    Memories of coming home from college, eating oven chips, beans and pizza and watching TFI Friday before going out on the piss. We were mad for it big time! Now they have the boring Ed Sheeran and music that means nothing to my soul

    Absolute belter of a track, '97 what a year man. The album version on "Do It Yourself" has a fucking great riff by John Squires on guitar.

      Huge the crescendo of the 1900s was as progressive as it’ll get. Lot of optimism approaching the turn of the millennium, but then we didn’t really consider it was ending too !

      +Tony Dixon I would agree, but it's real hard to compare him to Bernard Butler, who probably shares the top spot.

      Butler had two good albums behind him with the first two suede albums, however arguably the Second coming was not that great artistically speaking for John. i would say John was better technically and butler artistically.

    Squire had a late 60's Clapton look to him, and just like Eric he's a great guitarist and musician.

    Never got the hate for The Seahorses - I think it was the release Squire needed post-Roses. Do It Yourself is a superb album, with great guitar and vocal work. The unreleased second album (it's out there in demo form, search for it) was nowhere near as good as the first album, mirroring the poor response to The Second Coming.

    • @adamhenshaw09

      Yep totally agree.
      I've always been ok with loving just one album, regardless of the band.
      Feel the same about The Killers Hot Fuss...

      Great band, featuring squires best work it was just one constant stream of pure unadulterated liquid mojo. Fact is all the roses reinvigorated themselves with solo careers; right at the prime of their lives while carrying serious reputation at that point so it was incredible on three fronts. Their best stuff around then imo, what a time

    • @simms75
      @simms75 Год назад

      This 100% - Squire at his best and with the vocal brilliance of Helme. 2nd Seahorses album sounds very lackluster, even forgiving that it is in its unproduced demo form.
