If its a suicide squeeze the batter HAS to get a piece of that. This is what happens when you dont.
This wasn’t just a bunt… it’s a suicide squeeze
it was a strike. and it doesnt matter. the goal is to get the bat on the ball
He almost got fired? When did that story come out?
This is what you have to say when you're managing a team full of amateurs. Anaheim has had enough of hearing excuses for too long. It lets us know that he at least cares and is hard on the Angels.
Or that he only cares about himself and is willing to throw his players under the bus to save his own skin
@user-pi1bc9pc8p He doesn't need anything to save his skin...and it was clear it's the players fault

But the ball was too far away
@@nofurtherwest3474 The ball was 6 inches off the plate, despite what your bf told you, 6 inches is not big.
Look up "MLB Squeeze bunts" and watch players able to bunt balls 3 feet out the zone or in the dirt. If a manager makes that call, it's on the player to do everything in his power to bunt it on the ground...but here, that was the worst form I've ever seen on a bunt. His hips were behind his knees trying to reach a pitch on the outside, go ahead and practice that yourself. Just terrible.
On a squeeze play on a pitch that's not close to a strike? He had to throw his bat at that pitch to get that pitch in play.
@rmh941 That's what is expected...it's a squeeze play, your only job is to put the ball in play (preferably on the ground)
Look up "MLB Squeeze bunts" and watch guys literally jump to bunt the ball, some even bunt a dirt ball. That's what is expected.
@@greencat1849 dude that ball is like a foot off the plate against a pitcher that wasn't even throwing strikes. You can't realistically expect him to make that bunt.

It was a terrible call by Ron Washington. how the heck are you supposed to lay a bunt down on a pitch in the other batters box. Also idc if it's true you never say "it wasn't anything I did wrong". That is the most selfish thing you could say. It doesn't matter who's fault it is; the fact of the matter is the manager is responsible for whatever happens with the team and Ron Washington by being a selfish crybaby has now ruined his relationship with: for sure the player who tried to lay down the bunt and probably most of the other players on the team. Team moral was already low for the angels and it just got way lower.
Ron said nothing wrong here. What are you yapping about?
8 out of 31 pitches is not throwing strikes.
You don’t put on a suicide squeeze onwith a wild pitcher. You just don’t. I learned that in first grade
Because he blew it and threw the new player on the team under the bus. Washington is a piece of 💩.
I have a lot of respect for Ron. But he’s clearly wrong right here. Why not just let Guillorme work the count and likely take an RBI walk?
Wash sucks his arrogance is embarrassing. He goes to mike trouts home to tell him how to play ball or it’s the bench for him, really!!! No he didn’t almost get fired but he should be replaced.

I'll still love Ron for what he did for the Braves. The Angels infected him.

@DawsonD2023 Batter executed one of the worst and pathetic bunt attempt ever...look up "MLB Squeeze bunts" and see guys get themselves into position to bunt pitches three feet outside, above their head, and even in the dirt.
What did that batter do? He squared super late on a squeeze and was leaning towards 1st vase line instead of doing his job: getting the bunt down. He was busy starting to run...pause the video when the ball crossed the plate and you see the batter's hips behind his knees...now try that yourself, it's impossible bc it's terrible execution on something that little league players can do perfectly.
Do some research before talking about stuff you clearly don't know about to me.
@@greencat1849 that’s your job in suicide squeeze drag bunt if show bunt early the defender will move up rendering the bunt useless ur asking Luis bunt a slider moving way off the plate and knew something like this would happen yet still did it. That nasa knowing a rockets going to fail saying f*ck it, its not my job on line even though told him the wrong measurements and to press the button to launch yet it’s not my fault you have to be special kind of stupid to suicide squeeze on a wild pitcher then have balls to blame ur decision on the guy that was just executing ur orders publicly in front press I’d ask 4 my release/trade I don’t tolerate a$$holes manager or not. Wash ain't wrong. Do your job. If i can bunt in high school at pitches 6 inches outside, a big leaguer can too.

A squeeze bunt might not have been the best play since the pitcher was having trouble throwing strikes.

@mr.brenman2132 That was the correct call to make for a guy that is hitting .234 and is a bench player at best...hell, he struck out to end that at-bat, so you can't even make that argument. Squeeze bunt was the correct call, look up "MLB Squeeze bunts" and you'll see guys get themselves into better position and lay down bunts on tougher pitches than this.
And no, his managing style that has won him a WS and a career above .500 record is to not sugarcoat anything. If you failed the team, he'll let you know. These aren't kids out there, they are grown men. So don't cry about it.

The Angels have not been good for a long time. Washington can't work miracles with terrible players. Cole Tucker is designated for assignment- no surprise there. The mariners have offered Tucker a coaching job, which, he should accept. It will still keep him around the game.
Perhaps Washington believed he could take a poor-hitting team and magically turn them into winners.
I would like to see them get good. The Baltimore Orioles rebuilt team is playing so much better. Someone needs to figure out how to make the Angels competitive and fix bad swinging.
As a Braves fan, I will never get enough of my boy Ron. He's just that guy.😂
I winning manager always requires accountability from his players. Maybe there's another reason you don't like this manager.
All the bla, bla, bla about this play ! ! I have know claimed myself as the expert!! This is what is called the , squeeze play ,,, ! By your comments, you dont understand what a squeeze play is!! Let me explain,, the squeeze play,,. Bases loaded, runner on third is coming home on the pitch. Batter is to bunt the ball into fair territory ( if possible) making a play at the plate unlikely! If not into fair territory, you have to put the bat on the ball at ALL COST! This pitch was WAY outside and well done by the defense! This again was a well played defensive play mostly by the pitchers location of the pitch, to far out for the batter to get a piece of it. Third base side on the outside pitch! Come on man,,,,, thats how i taught my players to do it!!
No. Ballplayers need to take accountability. Thats the problem, these modern players are coddled to death. Wash has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Accountability goes both ways
I like Wash, and Luis should have pulled the bat back. I'm not a pro baller, but if its your job to play, you are expected to perform. But, I don't agree with sending the runner. Let the runner go on contact
How do you know he almost lost his job for saying this? I'm really curious. But yeah, it's not a good look to throw Guillorme under the bus. Those pitches were not strikes.
The angels are trash anyways, Ron’s is experienced and knows what he’s talking about
So this bias person doesn't like Washington. Well, many in baseball respect him and few here respect you!
It’s called a SUICIDE squeeze for a reason. The angels offense sucks and needs runs. This guy needs to bunt the damn ball or at least try harder.
As a Braves fan, I wish he would come back. I think the team truly misses him. He provided a spark that just doesn’t seem to be there this year.
Throw the bat at it...try your best to atleast get the bat on it....plain an simple if the coach call something hes expecting u to get the job done...but it was a risky call by Ron but hes trying his best to win games with a bad team
No, take the freaking ball. You can still get walked and walk in a run when bunting!
Ron is as good as they come and this is just one extremely negative incident but I'm certain it won't stain his reputation. The Angels are lucky to have him
He shouldn't have, but he is right. The player couldn't bunt the ball. No excuse.
Bases loaded with 1 out and the guy couldn’t throw strikes. That call should have never been made in the first place
Hmm 🤔 if the ball isn’t in the strike zone then don’t bunt at it? I watched the game. This video=bullshit
Ron Washington is the best manager the Angels have had since Mike Scioscia. And No he didn’t almost get fired 😂
Same old Angels, it’s always something. Trout will realize too late that he wasted his career being loyal to an organization that didn’t deserve his loyalty
