A Boss So Bad It hurt me... [DARK-SOULS]

  • "A Boss so unconventional that it deals IRL damage..." A one of my lovely viewers put it... Yeah, Bed of Chaos is the worst boss of Dark Souls... And Lost Izalith might be one of the worst areas in DS1. I like how this area made TOMB OF GIANTS seem not so bad after all... I'm impressed...
Anyways, I know you guys are fans of my suffering and there is a bit here... But to be clear, I'm not an angry person. In fact most of my pain was internal, both mentally (due to rage)... and physically, Due to the Sickness I got from this boss... Yes, I actually damaged my vocal cords during this recording...
Speaking on the final thoughts at the end of the video, AGAIN I DON'T HATE THIS GAME, but I'm REALLY let down by how much the ending areas were rushed & wasted... The late game was the part I was looked forward to the most, but it turns out that was a mistake. I feel like knowing that these areas were half-baked and seeing how they ramped up the frustration as a last ditch & last second effort to "Fill and Complete" these areas just makes me sad and it nullifies the experience of overcoming these areas because the difficulty wasn't earned, it wasn't a good, thoughtful or engaging challenge/Experience. But just Copy and Paste Enemies, shoddy platforming, and taking away the players senses to make things "Difficult". (I feel like if you described these areas to non-players they would think you're joking...) These areas felt more like out of touch pranks/jokes...

Getting sick for Dark Souls suffering it's on another level. And even on those conditions, you manage to keep the montage on a pretty awesome level.

This comment keeps bothering me every time I revisit this comment section, I Didn't blame the game for that? WHERE did you get that from? (Please DON'T put words in my mouth or Speak for me!) The entire after section was me just getting MAD at the Asshole design of the boss & just me losing my patience with how ridiculous it was. (A Boss that the Literal game director said was his biggest regret in ds1 and LITERALLY Apologized for!) I was annoyed by It, but not shifting the blame. If you watched the video you would've realized I already saw the fire spots and what they do, So Obviously I would try to avoid them, But I was so swamped (intended pun) by all the bullshit that I didn't even have time to think about the flames...

Do you plan on playing the other 2 games after this?
or is this just a singular event.
also in terms of unfair difficulty and crap, while the later games are more polished (as someone whos played these games a lot)
ds2, 3, and especially elden ring, have very similar awful enemy placement problems but in an even more aggravating extent because on those games the enemies are also much harder to fight and have in depth movesets.

I'm doing DS1> DS3> Elden Ring>Sekiro. I started this series because I wanted to play Elden Ring and I didn't want to skip the entire souls series, but I am going to skip ds2. I was told to play ds3 (all my friends and family recommended it only), but I wanted to give the OG a chance (AND DAMN what a mistake that was).

I think the devs knew this boss was shit (it and the entire demon ruins area is pretty much unfinished due to time restraints) because you don't have to start from the beginning every time you die from the jank

I'm pretty sure Miyazaki literally apologized for Bed of Chaos, it was without question the point hit hardest by the game's deadline. I think it's a real shame too because I can see an extremely interesting boss poking through the cracks, if it just had more time in the oven I think it would have been awesome

I HEAVY get you on the frustration. I can understand the love ds1 gets (espcially for the time) but on all 3 of my playthroughs I was kinda slugging past bosses and areas towards the second half and the main thing keeping me going was my pyromancy/build(alongside the fact i had to review it). I saw a comment on here saying the dlc is better and they aren't lying(kinda, the ice dlc is kinda simple imo but the artorias ones pretty good). I don't think it makes up for this end half your in but its pretty solid. Hope you can tough it out till then because otherwise the game will probably end on a low note for you.

Isn’t the “ice dlc” the painted world of ariamis? That was part of the base game just incredibly hidden through the peculiar doll

After like 2.75 playthroughs this game has really grown on me, but I HATED dark souls 1 the first time I played it, I went from feeling relieved that the game was over to genuinely wanting to start a new build after my last playthrough. It is fun but I definitely think it's the weakest game in the series, Artorias of the abyss was definitely the peak, but I still think it suffered from allot of the same problems I had with the rest of the game, it would have been so much better if they could have actually finished the second half, but I don't think that would have fixed everything

I personally think you can just play until you get the Lordvessel. Everything after that is either unfinished, bad, or not really worth going through all the other stuff that is. Go do the DLC instead.

  • @S4B3R117

It's a shame you didn't play Demon Souls first so you could appreciate how much an improvement DS1 was lmao, I get you on the jankyness, tho you kinda have to love the game because of them a little bit. I'd say play through again now that you know what to do and really blast through the game in a couple hours, it's a genuinely fun game if you can get over chain-dying to jank 15 times in a row. That being said, the DLC is really good, if weird to get to (just look it up)
Also, I'd rec playing the games in order of release, they borrow a lot from each other and you get to see the progression of them with Elden Ring being the culmination of decades of work

In regards to ds2 I actually watched 2 playthroughs to get my ds fix when I'm not able to play, fighting cowboys was fun to watch. So i've been spoiled on the whole game, I even watch a 100% playthrough where a ds veteran shows all items and tips that fighting cowboy missed, (So I saw those too) my favorite part was both lets players just eventually and slowly end up ranting and complaining about the game over time.

DS1 desperately needed a rework and the remaster was such a missed opportunity to address the issues the original game had. We lost out on a chance to see a fully realized Lost Izalith or a reworked Tomb of the Giants in exchange for a quick cash grab
