Ryan Martinie is one of the most overlooked and underrated bass players out there. One of my favorite musicians. I loved early mudvayne mostly because of his bass. He's finally found where he belongs where he can showcase what he brings to the table. Definitely more artistic freedom with Soften the Glare.

Mudvayne was a time and place. You can't just get it back. I was completely taken by LD 50 as a teenager. Then I thought The End of All Thing to Come was ok. And I didn't really care for anything they did after that (except for some of the self titled). Point being, you can't just get more of that, it doesn't work that way.
Music is very alive; more than it has ever been. It's more accessible, more achievable, more people are playing it, there are more genres than ever before in history. You just have to find it.

also, there isn't enough clean, raw, soundboard quality video footage from the LD 50 days (which really is a shame), so us Ryan fanboys are starved for video content. we'd rather see what he is doing to achieve the sounds we're hearing at 3:32, not a contrived slow motion effect that doesn't show us what is going on. i get what the editor was going for, but all we need to be impressed by this band is to see it and hear it, we don't need some edited-in after effects that someone thought was headie

Now that’s a bass sound you can’t mistake. I had no clue who these guys were, but that bass said “Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!!”
I know I’m late to the party, but this is great music

Awesome song and great video bar the 'special effects', is there a copy of this video out there that hasn't been edited?

It's live footage for the album version of the song. The solo is improvised, hence the weird edits and slow motion.

Jazz fusion on the comeback! Check out Phil Collins' from Genesis(!) side band Brand X. Mahavishnu Orchestra. Return to Forever. Prog and fusion will never die!

Its crazy, if someone would have played this for me without knowing the bass player I would have guessed he played in mudvayne Haha. Such a distinctive tone and play style. This band is fire!
