Was so lucky - in the early '90s, Tribe was invited to my college to perform in concert. First time I'd heard them, and was instantly a fan. That entire album is great.
Man, these songs and videos bring me back to the days when rushing after school to see Video Music Box and Yo! MTV Raps. The nostalgia with these great, legendary groups.
This song turned a punk rock kid (me) into a hip hop fan, also. 💯😎 And I'm NOT ALONE! Thats rhe best hip hop group that ever drew breath on this planet! 💯
Native tongues consist of A Tribe Called Quest De La Soul Jungle Bros Leaders of the NewSchool(busta rhymes original group)Monie Love and Queen Latifah Black Sheep Brand Nubian beatnuts and later on J Dilla joined Tribes production they were known for Afrocentric vibes with innovative soul rock and funk samples they were anti gangster and pop rap they stressed 5 elements of hiphop spirituality and they constantly influenced other like Kanye jcole Pharrell Common and a host of others
what a great time to be growing up to hear all the great rappers from the 80's into the rappers in the 90's !! such a great time regardless of race to be growing up coming from a white dude in the south bronx moving to long island and pushing this on the island was a great time for all. miss all of you involved and miss those days dearly!!
So glad to see younger generations review songs from the golden age of hip-hop. The beats were dope, MCs had strong, confident and catchy deliveries. A Tribe Called Quest are Hip-Hop Legends. ✌️
The group you're referring to is Soul For Real, the song is "Candy Rain", and they got the sample from an old Minnie Riperton song titled, "Baby, This Love I Have". However, Check the Rhime came out before Soul For Real's song. And so, actually they got the idea for the sample from A.T.C.Q., who made it popular through Check the Rhime.
Wow, I didn't hear this song in a long time. I remember I use to try to catch it on the radio so I could record it. I kept missing the chance though Lol!!
Damn! I truly miss those days when artists came hard w/ mad clever bars! These cats were Real Writers! Real MCs! Real Hip-hop! RIP to our dawg Phife AKA The Five Foot Assassin!
A Tribe Called Quest are definitely legends. RIP to the Phife Dawg aka the Five Foot Assassin, Q-Tip is one of the dopest producers in the game. Both are also dope lyricists as well. Ali Shaheed Muhammad is not only the groups DJ, but he is also a dope musician and producer as well. ATCQ were also responsible for finding the artist D'Angelo. You should definitely react to the songs "Electric Relaxation" and "Jazz(We've Got)/Bugging Out" for starters.
Please do A Tribe called Quest Find a way or Bonita AppleBum Then you gotta hear Buddy By De La SouL trust me you will be a fan of the native tongues crew they different 💯🐐🐐🐐
Hello ITZJT and how are you doing and I hated that I missed A tribe called quest and I were a janitor at a school in Washington DC and when school was out our shift were from 8 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon but when school started back my shift was 3:30 to 12: 00 midnight and this is why I never got a chance to see them and some of the other I had to make that money
Q-Tip is nice but Phife was just something else when he rhymed. Phife Dawg was a Type 1 diabetic and died from from it. One sound to check out from them is called "Oh My God." At the end of his verse he calls himself the funky diabetic. His real name is Malik. Also called himself Malik the Five Foot Freak.
They way I used to run this my friends would be like “damn, give the tribe a break and play something else!” lol. Nuclear Cleaners…my cousins used to live around the corner. I love when artists just come out on the street and create magic like that.
The beat you hear is a sample of Minnie Ripperton's 1975 song " Baby, This Love I Have" Where's the homework at? Soul gor Real 1995, this song 1991. SjMH
This the same Qtip that wrote that beat for Slim and LL. He always pushed towards smart rap as we called it but gangsta stuff took over. For Tribe it was always about knowledge.
I may be mistaken, but if anyone is old enough to remember that this video premiered after an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and I thought it was the illest shit ever for that to happen.
A Tribe Called Quest Check The Rhime song and video is a classic. LOL@Phife Dawg lyrics. I like Phife Dawg wearing Cleveland Indians baseball shirt and Cleveland Indians baseball cap in the video. I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. I'm happy about Cleveland Browns football team making the playoffs. Music singers Soul For Real sampled Check The Rhime on Candy Rain song. I wanna tell ITZJT TV to check out A Tribe Called Quest documentary on RUclips. The documentary was directed by white movie actor Michael Rappaport. Michael was in Higher Learning movie with Omar Epps, music rapper Ice Cube of NWA, Larry Fishburne. The Low End Theory album is a classic. Phife Dawg should've did more solo albums. A Tribe Called Quest(RIP Phife Dawg), Willie D of Geto Boys, Scarface of Geto Boys, MC Ren of NWA, Ice Cube of NWA, Redman, 2Pac Shakur(RIP), Gang Starr(RIP Guru), Tim Dog(RIP), Foxy Brown are my favorite rappers.
Tribe used this Minnie Ripperton sample 4 years before Soul 4 Real's "Candy Rain". (1995).
Nothing like A Tribe Called Quest.
This Whole album is a Vibe. Critically acclaimed and respected throughout the community. Excellent selection.
You say it best . there is nothing to add. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
@@dancefloor9032 Salute!

Stone cold vibe. This song is a classic.
I feel old! This was the jam my freshman year in college in 1991! It’s just a whole other level… it still slaps hard today.
This came before soul for teal’s candy rain

Man i miss these guys, brings me back to my late teens early twenties
Sampled "Minnie Riperton - Baby, This Love I Have"
ATCQ - "Scenario" w/LONS (Busta Rhymes); "Electric Relaxation"; "Hot Sex" (_Boomerang_ 🎬 soundtrack); "Find a Way"
This video was done 3 blocks from where I was brought up.
I love ATCQ. Such great arrangements
We need to bring back bars, and real hip-hop!
