Quite true! Literary Bond adventures always have made mention about how he smuggles his weapon(s) around the world with him, but film Bond never has spoken once to our curiosity about this. Good one!
In Goldeneye for example, Bond just pulls his pistol from a pocket inside his jacket when Jack is being a smart ass and in a lot of other Bond movies, Bond pulls his handgun from the same pocket so I always assumed his pocket is shielded so he can bring his pistol where ever.
5:32 Fun Fact: Timothy Dalton was actually the first person to drop an F-Bomb in a Bond film. When Kara is driving onto the plane in 'The Living Daylights', he mutters a "Fucking Hell" (or something like that). Sadly, the roar of the plane's engines and the thickness of the plane windows means his words are inaudible. So does that render it invalid? Perhaps.
Since GoldenEye is your favorite Bond film, I can't believe you didn't include the deleted scene with Valentin Zukovsky and the counterfeit arms dealer. That's a great scene that makes Zukovsky just look like a total badass and also gives his "Walther PPK" line a bit of context.

Totally agree with you on Gupta. Why the hell did the director go through the trouble of getting Ricky Jay if in the end he wouldn't showcase precisely what he hired him for. There were no scenes of Plenty actually going to Tiffany's home. When Plenty returns to Bond's room, there would have been an insert shot of Tiffany's driver's license (with her home address) in Plenty's hand. Then, later, when Plenty is found in the pool, Connery's line about her looking for Tiffany was supposed to fill in the gaps for the audience. My guess is that even this Plenty/Tiffany connection was seen (rightfully) as convoluted and tenuous so it was decided to simply let Connery's piece of dialogue stand as the vague explanation of the whole thing and move on.
Maybe it's weird to say this, but one scene I wish was left in the movie is the 5 second clip of the Aston Martin DB5 at the funeral of Sir Robert King in TWINE. It's always lovely to see that car on screen, and I'd totally buy it that Bond would arrive at a funeral in the DB5.
I personally think it would have been really cool if Connery stayed on for OHMSS, but then left, and Moore started off with DAF, hunting down Blofeld. That would be an awesome kick-off.
Wish that License to Kill deleted scene of Bond in his hotel was kept in the movie. I love those little scenes showing Bond and his lifestyle. Such as the scene in Dr No where he returns to his hotel room and relaxes to drinking some vodka.
I think the most crucial deleted scene (albeit relegated to your non-released footage mention) would have been the scene directly following the casino scene in The World Is Not Enough. Bond has been ordered by M specifically not to sleep with Elektra and Bond tells her “This is a game I can’t afford to play” and then Boom, they cut to them in bed together... wtf?! I think it was absolutely essential to the plot to include a cool “Dr. No/Tomorrow Never Dies/Casino Royale esq” scene of Bond sitting alone in the dark in Elektra’s mansion with his suppressed Walther P99 waiting to see what freaky assassin Reynard is going to send to try and kill her, and she sneaks downstairs past Gabor and seduces Bond in a slinky night gown. To see Bond resist for a moment and then give in to Elektra’s superior seduction skills would have completely added to her character by showing that this was her “superpower” so to speak, and it would have sorted out what I consider to be the most glaring plot hole in that film! I think there actually is footage of it somewhere of them kissing on a staircase. Such a shame it was not added. Think the sex scene on the stairs in the Thomas Crown Affair. It would have been gold!
Diamonds are Forever already has a convoluted plot as it is and leaving those Plenty scenes on the cutting room floor just further complicates an already convoluted plot. I remember watching the movie with my friends a couple of weeks ago and having to explain the gaping plot hole of how Plenty wound up dead in Tiffany's pool. I also was shocked that a huge Goldeneye fan like yourself left out the scene with the gun dealer at Zukovsky's club. The scene was very amusing and even Martin Campbell regrets not including it in the final cut.
I whole-heartedly agree that the cutting of the hotel room scene of Bond in "Licence to Kill" is an absolute loss to the overall film. I think that what it does is gives us as the audience an even greater sense of what type - of individual Bond has pitted himself against: a man who wields celebrity as well as just his viciousness and his narcotics empire. Sanchez was supposed to have been such a strongman of this fictionalized Central / South American country, one man with such undisputed power with his hands in literally everything but, other than one scene whereas we see him paying off the President, I never truly got that sense in the film that he was. This scene restores that. Additionally, such a scene also gives us an opportunity to be reminded of Felix ' s lighter and furthermore bring it on home as to what Bond was attempting to accomplish and against whom this time on Sanchez ' s own turf. It was a perfect scene for Dalton's Bond; the angry glare, the smoking and drinking and the cocking of his PPK were all perfect. I think all of "Licence to Kill's" deleted scenes should have remained. Throughout the ensuing years, I always thought that there were several plot holes in the film that I learned had some answers in the deleted scenes.
there is a scene in "the spy who loved me" I think in which bond is being seduced and setup by a woman and he kisses her. When the assassin is about to shot bond she screams "NOOO" and gets in the way killing herself for a guy she just met and kissed once and you think plenty is acting uncharacteristically for a bond girl?
I agree about your 80% on deleted scenes. I'm a music addict (classic/progressive rock mainly), and I was way over the moon when older albums were starting to come out compact disc. A vinyl record can get you a couple of minutes over 40, but a CD can handle up to 74 minutes. So I was thrilled to get my fave music in a clearer and cleaner sounding format with new music added! Well, there's a reason why directors shoot way more than what is needed. It's the same reason why bands record more music than what is needed. I listened to a lot of this from my fave bands and came across no songs that should replace anything from the original album releases. In general, they are all highly paid professionals (actors / musicians / directors / producers / engineers / mixers, etc...). They know what they are doing or they wouldn't have lasted in their highly paid but highly risky careers.
This has to be my new favorite channel. I'd love for you to do a video on the men who were almost Bond. Those who auditioned, screen tested, were considered, who you would have liked to see, etc.
If the criterion is, which ones are essential for the film's integrity, the #1 must be Plenty, especially the bit where she comes back after being thrown out of the window, because that connects her to Tiffany. We the viewers can fill in the rest. Of the others, the best are the ones that add colour to the movie, such as your #1 Gupta and the one where Bond watches Sanchez on TV while using Leighter's lighter. My favorite of the lot is Bond being released from the Paris police. I would have left out the Pantherish burning of eyebrows but kept in the part where he signs with acid and the page burns as he leaves, a nice touch.
I've always been disappointed that the criminally under used Ricky Jay was robbed of doing some card throwing as Henry Gupta. Never knew was actually a deleted scene. Thanks you.
I'm amazed by the amount of deleted scenes in the Franchise. I started a little dossier one year ago, and my team and I have already discovered over 100 sequences... Damn! Shame that everything isn't included on DVD.
Calvin, it started working not long after my reply last night. Thanks for checking. And by the way, get back on those MI6 boards, we enjoy your participation.
I absolutely agree about those Plenty scenes in Diamonds Are Forever. Until I first heard of them, it made no sense to me how she went to Tiffany's place, and what James meant by: "That was supposed to be you."
I'm given to understand (don't know if it was in any deleted scenes) that Stamper in TND was originally intended to have his pain and pleasure centers mixed up, so he felt pain as pleasure and pleasure as pain. It's in the novelization, but didn't make it into the movie, and was modified to use with Renard in TWINE.
You're in for a treat when you read TLD. I agree with most of your points in the vid. The cricket footage looks OK and adds to the pre-credit story, but I agree that it was right to remove it in favour of the sparser edit, one of the best sequences in a Bond movie, IMO. I want a novella from Plenty's POV leading up to her demise! One thing about the DAF deleted scenes - for some reason, Connery really does look a bit old in them. Maybe that was part of the reason they were cut? Maybe they could have included the last couple of seconds of SDJ's scene in DAF. I feel like that about a few of these scenes - they could have used a couple of seconds rather than trash the lot. For example, the Dalton magic carpet ride might have been OK if it was just a few seconds long. Yeah, I like scene with Bond drinking in his room, and I agree that it has shades of Fleming. I always liked the deleted scene from LTK in which Lupe sneaks Bond out as he grips onto the side of a speed boat. I like that scene and it's a good example of Dalton doing his own stunts.
rhydermike I loved the Dalton magic carpet ride. It's just the kind of flamboyant thing Bond would do, in any incarnation(yes, even Craig). They should've kept it in. I mean, it's not as silly as the hoverboat gondola or the jetpack.
+Calvin Dyson, thanks very much buddy! :) I know a lot of your fans interested in one of those countdowns but I think you and me both know the obvious pick for no.1. But still I'm very interested to see your other nine, and of course your honourable and dishonourable mentions. Thanks again!
The guy who plays Gupta wrote the book Cards as weapons. Plenty O'toole was played by Lana Wood sister of Natilie Wood who was married to Robert Wagner who on Hart to Hart was married to Stephine Powers aka Tiffany Case in the same movie.
I tend to agree that the scene from number five onward were generally worthy of being in their films. I particularly don't get why they didn't add the jaguar scene to Tomorrow Never Dies since it only lasted a few seconds. the deleted scenes from License to Kill and Diamonds are Forever on this list also would have improved the films or at least have filled in some plot holes. However, being the Dalton fan that I am, every time I see that magic carpet scene I become happier it wasn't included. Maybe I would have enjoyed it had this been another Moore film.
I remember watching your review of TWINE and you mentioned how we never got to know what happened to Valentin. I saw somewhere on the internet mentioning that in a deleted scene Bond checks his pulse and he is dead. I don't know whether or not that's true but I hope that you reply or upload a video about it.
Why did you not mention the deleted oil field scene from The World Is Not Enough ? because it was a really good scene that added allot to Elektra King's character
You scared me there Cal, in the Dalton scene where you said, James Bond Jacket off. In America we don't use the term wanking, we use the term "Jacking off" and so, I had a good laugh over that. Yes, I agree that scene would have been better left IN!
I enjoyed watching this video. The deleted scene in "Diamonds are Forever" shows that some plot holes aren't plot holes. Things can happen "off camera". Considering Plenty O'toole was thrown off a hotel balcony and missed being killed thanks to a chance landing in a pool jealosy seems the least likely motive for her to face Tiffany. A change for some payback seems a probable motive. It is an irony that a pool saved her and a pool killed her.
It's certainly a shame that the Ricky Jay scenes were taken out. Perhaps if they were left in we may even have been able to play as a card throwing Gupta in "Nightfire".
The best parts of Diamonds: the white cat, the theme song, Shirley Bassey singing it, and various bits and pieces. The plot always confused me. Oh yeah I liked the car on 2 wheels bit, too
The worst continuity error in all movies ... [Diamonds Are Fovever] The car goes into the alleyway on two wheels - I think it was on the PASSENGER side, but comes out the other end of the alley on the WRONG SIDE. How that happened in a movie... someone wasn't paying attention to detail!
Very glad that the Sammy Davis Jr. cameo was cut. Was feeling a bit too much like 1960's Batman when the Caped Crusader and Robin would scale the side of a building and there'd be a new celebrity cameo looking out the window...In fact, I think Sammy did do one of those cameos. Just a bit too cheesy. Deleted scene I'd like to see released: Miranda Frost and 007 in hot tub scene from "Die Another Day". Reason: Rosamund Pike.
Dennis Fries I’ve seen stills from it. Not sure where they’re from, but they’re definitely of Mr. White in no location he’s in in the completed movie. So I think it was filmed. Never released, though. I’d love to see it.
It's a shame there isn't an option on the Blu-ray of DAF to add all the scenes back in,it also massive misfortune all the Bond movies are Cut/censored but I suppose the footage no longer exists.
originally as i posted elsewhere diamonds are forever was to have a gimmick.all the parts as its set mainly in vegas were to be played by vegas singers and entertainers!this was rapidly dropped early on but is how jimmy dean wound up in it and blofeld was to have been played by a famous singer whom i cant remember but who had cold feet at the 11th hour so charles grey was a very very late replacement .sammy davies jr was probably another who was part of the now discontinued gimmick.i think they had an idea to make it a bit like sinatras oceans 11 with real stars doing cameos etc thankfully wiser heads prevailed.diamonds was quite savagely cut and to this day the original movie has no explanation as to why lana wood is murdered.a lot of helpful exposition was cut apparently.
I'm not a huge fan of Goldeneye, it's certainly my favorite Brosnan film by far, but I agree it's got a wonderful ensemble of villains. Excepting Trevelyan they come off as a little more silly than sinister but they're certainly all memorable. They did a good job of putting actual thought into the characters.
There is a deleted scene I saw on RUclips from toward the end of Casino Royale just after Vesper leaves the hotel to take the money to Gettler. As they go to leave and Bond sees them exchange a glance, he jokingly says, "Old boyfriend of yours?" And after she leaves, Bond goes to the front desk and gets Gettler's name. Removing this scene makes the ending more confusing than it needs to be. It would have tied in the scene with the man on the dock with one eye covered who exchanges glances with Vesper (when she looks confused or worried or something). And it would have given more weight to the text message Bond sees on Vesper's phone from Gettler, just as he's discovering that she betrayed him. When I saw those few scenes--minus the deleted scene--I was confused, because I didn't know who the guy in the hat with one eye was. I didn't know--when viewing the text message simultaneously with Bond--that Gettler was the one-eyed man we (and Bond) saw earlier and therefore I didn't know that he was the person Vesper was meeting. To my knowledge, Gettler was never mentioned before--anywhere. Throw in the fact that his left eye is fucked-up--like another bad guy in the film--and it's more confusing. I'm not saying the viewer should immediately know the significance of the character when Vesper first sees him. (That's an intriguing little moment.) But things don't tie in together as neatly as they could. When Bond and the viewer see the text message for the first time, the impact could have been greater. As it is, Bond, having asked the hotel clerk who the man in the hat was, knows something very important that the audience doesn't. It's obvious that it's something critical, something dramatic, and something that we should know. The level of drama that it creates is diminished by the confusion it creates. And it made me think I'd missed something earlier. "Who the hell is Gettler?" "I don't remember seeing this guy in the hat before now." "What's up with the eye? Is it le Chiffre? Isn't he dead?"
*Deleted scenes they should've kept for the Bond movies!* 1) Bond chasing the suspect = *On Her Majesty's Secret Service!* (This was filmed, but its cutting, created a plot hole) 2) Plenty's scenes leading to her death at Wint & Mr Kidd's hands = *Diamonds Are Forever*. 3) Bond watching Sanchez on TV = *Licence to Kill*. 4) Gupter and Stamper's scenes = *Tomorrow Never Dies* 5) Bond's recovery = *Casino Royale* (shows that he took even longer to recover after his ordeal with Le Chiffre).

I also was shocked that a huge Goldeneye fan like yourself left out the scene with the gun dealer at Zukovsky's club. The scene was very amusing and even Martin Campbell regrets not including it in the final cut.
AvengedS939 Haha I thought the arms dealer scene was okay... But I never loved it really. Far more enamoured with Boris and Ourumov!
Calvin Dyson Unless the viewer is gun-savvy, most other people would find particularly boring.
ActionMasterProductions but we would of gotten more Valentine, I could always use more of him! haha
AvengedS939 That's true lol! XD
***** I mean most people wouldn't pay much attention to it, but I tend to read deep into movies haha
I was wondering when you were going to talk about the deleted scenes. You never disappoint.
SIngli6 Happy to hear :)
Man I wish Timothy Dalton did more Bond films. I love the movies, but the books are better imo, and he is the James Bond of the books.
I agree. Dalton was awesome. Nothing wrong with a Shakespearean actor playing Bond.
Yes indeed, love Dalton❤
Awesome list. Have you ever considered ranking the Fleming novels?
This has to be my new favorite channel. I'd love for you to do a video on the men who were almost Bond. Those who auditioned, screen tested, were considered, who you would have liked to see, etc.
I couldnt agree more with #1 and #2 great list Calvin!
I never seen the Dalton scene before it's very bond indeed.
Nice vid, Calvin! Salutations from the San Francisco Bay Area!
Thanks you.
Gupter has one of the best lines in Bond ever. His flat delivery of: "Government agent." Absolutely hilarious.
"Sammy David Jr."
-Calvin The Bond Reviewer
I'm amazed by the amount of deleted scenes in the Franchise. I started a little dossier one year ago, and my team and I have already discovered over 100 sequences... Damn! Shame that everything isn't included on DVD.
Sammy David Jr.??? Typo, Calvin!!!
Bruce Cabot is in the Sammy Davis deleted part? Well if you have Cabot, forget Davis. Let's get King Kong.
Glad they got deleted tbh, but great video!
I liked the scene in GoldenEye with Zukovsky and the fake weapon dealer from Pakistan :P
They should of kept that scene in, it makes the other scene intro make more sense and it gives us more of a background for Zukovsky.
I like that scene and it's a good example of Dalton doing his own stunts.
rhydermike YES! A novella from Plenty's POV! Brilliant!
rhydermike I loved the Dalton magic carpet ride. It's just the kind of flamboyant thing Bond would do, in any incarnation(yes, even Craig). They should've kept it in. I mean, it's not as silly as the hoverboat gondola or the jetpack.
DarthRushy I don't mind it myself.
Great list, I agree with the Gupta thing that's my number 1 too. Ricky Jay is just really fun to watch, shame he never had many scenes in TND.
Lana Wood, not Lana Turner.
+calvin dyson you are probs the best you tuber ever!!!
Plenty's dinner scene also contributes to the final scene where Bond exposes the Sommelier
Great list. 15:12 Lana Turner would have been 50 years old, but I bet she would have made an awesome Plenty...
Moments Indeed! Gorgeous woman
The deleted scene I would most like to see is Blofeld's demise in Never Say Never Again where he supposedly gets killed by his cat!
Hilarious to see the snow machine in FYEO is called. Zamboni. My doctor is called Zamboni 😂
6: 18 Sammy David Jr
15 : 14 Lana Turner
sloppy
This organisation does not tolerate failure.
Were there any interesting documentaries in that time about travelling to Bond movies destinations? Or now, something similar?
Technically, Timothy Dalton was the first person to drop an F Bomb in a Bond film, it's just that you only see him mouth it rather than hear it.
I ADORE YOUR CHANNEL! I am a Bond super fan. If you want to talk Bond, please just ask. I would love to talk to you! Your my favorite youtube channel!
Nice! Do a top 10 best Bond villains!
IMdB doesn't say Dance was in View to a Kill, why?
Been big bond fan since childhood seen tnd many times , never noticed the jaguar in the background 😹
It's certainly a shame that the Ricky Jay scenes were taken out. Perhaps if they were left in we may even have been able to play as a card throwing Gupta in "Nightfire".
Hey Calvin! Please make a top 10 Bond, James Bond moments. Counting down your favourite times he's uttered that iconic line.
Epic Movie Compilations Very good idea! Might have to make that one of the next videos!
Sammy David Jr.
Guitarburt Actually, they were. Watch the “Inside” documentary, it explains it.
Was Mr. Whites assassination from Quantum of Solace even filmed?
Dennis Fries I’ve seen stills from it. Not sure where they’re from, but they’re definitely of Mr. White in no location he’s in in the completed movie. So I think it was filmed. Never released, though. I’d love to see it.
Oh ok. Yeah I’d love to see it too, I don’t care if Spectre changed that ending it’d still be cool to see
It's a shame there isn't an option on the Blu-ray of DAF to add all the scenes back in,it also massive misfortune all the Bond movies are Cut/censored but I suppose the footage no longer exists.
Interesting top ten list choice!
originally as i posted elsewhere diamonds are forever was to have a gimmick.all the parts as its set mainly in vegas were to be played by vegas singers and entertainers!this was rapidly dropped early on but is how jimmy dean wound up in it and blofeld was to have been played by a famous singer whom i cant remember but who had cold feet at the 11th hour so charles grey was a very very late replacement .sammy davies jr was probably another who was part of the now discontinued gimmick.i think they had an idea to make it a bit like sinatras oceans 11 with real stars doing cameos etc thankfully wiser heads prevailed.diamonds was quite savagely cut and to this day the original movie has no explanation as to why lana wood is murdered.a lot of helpful exposition was cut apparently.
Just wondering Calvin what you think about the unused gunbarrel for The Living Daylights?
You misspelled Sammy Davis Jr. to Sammy David Jr.
I think it goes without saying that all of us would’ve liked to have seen more of Lana Wood.
Roger Moore saying "fuck him!" was brilliant!
You should review Alan Moore's graphic novel 'The Black Dossier', it might be the most creative middle finger to James Bond in popular culture.
+kingofpointless Lol.
"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier" you mean!
Anyone noticed Bronson's voice sounds a lot weaker in the unreleased clips?
BadMouseProductions Probably because since the scene was filmed, then cut, he never looped the dialogue for it in post-production
Calvin reminds me of the character Nigel who appears in Never Say Never Again.
I'm having a hard time following all of your contradictory statements
I could never deal with the loss of Gupta's scenes. Some future henchman needs the same gimmick to make things right.
I don't know. I love that deleted scene where Mr. Wint kills Shady Tree.
Knox Morris I also kind of like the alternate version of them killing that dentist when Wint drops the scorpion in his mouth instead!
*Deleted scenes they should've kept for the Bond movies!*
1) Bond chasing the suspect = *On Her Majesty's Secret Service!* (This was filmed, but its cutting, created a plot hole)
2) Plenty's scenes leading to her death at Wint & Mr Kidd's hands = *Diamonds Are Forever*.
3) Bond watching Sanchez on TV = *Licence to Kill*.
4) Gupter and Stamper's scenes = *Tomorrow Never Dies*
5) Bond's recovery = *Casino Royale* (shows that he took even longer to recover after his ordeal with Le Chiffre).
What about Moore dropping the f bomb
Theboss 8484 Thats a blooper not a true written scene that would've made the final cut in the 1980's Bond film release.
Ironically, an explosive lighter would appear two films later....
Jaguar and the carpet should have stayed. Lol
