I started a month ago, love the job. I quit my job sitting on a computer and phone all day for this, love the energy, the push, the outdoors, not being stuck on a computer beaming blue light at you all day, , the money is less but enough for now.
Being an ex courier I actually enjoy watching these kind of videos but man I DO NOT miss the job. Running around like a lunatic all day and getting stressed isn’t the one 😅
I've been doing this job at the DBI2 depot now for nearly 6 years and I can honestly say I love it even the days when I sign in and see I've got 176 stops and about 40 of them are multi stops plus our routes are around 40 minutes away from the depot so I'm usually on the 10am wave load get to my area for around just after 11am start bang it out n most days as long as nothing goes terribly wrong I'm done for around 5 half 5 n on my favourite route I can get it done by 4pm also a tip don't just follow the route how amazon have arranged it you will end up on the same road 2 or 3 times I do the route in the order I want

If youre wanting to use that GoPro for longer mate, get a portable power bank and have that plugged into it, I know it’s a nightmare carrying it but, if you can find a comfy way of having it; you’ll be able to run the GoPro for hours at a time.

Hate the one time passwords lol. Amazon recently updated it so if they can't find the code, you can ask them for last 2 digits of their phone number which is a lot easier 👍
Iff the customer doesn't have the one time password code you can click the drop down menu which says help the code is wrong or customer doesn't have it and if the customer can confirm the last two digits of their phone number associated with the account then that works too

Its hard when a big move abroad doesn't go ya way though . I sold everything i had and moved to New Zleand in 2016 i soon realised it probably wasn't gonna be for me but when i eventually did get back to England i sulked for a very long time . Its a big thing leaving ya home country , family etc But this guy is younger and more postive all round than me though so he'll be fine :) x
If you dont mind me asking, do they pay you a fixed amount per day regardless of the route and number of parcels? Or is it an hourly pay so if it took you longer for whatever reason. Traffic, finding parking etc then you still get paid for that time.
it's a set day rate regardless of number or parcels/stops/time taken. They try to balance it out between how spread your stops are and how many you get, but most often the Amazon app will generate the worst heaviest impossible routes and you just have to double down and deal with it. A good manager will delegate people who are quicker or had better routes to help the people who are falling behind, but then you feel like a bell because someone else has to take on extra work because of you
@tristansayers6494 hmm, that's interesting. I work for a delivery company too, as a side hustle, not an amazon dsp just a startup delivery company in London. The company does something similar in that they calculate a route, but its not a fixed payment. What happens is they calculate the miles you'll drive for that route and the average time it should take you to deliver, and they pay you based on that. They also have a system where you can raise delays for things that were outside of your control. Like in london, you might need to park a few streets away at times to avoid getting a PCN. (Drivers are completely liable for their own parking tickets). These delays are then paid for, too. Problem is that they advertise the role online as 13 pounds per hour but really when you calculate the number of hours you worked versus the pay, it rarely comes out to that much, especially if you don't raise the delays properly. We also have "rescue" missions the way you mentioned. But we get paid for these separately so you don't feel guilty if a driver has to come and rescue you
How does it work in the UK? I mean does Amazon employ drivers and send them in amazon's vans or you are all guys employed by dsp's working in partnership with Amazon?

Yes indeed! Very rusty. But also it was a big range of area of different farms far apart so it took a little while! Appreciate it.
Worked with Amazon in Dublin 2 years ago and before I left nursery routes had become similar to full on routes in most cases. Don't miss it at all.

I’m currently an Amazon driver (Plymouth) on average we’re going 180-190 stops a day 300-360 parcels, it’s so stressful but you get used to it 😂
Looks a damn site more organised than the other big parcel company, they just expected you to load them in postcode order, crazy job...

Yes , the latter. Sign up with a DSP and they'll be allocated particular postcode areas to serve/ deliver to.
