When I got a phantom 3 in 2015, and started watching stuff about that to figure it out. I often came across your content. Now I get a Schwinn and want to set up Zwift, low and behold first thing I come across is Irix Guy!
Woohoo! You da man :). If you have any IC4 questions please ask and I have the iC4, mat and more linked within this video’s description. Man, Phantom 3 days were the days! The tech was still new but advanced at the same time and there weren’t too many drone regulations back then.
In the Zwift App is detects the IC4 bike via Bluetooth! BTW, should you buy an IC4 and/or accessories, please consider shopping my links within this video's description. Thanks in advance and thank you for the kind words! #IC4
Thanks for the great set of videos on the Schwinn IC4! It was extremely helpful. I bought the same setup based on your review except I’m using Apple TV 4K to run Zwift on the big screen.
Thanks and please subscribe to my channel and check out all of my other IC4 videos too! If you decide to purchase one, I have the mat, IC4 and accessories all linked within this video’s description. Thanks in advance!
The Schwinn IC4 has a huge drawback with Zwift - the Watts output is totally inaccurate. That's the reason Zwift doesn't officially support the bike. Typically the output massively inflates actual output. In other words, Zwift would show 400 watts, when actually the rider is only putting out 200 watts (confirmed by several people on the Facebook IC4 group who eventually added pedals with power meters - the Garmin Vector for example). Not only is the output inaccurate but it isn't consistent. So for example, at resistance like 20, the output might inflate by 10%, where at resistance like 50, the output might inflate 90%. Makes both races and structured workouts impossible. I'm hoping that Schwinn eventually has some type of solution
@@beeatoms Well, the IC4 does connect to Zwift and there is a power reported. It just isn't accurate. I was riding Zwift enough that I purchased an Elite Suito trainer and Favero Assioma pedals. Both of those agree quite nicely, and my FTP dropped about 100watts compared to the IC4. Went from winning A races to mid-B finishes.
@@williammitchell2252 how is it for training though? I'm not interested in racing (yet). could you still get a good workout despite the inaccuracies? and could you improve your cardio fitness despite this drawback?
Nice video man! That looks like such a great set up. I’d love to be able to stream it on my TV i just dont know if my tv is capable, i do have a smart tv
Would the same screen be available if you paired with an iPad? Or even broadcast that to your tv instead of needing a MacBook? Or how does your setup compared to just using the Apple TV 4K app?
Great questions! I’ve tried iPhone (with Airplay) and it looked great. With iPad, you MAY get black bars on the side. The Apple TV 4K app looks great too! A Windows or Mac system with high-end graphics is likely going to always produce the best visual results but it’s kind of overkill. My suggestion would just be to use iPhone and AirPlay it to a TV, if you want a “big screen” view.
thanks !!! your videos were instrumental in my deciding to purchase an IC4...I found it was simple and great with Peloton...but with Swift I had NO IDEA what levels of resistance to add or diminish to reflect the inclination or declination in the course. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I cannot see that Swift is a viable option, I chatted with their "support" and they basically just said the IC4 is not supported. Thank you in advance and thank you for these great and helpful videos.
Thanks so much for the kind words! Use Apple Fitness+ like I use now. It's a great experience but you'll need Apple Watch. Check out Peloton App if you don't have one or don't want to buy one. BTW...check out the mat and shoes too linked within this video's description, if you didn't already when you ordered the IC4. Thank you for your support! #IC4
Check out my Schwinn IC4 video playlist to find the assembly video. You can expand this video’s description and then click the link there to find the bike and mat like I use. I still need to add a video about the TV and playlist. Stay tuned for that!
All your videos are brilliant! Thank you for making them. Question, do I need to buy a speed sensor to use with this bike? I just bought it and seem to pedal like crazy but still only do like 5mph.
I checked out all your other IC4 videos. They are great! Can you please tell me the GPU you have? I am not familiar with GPUs. What kind of Macbook and year do you have? I have the Bowflex c6 which is identical to the IC4.
I used an eGPU with an ATI Radeon. Check out my separate video for that. It worked great but now I just use AppleFitness+ with my AppleTV and AppleWatch. Thanks!
Thanks for the interesting video!! I’m just wondering; what if you go uphill, I assume you add some resistance, but does zwift indicate how much resistance you need to add to simulate the uphill percentage or how does that work? I’m planning to pick up an ic8. Thanks!!
To simulate going up a hill, turn the knob in one direction. To simulate going down a hill, turn the knob in the opposite direction. It doesn’t do it automatically but quickly becomes second nature, just like changing the gears on a bicycle! ⚙️ 🚴
Yes and since I switched to Apple Fitness+, it’s the only app that I use. I like having my IC4 and other Apple Watch workouts tracked in the same place.
I use IC4 with Zwift and Peloton App and it pairs nicely with both. With that said, Apple Fitness+ is my new go-to cycling app for the IC4 and that only cares about my Apple Watch.
@@IrixGuy ok, but what sensor is built into the bike that allows it to pair with Zwift so that Zwift knows you’re actually pedalling? There must be a way for the bike to measure your speed/power and transmit it to Zwift…that’s what I was wondering about
I usually keep the bike between 30-40 for Zwift. On flat terrain within Zwift, the speed in the game seems to be within a MPH or so of what the display on the bike shows. However, declines and inclines within Zwift often make the speed grossly disagree.
@@IrixGuy Hey thanks again for reply, I had a great riding session by putting the power level at 35. Its is harder, but I get a good speed of about 18mph and I am able to keep up with others. by the way, I subscribed to your channel.
External GPU is likely not required. I have it for video editing and it’s nice because I can max out the graphics within Zwift (Zwift graphics look fine on iPhone or Apple TV 4K too....just not as detail-rich). I’ve put over 30 miles on it so far. The only minor complaint is that the handlebars move a little. That’s not an issue though because it’s not like I’m on a real road. The magnetic resistance is a game-changer and is so quiet and smooth! #IC4
@@JeremyQuinn I ordered mine from Schwinn two weeks ago this Thursday. I looked in every nook and cranny for it with no luck. I have my fingers crossed it gets sent early.
Ordered an IC4 from Dicks Sporting Goods and they shipped it next day. Supposed to arrive tomorrow - look on Dick’s website and they’ll show you delivery options. I didn’t want to wait 5-10 weeks either. Will update with my first impressions!
Understandable. I noticed during the early food shortage stages, the pandemic was forcing people to buy overflowing shopping carts of pizza rolls and Mountain Dew.

I think you can buy cheap external sensors to get it more accurate. It’s not going to be exact without spending 3k plus on a smart bike.

there's no power meter source with the bike?
