I had a 10 yr hiatus from scrapbooking during that time I had my 3 boys and took in my 3 nieces as well, the girls grew up & moved out so then I was left with a butt ton of pics, no idea how to arrange albums, and entirely different scrappy world. My mojo had been buried in a deep dark hole. My boys were always watching someone play a video game on RUclips, so I thought gotta b somebody on there doing scrapbooking. I came across this Australian gal that fun, hilarious, and a great teacher who kept talking about project life and layouts. It seemed she had as many pics as I did however mine weren't taken in a way I could do weekly project life. So I took her stick and plonk attitude, her love for project life and decided I was going to group pics by month and events. I also decided that if I was keeping it was going in the scrapbook. No more sticking the art projects in a "safe" place. Somehow scan it, put it in a page protecter, hole punch it...whatever but put it in the album. So I completed the baby albums and the wedding album that had been in progress and have been moving forward with family albums. I do have a school album but its full, so I started putting school pics in the family albums. I also have a memorial album started for my hubby's parents.
Awww this comment has me smiling like crazy!!! So glad you stumbled upon this little Inkie corner of RUclips!! It would definitely have been tricky to come back to scrapbooking after such a large break with some many major life events during that time too. I’m so glad you have fun sticking and plonking alllll the things!! Thanks so much for watching lovely 💗
We’re an Aussie family living in India......I’m collecting all of our newspaper articles every day and will dedicate an album to it. It’s been an event I thought one day would eventuate (I’m was registered nurse in Aus), but NEVER did I think of it on this scale. It’s just crazy. Gorgeous spread! My boys are aged 16-14-13 I’ve got albums for each and I’ve incorporated all of their schoolwork into them. They will have 6 12x12 albums each. They homeschool now but all of their handwriting samples and “doodles” gets incorporated too.
I ALWAYS always did 8 1/2x11,even when 12x12 was the ginormous rage back in the day. Only now am I stepping into 12x12 AND doing pocket scrapping to boot...soooo...I’m lost!!! THANK YOU for your tutorials, I will be needing your help desperately 😆🙏🏻🥰
Oh I’m glad I can help!! My one tip is to try and minimise your supplies for a page to a little basket of your fav things. Grab 5 is really handy to focus on only a few supplies (and adding anything else you want too of course) so then the page doesn’t feel as overwhelming as you have a focus and direction to take. Good luck and have fun!! (Remember you can always cover up anything you don’t like!)
Hello from West Virginia! Your channel came recommended to me just a few minutes ago. So glad it did...your project turned out to be very beautiful! What a splendid way to to capture memories!
I am way far behind. Still scrapping end of 2017. I do 3...one family and then one for each of our boys. They are all basically the same pictures in each, and I mix family stuff and school pictures / school work chronologically. Loving the BUY IT + TRY IT videos!!! Happy to hear that more are coming. I'm one of your fans of hauls too :) Bring 'em on!!
My girls have their own album for their first year. After that the join the family album. I'm too behind to add extra albums but I add their school stuff on the family album. I love this new series!
Ok you asked...I have 2 grandchildren...I have albums for each of them.... I have divided my L.O. Into 4 categories, ( besides the Grandbaby pages) each of my 3 children have their album and I have albums for me( to have one day when I am old !) they will have to fight for the project life albums, maybe copy them...that's if they don't get tossed when I am gone!( hope not).....2014-2020! Thanks for always inspiring us! I love Citrus Twist!
My boys have school albums and sports albums from kindergarten through senior year. I haven’t done their college years and then I made them each one that just has random memories or whatever in it that I will give them if/when they ever get married
I have four boys. I make a yearly album for each of them, birth through 18. And I make yearly family albums for me to keep. I intend to give the boys their albums to them once they are grown and in their own home. I do traditional 12 x 12 scrapbooks. Mostly double page layouts with lots of pictures on them. I rarely do a one picture page. If I do the picture is usually at least a 5 x 7. I am way behind, but that's ok with me. I just keep plugging away. Oh, and I am going to document the pandemic with pictures of empty grocery store shelves and lines to get in, and funny memes about homeschooling, and pictures from our family games. I will also incluse letters from school and newspaper articles.
What a treasure for your boys to have!! ❤️ I have been saving lots of memes too about the effects of the virus, it’s times like this that we need to look on the bright side and have a good old laugh too. Hope you’re safe and well where you are!
I’m desperately trying not to buy any more supplies at the moment but I did see some delicious items in your haul! 😍 I don’t have kids but I do remember looking at my baby album a lot when I was a kid and loving it! It was an incomplete album but still loved it!
I am documenting recent events on 12x12 calendar pages, one for March and one for April so far. I have four children, each one has a baby album up to one year of age. Then albums on and on after that. I just recently did my two sons school albums ages 33 and 23 preschool to college graduation. About to start my daughters ages 20 and 10 school albums. Old projects finally getting done, because of all the time we have now. It keeps my mind off of things a little bit. A good way to escape.
I only do a baby album and after that their pictures and ours are in the same album. I don’t have too many school pictures as you might think specially after 1rst grade. I’m doing a TN for my memory keeping this year and I’m loving it. I do 1 or 2 12x12s a month (space issues). Love everything you make!
I’ve been working on a weekly album for my daughter since she was born. I take her picture every Thursday and do the layout with in the week so it’s always up to date. I plan on doing this until she’s 1 and then maybe doing every month after that in the family albums. So yeah the weekly album is the only one that is specifically just hers and anything else will go into the family album (first bath, first crawl, etc.) but I haven’t started working on that yet. I also want to do a first Christmas album. We did the 12 days of pjs and took her to go see Santa so I have a lot of holiday pictures.
I am going to make a separate mini album. Depending upon how long it all lasts, I might have to expand to a 12x12. Still trying to figure out what the album’s title will be.
Love the kit. So far behind, only started baby/toddler album and now my daughter is 21.... started doing a holiday album for Halloween then stopped and undecided if I want to continue it or combine with the chrono/year. I’ve done a mini album on our house and vaca’s. Still have thousands of pics in the cloud I need to figure out how to print.
I find that every so often, I have to switch up the size of my scrapbook layouts; otherwise I get in a rut. I was doing 8 1/2 x 11 ones but have gone back to 12 x 12 this year, and I am loving it!! Love your videos Adele!!
I have chronological albums for both my kids. I’m about 3 years behind though 😬. I don’t really have “family” albums. My two kids are 6 years apart in age (14 & 20 years old currently) so activities have always been kind of separate. On the occasions that we all are together (like holidays, etc), I do double scrap in each kids’ book -but keep it in their personal perspective. I still have to complete my daughter’s last two years in high school. Debating on if I’m going to continue after her senior year, and continue to keep an album during her university years.
Ahh this looks so fun! I’m trying to get brave enough to go back to working on my project life album... wish me luck, you’ve given me so much inspiration!
My teenaged son & 9 year daughter like to play cards, one day I came out to the living room & found out they were playing 52 pick up. It took almost a year to find most of the cards. So now we have a new set of cards that are only for us parents to play cribbage with
Oh goodness!!! I can imagine randomly finding a new card every month or two was a hoot! I think having a parent only set of cards is a great idea. We haven’t unpacked our board game stash yet because we don’t have anywhere child proof to store them...and I know if Arch sees all those colourful inviting boxes we’re in for trouble!!! 😂😬😳
I took a break shortly after beginning PL so I'm working on 2015 at the moment! YIKES! But I dont do the week by week style. I just go in order of the photos from the time. If that even makes sense. Question: Does Citrus Twist restock their hearts? Embellies? Etc. I am having the worst time getting a hold of the gorgeous things lol
I have the first year of my little boy done (well three albums for one year). I am through part of my little girls, she is now 5 - oops! Otherwise have included the rest of pics in my PL. Including big school photos too. I am planning to make a digital art book with there art work from preschool and school.
I am so not caught up so I'm not documenting the world situation right now. I do want to start somehow. I figure I will screen shot some posts on Facebook and Instagram and add some thoughts. I'm also not up to date on my kid's albums. I have an 8x8 album for each one with pregnancy and hospital and a coming home page. I plan to copy them before they leave the house. I plan to do a first year album for them both but you know who knows when that will get done. I also started a school album that just has her school photos for each year - I need to catch up and then start my other child's. It's on the list :). I have included school photos on the family albums (when I randomly have done albums).
I have 2 almost 5 year olds who are not twins. One is a biological child that I obviously have all the first year memories and pictures from, and one adoptive child that we didn’t start to foster till 11.5 months... so I have no idea how to do baby albums! I plan on doing project life going back till my pregnancy and just doing it all as it happened in MY life (because it’s my project life right!?) but I’d love to do a baby book for both kids and I have some photos from my son’s first mom but idk how in the world I’ll get those projects done...
I am half way through 2019 and but have done myself journaling notes and printed the photos for 2019 and 2020. Regarding the current situation...I’ve done a couple of layouts...one showing the impact to me....one showing a load of photos of an empty London. I think it’s important to document the event...what’s happening in general and how it impacts you xx
Yes definitely, I wrote out all the current restrictions in my state in my art journal the other day. Things keep changing every week so I think taking screen shots are a great idea.
Hey! Do you have any go to online sellers in Australia that don't cost a bomb for cool and modern stamps/journal cards etc? Even pocket page albums and things? I recent moved her and struggling to find any good quality stuff that's in my style and not super traditional over here :( ordering from studio calico is so expensive :( xxx
Love this new series! Best of both worlds!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the scrap stream! I hope Ben stops by! Random personal question, who are the kids God parents?
Woohoo!! Glad you enjoy it! Oh I don’t think Ben can drive over here unfortunately! Our new laws state that we can only get in the car and travel anywhere for essential shopping, medical needs and kids care. The fines are $1000 for going for a drive otherwise!! 😳😬 It’s a very trapped feeling not being able to even go for a twenty minute Sunday drive to get the kids out of the house, without physically getting out of the car. We will see if we can FaceTime him maybe on Monday. Archie’s god parents are Ben and my bestie Karen. We haven’t baptised Violet yet, but her godmother is my other bestie Sam and Aaron hasn’t told the godfather yet so I can’t say yet hehe!
Inkie Quill I wasn’t thinking about the quarantine. It’s like that here in the states too. It will be so nice to relax with you and the other peeps during the scrap stream. It’s just what I need! Thank you for doing it!!!!!
your videos always make happy: your positive attitude and amazing pages ❤️ thank you!!! I am not up to date with project life. My goal is to start 2020 in the second half of the year.... let's see 🙈
Love their life crafted kits. I thought they would encourage me to create regularly if I had a regular delivery but they just built up, and the Aussie dollar was not great so I cancelled. But I still miss my monthly happy mail ☹️. Trying to avoid buying more til I use what I have 😝
That’s a good idea, kit subscriptions can definitely accumulate quickly! The Aussie dollar is absolute rubbish at the moment, I want to do an order from scrapbook.com but can’t face how much it will cost at the moment 😭😖😳😬😂
Inkie Quill same!! I have some pocket money saved and just calculated how much I could spend at Simon says stamp and then just closed the website down 😩😩
Same! I have opened and closed it three times and every time I talk myself out of it 😖 give me another month of isolation and I maaaay be needing a little present to myself.
I usually print my photos in store at Big W, an Aussie department store. Otherwise I use my Canon Selphy printer which prints photos that are just a teeny bit smaller than 4x6”.
I’m just getting to March in my documenting and it is so hard to use normal, happy, cheerful journaling cards! I did download some freebies that have to do with the virus and social distancing. Traci Reed on Instagram has put together a link with all the freebies people have released having to do with Covid-19, that you could definitely check out.
Thanks for the tip! I completely agree, it’s hard to use such positive journaling cards when everything is so chaotic and strange. I’m hoping to start documenting 2020 soon while all this is still current, to help with journaling.
I am journaling about these weird time and I started a days of our live album in a 6x8 pocket album. You can find me on RUclips. I am MariskaMakes there an d on Instagram. My video’s are in Dutch.
