness
I am looking at a television with a five 5 on the truth looking at wrestling two the city of Memphis championship wrestling news channels 5 in Memphis tenn on my cell 📱 phone in Augusta Georgia Howard Youngblood I talked two 2 some of these wrestling people in Knoxville tenn oh my goodness
Lance should have sold it better. Not impressed. He should have punched Lance & knocked him down then both Dundee & Landel put the boots to him for a bit until help ran out.Buddy never touched him so why are they threatening him?
Yes sir you are correct. Which brings me to the most shocking and beautiful sale from an announcer of all time, again I say, ALL TIME! Even though he couldn't put a decent 8 word intelligent, understandable call when he tried to even understand himself with a glossy eyed confused state of what the hell am I doing this for as TONY SHAVONNI by his side saving the day as usual with his great commentator skills not missing a beat whatsoever. Guess since his brother Jim was the owner of the organization he must've pissed and moaned so much that Jim Crockett said dammit DAVID try that and that's your only involvement here! But man I respected DAVID for taking that RUSSIAN Sickle that day from NIKITA KOLOFF like a man!, as Ivan and NIKITA finally got RIC FLAIRS BLOOD BOILING HOT TO TAKE A SHORT TIMED STORYLINE BETWEEN THEM. And the angle mostly came from the plane crash FLAIR AND CROCKETT were in that killed a few, can't remember how many, and it gave them a bond of friendship like no other. Kudos on your 15 minutes of fame for that DAVID CROCKETT and your hesitated involvement but GOLDEN SALE. RESPECT!
Anyone can say what they want to, concerning that slap to Lance Russell's face, from "The Superstar" Bill Dundee...but Lance Russell deserved to be slapped! I know it was an angle that they had incorporated into this whole situation, but Bill Dundee had already warned Lance Russell twice. Lance didn't know when to go "Dead Air" sometimes, though, and this time-WHACK!!! He caught a good one, right across the left cheek!
The idea of a constantly annoying heel manager was part of many territories. You had a rotating door in Memphis, Skandor Akbar split his time between Mid-South and World Class, there was Sir Oliver Humperdink in Florida before Kevin Sullivan started his "cult", J.J. Dillon and Paul Jones in Mid-Atlantic, the list goes on and on...
Jameson won a match? MORE THAN 1? did he PIN anyone? who did he beat? WHO? ive always viewed him as the jobber of all jobbers. if they made lists from 1 all of way to last id expect Jameson to be at the very very bottom up until this match
The best grudge match is no time limit no D Q the only way the match ends is by pinfall no submission just beat the hell out of them until you want to pin them

The Memphis commercials are very entertaining, as I see businesses that no longer exist, and some that do. What a different world it was then.
It was better.....
Exactly!
That appliance sale ends this Sunday folks, don't miss out. How I miss thee!
The commericals make this video even better love the old days of my youth lol
dutch mantell, in his interview gear, looks like he's in the olivia newton-john music video LET'S GET PHYSICAL. but it works for me!!!!
Tony Falk = owner of one of the longest losing streaks in the history of wrestling in Memphis.
Boy Tony was a wrestling machine! Lol
O yes he was a loser
@@marcuscompton3772 He was a good wrestler too.
Boy Tony 😂😂
A 90 minute Memphis area version of CWA Championship Wrestling is more memorable than most of Raw and AEW TV
The commercial at 3:18. Those "Wide Load" commercials with John McCormack. Listened to him on Rock 103 for around 15 years when I worked in Memphis. RIP Bad Dog.
John Oman McCormack was so dang funny!
I grew up watchin tv 5 wrestling and to me its what wrestling is posed to and always be

I was either too young or I didn't live in the Memphis at that time. But thanks to RUclips I get to watch these Memphis Wrestling classics
Agreed 👍
That dirty Rhodes segment was real good, heart 😢warming. He also plays a mean guitar 🎸
Austin Idol and Joe Leduc terrified me for the King everytime they rolled into the territory!

Would love to back....no cell phones, comp, etc. Technology isn't always better.
You wouldn’t have been able to watch this in 2021 without it.
I fucking love Jos Leduc...his eyes are amazing to watch...when they are slitted and glaring they look like they are moving around slightly in his face, when they are wide and angry they look like they're going to pop out of his head...crazy eyes...
We ran in to Joe Leduc at Sardis lake and he rode the boat with us while we waterskied. Never got him on the ski but he enjoyed the boat ride.
Work or not, Joe LeDuc was one scary guy. I'll never forget him slicing his arm open with the axe.

Paul Diamond later teamed with fellow wrestler Pat Tanaka and became a tag team, “Badd Company.”
Need to get Dutch Mantel and George Steel together for hair vs hair match. Those guys had lots of hair Rip George
This was before Diamond got juiced to the gills

Whats the difference in the WMC version and say Evansville? is the WMC version longer or is it just the promos for house shows that are different?
One month and 2 days after I was born
Great angle to create heat, love the Falk match
Lance Russell never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
🐐
Almost swear that is Steve Guttenberg in the Taco Bell commercial!😂🌮🎤🤼♂️B.W.
Damn, is that Taco Bell offer still good? Lol
Dante Goodman It would be fun to find out! They might call the police, lol.
Probably not. That is when they actually put real meat in the tacos

Sometimes opening bout, midcard and sometimes main event. He did whatever was needed and was great.
Lance should have sold it better. Not impressed. He should have punched Lance & knocked him down then both Dundee & Landel put the boots to him for a bit until help ran out.Buddy never touched him so why are they threatening him?

They were constantly trying to recreate a Jimmy Hart or a Jim Cornette
The idea of a constantly annoying heel manager was part of many territories. They succeeded when they got Downtown Bruno.
J.D. Costello looks like a dime store version of Jim Cornette.
Watching him makes you realize how good Corney actually was.
the wrestling is scripted but that angle of Dundee slapping Russell
was that scripted or real for wrestlers they sure make good actors.
"Bulldog" Morrell back as a wrestler.
Tony Falk: An arrogant heel jobber. Not many of those in wrestling history. Most just got squashed, left the ring, and that was it.
Dutch mantell. Thats not a hairy back, its a man back
Jameson won a match? MORE THAN 1? did he PIN anyone? who did he beat? WHO? ive always viewed him as the jobber of all jobbers. if they made lists from 1 all of way to last id expect Jameson to be at the very very bottom up until this match
Keith Erich can't fight his way out of a wet paper bag!

Love ya Tony😅
The best grudge match is no time limit no D Q the only way the match ends is by pinfall no submission just beat the hell out of them until you want to pin them
Sweet, #SCM
That Billy kid looks a little soft
My 2nd victory....lol
Easy for a wrestler to manhandle an announcer
