3:58 In unmodded Anomaly, I recently tested an RPD, RPK, and RPK-74, all fully upgraded with similar upgrade paths, back to back to back. Upgrade paths prioritized reliability, fire rate, recoil reduction, and handling. I went through the Jupiter Underground using three different characters, each with one of these three weapons as a primary. I found that the RPK holds its own alongside its predecessor, the RPD, and its successor, the RPK-74. The RPD has the coolness factor of being belt-fed, but the only edge it has over the RPK is its capacity. The RPK actually has overall better stats, including fire rate, and is lighter and more reliable. Of these three in particular, the RPK can have the best fire rate, which does make a difference. The RPK-74 has the advantage of using lighter and cheaper ammo, and accepting optics and a sound suppressor, but with the weight reduction upgrade, the ye olde RPK ends up a bit lighter, which compensates for the heavier ammo. Also, with all reliability upgrades, the RPD ends up with excellent reliability, able to burn through something like 750 rounds before jamming or misfiring for the first time (starting from 100% condish). This is above average in standard-issue Anomaly. The RPK and RPK-74, with all of their reliability upgrades, are able to burn through over 900 rounds before jamming or misfiring for the first time. Truth be told, I think I had the most fun using the fully-upgraded RPK, mostly because of the insane fire rate. It tore apart everything that stood in my way, using standard-issue FMJ, even exo-clad Monolith heavy troopers. The RPD did that too, but was heavier and had slower maxed-out fire rate. Handling and recoil control were fine with all of these LMGs. Note: Imagine how awesome it would be if there was a Zone mod, or this could also be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, that had Red Orchestra-style gameplay mechanics, allowing you to lie prone and use bipods. This would make bipods useful accessories (which could be integral or modular just like other accessories). It would also mean that machine guns could be used the way machine guns are meant to be used, whether they're light machine guns or general-purpose machine guns, rather than all machine guns basically functioning as suped-up assault rifles.
The RPD, my advice is just keep that and give to one of your companion. After a fight, take it back and strip their bullet in the gun then let your companion take it again. Do this about 5 time and you got enough bullet for whole run

This baby saved my life once, and it was an irreplaceable backup for my raid on military on agroprom (they had a green stash there which dropped me the advanced toolkit) I also had a huge luck of finding this gun with almost everything intact, only bolt was seriously damaged and overall condition of 37...
I wish there was an Anomaly mod that added a GP-95 compact grenade launcher. IRL, it was made specifically for the 9A-91. For Zone use, its mount should be "universalized" to allow it to mount on any compact rifle or SMG, Eastern and Western alike as long as it's launcher-ready (which not every single one needs to be), of comparable size to the 9A-91. 2:44 There are some details that should differentiate them further. The ye olde AKS-47 has a milled receiver, so it should be heavier than the AKM or AKMS, but it also has a trashy under-folding stock, so it should be slightly lighter than the AK-47 (which it is in Anomaly, but only by 0.1kg which is negligible). The AKM and AKMS are steps up from the AK-47 and AKS-47. The "N" is a misnomer since that letter's supposed to be used to indicate night vision. The "S" is correct because it indicates a folding stock ("skladnoy"). In Anomaly, with or without Gamma/EFP (right?), the letter "N" indicates the ability to mount Eastern optics on AKs made from 1959 to 1974. So dovetail mount-ready on the left side of a stamped receiver. Dovetail mounts and side-folding stocks became standard features on the AK-74M, starting in 1991, so from that point on, the "S" was dropped from the nomenclature since it would have been redundoink. 3:12 Also known as "MK47 Mutant." 3:44 Really?! It's one of muh faves! It's the only belt-fed gun with the correct capacity. The PKM, PKP, and m249 all have 100-round belts, but the size and shape of their belt boxes would suggest that they should have 250-round belts. The RPD's 100-round belt is correct, and so is its drum-shaped belt canister. Anyway, just imagine a belt-fed machine gun with a grenade launcher! A savvy zonesmith could surely do that. Just take a Rhodesian-style short-barrel RPD and splice a GP-25 onto its underside. Might have to modify the launcher's mount, and it might have to be permanently attached. Would make a top-tier monster hunter's weapon. Western-style counterpart would be an Ares Shrike which, IRL, can already accept any underslung attachment that can mount on any M-16 or M-4, including but not limited to the M-203 and M320. The M320 would be the better choice for the Shrike due to it having its own grip. 3:58 On the upside, RPKs are great for equipping friendly NPCs. 4:26 In my experience, the Type 63 is one of the best early-game rifles in standard-issue Anomaly. Less common than the SKS. Less common than AKs in any caliber. But it's super-cheap to buy, super-cheap to maintain, super-cheap to upgrade, super-durable/reliable, is effective enough to get the job done, is fine with iron sights, AND it accepts a ye olde PU scope. It has the aesthetics of an SKS combined with the functionality of an AK. It's only real drawback is that it's only ever used (in-game) with 20-round tanker mags. Fully upgraded, it's just as good as the RPD or RPK when it comes to damage-per-shot and damage-per-second. Or close enough, that is. Plus, it accepts a scope, so some might prefer it. The RPD's more fun to use, though, just because of the whole "belt-fed tachanka" mystique. Plus, if you're wearing an exoskeleton, a belt-fed machine gun just fits the vibe. Note: One time, on my second character (loner), I came across a fellow loner who had a busted-up Type 63 and I bought it off him for basically pocket change. It was cheap to fix and quickly became my main early-game weapon. It becomes outmoded the moment you get yer mitts on a proper 1959 or later model AK and a GP-25, though, but some might consider it a step up from an SKS because it's select-fire and feeds from detachable box mags. 20-round box mags are better than 10-round stripper clips, after all.
Ok but the RPD is pretty goddamn accurate. Once I got used to the sights I was casually mowing down whole monolith squads from 300 yards. Thing absolutely mulches everything in the game.
Pretty good list, I was wondering what people's opinions on some of these rifles chambered in 7.62x39mm, 9x39mm perform in-game. Well done. I have a small tip that would probably help you improve; if you're going to continue talking about military hardware or firearms on this channel, it's best you gain an understanding into proper naming conventions and nomenclature. "MKII is the abbreviation for "Mark Two". It is based on a U.S. Navy/USMC equipment designation system Mark (one, two three...) would be the main designator and MOD would indicate the modification. The Type 63 is so fascinating in EFP 4.0. It can equip PU scope, more controllable recoil and a bunch of bandits have them. A great starter rifle to me, you can upgrade to much better guns later.
Even in unmodded Anomaly, the Type 63 is a great early-game rifle, maybe even the overall best simply due to it being a budget/surplus rifle. It's completely outmoded once you get yer first AK, though (and have it in working condish).

I don't know if it's a recent addition since this video came out, but the AKMS can mount three scopes: the cobra, the PSO-1, and a red dot one whose name escapes me right now. I'd bump it up to C tier at least, or even B tier if it ever gets changed to take the history weapon repair kit instead of the army rifle kit. Which it really should, that gun is from the early 60s and it being locked behind advanced tools makes it next to useless.
I'm really enjoying the AKM series early game because of the availability of the round and its reliability, so I can just load up on 220 bullets for a trip to the swamp and this gun will not let me down. With this gun I can spray and pray all I like without worrying about the gun malfunctioning or run out of bullets. I can reliably switch to range with a PKS scope and swap to a kobra to close in. I also refurbished an AK-12 but still feels much more comfortable running with the AKMS (you can put scope and underbarrel on it now)
The AKM series should not take army rifle repair kits, it should take historical rifle kits. These guns were used in-between 1959 and 1974 and they're relegated to secondary and police use now. Needing advanced tools to repair them kills their viability since you need to be very lucky to get them early game, and there are way better options mid and late game when you finally have the ability to repair them.
@@joaogomes9405 They are still AKs. And they are still be able to do anything that you want from a 7.62x39mm AK. In mid/late game they are great parts sources since they are identical part wise to the AKMN, the 103, and also the RD built AK.
@@angquangnguyenthac2833 ok cool? I don't remember saying they're not AKs. And while they might be good part providers for better guns, they're still a middling gun themselves. Wasting resources repairing an AKM when you could repair any other assault rifle which needs advanced tools and is much better than the AKM makes the AKM useless beyond switching the parts into a better gun. Unless you're incredibly unlucky and you just can't find any of the AKs that outperform the AKS, like the AK-103, the beard, the ak-74 or the AKMN, there's no point in investing into the AKS unless you just really like the gun. It should be an historical weapon kit, that way historical kits would actually have a use beyond repairing SKS molots and shotguns.
VSS Merc has a 20 round mag in Gamma (did it have a 30 round mag in an earlier version maybe?) but in my experience with the gun so far, that doesn't even matter all that much. With this caliber you're likely going to one- or two-shot stalkers with headshots anyway pretty much regardless of their gear, so you won't spend a lot of time mag-dumping at all. The only time that ever comes into play is if you aren't careful and run into an ambush, and even when hip-firing, the 9x39 rounds do so much damage that a 20 round mag isn't that big of a handicap anyway, at least in my experience. That being said ... I really, really, really love my VSS Merc - it replaced my Thales F90 the second I realized that the 9x39 ammo has the exact same crafting recipe as 5.56x45, making crafting much more efficient since each 9x39 bullet does substantially more damage than its NATO counterpart.
For me 9x39 is the best caliber in all Stalker games in term of performance, excelent penetration and very good damage, it's the best choice for fighting stalkers and mutants at the same time. The downside are the speed of the bullet, the price and the relative rarity of the ammunition. I cleared Radar and x19 recently in Gamma with the As val tactical, works very well in close combat with a laser and a 1p29 scope.
The rarity of 9x39 can be offset by carrying a gunsmithing kit and ammo parts - 9x39 uses the exact same amount of ressources as 5.56x45 for example, so just keep those ammo parts in your inventory and disassemble rifle ammo of all other calibers you loot. you'll rarely run out of ammo since the round is so damn efficient in and of itself.
i personally like the rpd of course its not a great weapon at long distance but in short to med distance its good also its my go to weapon to the miracle machine
A fully upgraded RPD is basically the personification of the Vladof philosophy of overwhelming firepower. It doesn't really need any attachments, though I'd love to see a monster hunter's version with a grenade launcher. It would be a Rhodesian-style short-barrel jobber with a grenade launcher spliced onto the underside. I'd also like to see an Ares Shrike in an Anomaly mod, and it should be able to accept an M-203 and/or M320. Oblivion Lost 2010 had an Ares Shrike and it was great!
Tier List: S RD-47 ISG, RD-9X39 ISG, VSS Merc A AK-104 Alpha, CAA AK-Alfa, MK47 (EFP), RD-704 (EFP), STV-380, AS VAL/modern, AS VAL Tactical, SR-3M, VSS Savant B AK-103, AKMN, AKMSN, Groza-1, 9A91, Groza,VSK-94 C AK-104, VSS D AK-47, AKMS, AKS-47, RPD F RPK, Type 93, VPO-136 (EFP)
It's funny because both 556 (out of a proper length barrel) and 545 have better ballistics than 762x39. There is a reason why Russia developed and switched to 545 after all. 9x39, while an interesting and fun caliber, is much less than in real life due to being sub-sonic. Speed is what beats armor.
Is it true that I cannot get adjustable sights for SVDS (or are there any sight-attachments that with the sight can be adjusted?) Or is the adjustable sights-upgrade only available on rifles with integrated sights? Because the adjustable sight is like having all the attachment sights in one?! Im running Anomaly 1.5.2 with BaS
Love your content, very straight the the Point. I hate it when RUclipsrs take 3 mins or so to finally get to the "Meat" of the Video. Yes but I thought zooming with the scope only worked on integrated scopes usually on snipers, but I noticed your rd47 had a canted sight on it probably from a tactical kit. I've tried that same single scope and also the tactical kit but can't seem to adjust the magnification. So I was wondering if you used a mod or something and also if you could share it.

Awesome video. This is very useful
I loved VSS since SoC. A lil bit sad for its score but you gave us facts, tho.
I'm still gonna try some loadouts with VSS anw xD
Yeah, the 10 round magazine really doesn't help it.
@@nullmoxy I recently picked up VSS "Merc" with 30 round mag and able to attach western scopes/sights. Seems good :D
Great video bro
The RPD is great for tight quarters like underground areas
i personally like the rpd
of course its not a great weapon at long distance but in short to med distance its good
also its my go to weapon to the miracle machine
Lol i feel the same about the RPK; was the first rifle i got that ii could fix up in GAMMA and i love how chonky it is
A fully upgraded RPD is basically the personification of the Vladof philosophy of overwhelming firepower.
Idk if this is a new addition in GAMMA because it is not in the list, but the AMB-17 is easily THE best 9x39 weapon

It's funny because both 556 (out of a proper length barrel) and 545 have better ballistics than 762x39. There is a reason why Russia developed and switched to 545 after all.
9x39, while an interesting and fun caliber, is much less than in real life due to being sub-sonic. Speed is what beats armor.
in theory, ok sure, but RPK is FANTASTIC in practice. you shouldnt be using it from 2 miles anyway
thank you for the video
If it shoots, dont jam. Then it is S tier in my book.
I once got a working AK-47 super early game. And I carried it to CNPP.
Is it true that I cannot get adjustable sights for SVDS (or are there any sight-attachments that with the sight can be adjusted?)
Or is the adjustable sights-upgrade only available on rifles with integrated sights?
Because the adjustable sight is like having all the attachment sights in one?!
Im running Anomaly 1.5.2 with BaS
In the last 5 minutes I just found a Remington Deer Hunter and an RD 9x39.
Love your content, very straight the the Point. I hate it when RUclipsrs take 3 mins or so to finally get to the "Meat" of the Video.
Though I have to say that you put way to much importance to the Sights, like you prefer NATO to Soviet and Iron Sight is your Cryptonite 😂
But I get that it's a Video of Personal preference and there is bound to be some Bias in it. Anyway keep the good work up my Dude 👍👍
I value scopes quite high as the easier it is to aim, the more shots you will hit. And the easier it is to hit headshots.
Opposite of me. I prioritize grenade launchers (since I like to hunt "big game") and I find iron sights more "sporting."
@@nullmoxy I mean its Personal preference but I rarely attempt headshots , I am lore the Center of Mass kind of Guy and since the Maps aren't that Vast in Stalker I usually see something moving in the distance already, so Iron Sight are enough. Also I like the Soviet Stalker Style so to say, AK, SVD and Wood Handles are my Bae 😅 so I am Biased.
But why do you prefer NATO sights ?
I prefer the reticles and there are more variable zoom nato sights than WP (I think)
there isnt AEK 971 in gamma? it was my popular start weapon in anamoly
What about the OC-14-4A? It’s a 9x39 gun. It looks like the groza but has 30 round mag
What about AEK973?
The AEK is covered in this video: ruclips.net/video/ZnmYu6geW7E/видео.html
@@nullmoxy AEK 973 bro the one that shoots 7.62 X 39mm rounds not the AEK 971
@@nullmoxy Na...bro just leave it. This must have taken a lot of hard work
My bad, just found it. It is named wpn_aek_duty in game so I just thought it was a aek 971 varient.
@@nullmoxy no worries
You didn't talk about the AN-94 and the AEK, two amazing weapons.
That's because they are 5.45x39 weapons and are covered here: ruclips.net/video/ZnmYu6geW7E/видео.html
@@nullmoxy oh, sorry. I'll gonna watch this !
how come you can zoom in and out with the rd47 isg? 2:21
Zooming the scope? Just use the scroll wheel.
AK-104 is my favorite AK irl
Too bad we can't combine the two mods of gamma and EFP, because the gun selection then would be nice.
What about the OC 14 4A?
I think you just told us that the VSS and the VSS Savant both have 20 round capacity but you phrased it like the Savant was better for having 20 round capacity.
I'm not sure what the actual difference is? Or does VSS actually have 10 round capacity like in real life?
The regular VSS has a 10 round capacity.
So I’m on my grind to find a RD-47 because I have every gun in the game except a high end 7.62 rifle, does anyone have an idea of what factions I should farm for drops or anyone able to tell me where they found theirs?
I found one on a Merc I killed in Army warehouse
How do I turn on the laser for the asval tactic ?
GAMMA: hold L
EFP: double tap V
@@nullmoxy thx
Woohoo MORE DAKA
Vladof philosophy (most perfectly personified by the RPD)
...Did...he just put...the VSS Vintorez into...C TIER.
Why is all of the guns in this game being held by the magazine that's kinda lame tbh
Who the hell cares about RoF when you are supposed to tap fire for head shots. Rof is only a factor when shooting mutants.
If you are playing this like Call of Duty you done goof'd up
Try BOSSPACK bro 😎
Should have removed the suppressors.
Modpack REALITY will be better than GAMMA and EFP
EFP is the worst. The movement is ridiculously slow, the sprint is even slower than the actual walk. Everything feels so heavy so sluggish, no fluidity/smoothness in movement. I uninstalled it right after 7 mins of gameplay. Couldn't even walk 20 meters. Such a failure of a modpack
