    Looks like the perfect beer for a hot day! I think I’ll be brewing more NZ pilsners this year, and this one sounds fantastic. Cheers!

      Thanks. It doesn't last long in the glass haha. Nectaron and Superdelic are another couple of NZ hops I might look at using. You'll be hanging out for some warmer weather to brew up some Pilsners I bet. Cheers mate 🍻

    Another first class beer Dino and I especially liked the colour, it looked so refreshing.
    I am a convert to the Nova Lager yeast. I have found it usually gets my lagers down to 1.008/7 which I love as I am not over fond of too much sweetness in the flavour. It may not finish as crisp and clean as some lager yeasts but it can cope with variations in temperature which for me is great as I don’t have a glycol chiller.
    Well done sir👍👍👍

      Thanks mate. Yes the Novalager is a great all round yeast and as you mention, very forgiving especially with it's fermentation temps. I've used it at both 18c and 15c and both worked well. I hope your brewing is going well. Cheers 🍻

    No one can argue with a nice & simple recipe yielding such a wonderful beer. Perfect for a hot day. I like Carahell. Got some on hand for a future lager. The hops coming out of NZ are amazing. Check out the Beersmith video, No. 283, from last year on NZ hops w/ Stan Hieronymus if you haven't already. Cheers!🍺

      Thanks Skid. I'm definitely still riding the Pilsner train at the moment. Looking forward to tasting the Nelson Pilsner next. Thanks for the heads up on the video. Nectaron and/or Superdelic might be a couple of good candidates for another Pilsner. Cheers mate 🍻have

    Here in the Philippines i have just put a SMaSH pilsner in my chiller at 18c with Riwaka hops and i reuse the Novalager yeast this will be my 3rd brew from the 1 packet going nuts on day 2

      Brilliant! Riwaka is so good! That's awesome that you're getting great results reusing the Novalager. It does take off nice and quick! Cheers mate 🍻

    Good one Dinoz 👍
    I have had some great results from Novalager yeast, easy to use, been a hybrid yeast Ale/Lager yeast you get some biotransformation and treat it like a Ale yeast at 18c . Best of all you only need 1 packet of yeast 👍.

      Great idea and suggestions. Nectaron did cross my mind, but a noble hop might be worth a crack too. Cheers Tim 🍺

    Looks good! Do you think the lime characteristics of Motueka have dulled in recent hop years? I made a Mexican lager with Motueka in late 2020 that had a big punch of lime, like the first sip out of a bottle after removing a lime wedge. But I've tried to reproduce it several time over the last three years, but the Motueka isn't giving near the lime flavor/aroma as the first time. The recent versions are like your descriptions: more tropical and floral. You really have to dig to find much lime. Thanks for the video!

    • @tubedinoz
      @tubedinoz  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Yes, I totally agree with you. I got a little bit of lime on the nose, but I didn't really get it in the flavour. Like you say you might have to dig deep for it! It's definitely a more subtle hop than what I remember from years back. It's still very enjoyable in the Pilsner, but quite delicate if that's the right word. Bring on the Nelson Pilsner next! Cheers 🍻

    Another home run, mate. I think the flavour profile of this one sounds even better than the riwaka version. Which one do you prefer? I agree with carahell. I have used carapils and carahell with kit brews and think both aid in head formation and retention but as you said, carahell adds a bit of colour and flavour. Cheers!

      Thanks. Can't get enough of these Pilsners. Both the Motueka and Riwaka turned out well, but I think I like the extra hop intensity you get from the Riwaka. Keen to taste how the Nelson stacks up next. Good to hear you've been using the Carahell. Cheers mate 🍻

    how would u rate nova lager yeast in comparison to w34/70 in these nz pils ?

    • @tubedinoz
      @tubedinoz  7 месяцев назад +1

      It's been a while since I last used w34/70, but I'm really impressed with the Novalager, especially its ease of use and variable temperature range. So far it's finished nice and low gravity wise and very clean. I have seen someone else write that they think that w34/70 gives a crisper finish. All I can say is I'll continue to use Novalager. Cheers
