STOP DO NOT PROCEED UNTILL YOU READ THIS.. If you watch the video, it appears that the person is removing the back cover from the front, between the screen and the sides. In actuality, it is from the back to the sides, not the screen. The side cover stays connected to the screen. I watched and followed his video and removed the front screen. It completely destroyed a perfectly good unit. The screen no longer functions and I put several large cracks in it.
turn the unit over, screen down so that you are looking at the back cover and remove it from the back, not the front.
Nice video, hope you sell few screens from it

Hi Micheal, I was going to do this repair for someone, and I wanted to watch a few videos before I did so, and I was thinking the exact same thing because I had noticed that the tab has buttons in the back that I thought would make for an easy way to remove the back. So when I saw them remove the front in this video, it didn't make any sense to me. My understanding had been that in these older samsungs, you could still open them up for easier repairs. From the exterior design, I think this tab was from the same generation as the S5 phone, which had a removable battery and removeable back to allow repairs.

I just followed the video and it worked fine, if you cracked the screen then thats on you using to much force.

You left the bit of tape from the cable stuck on the heat sink!

    Hi
i followed this instruction and now my homebutton the left softtouch button and the swipe down menu do not work anymore. I reattached the ribbon calbes a few times, but nothing changes this error. What is weird is the fact that long pressing the left soft touch button works as it should? Any ideas?

      Hello,
sounds strange because when replacing the battery you only have to remove the micro USB flex cable and the LCD flex cable. It's difficult to tell from afar where the mistake could be but maybe you have damaged a ribbon cable when opening the device. Just a small scratch on one of the cables can cause issues. Hope, you can identify and fix the issue soon!
Best regards from the REPEDIA e team

The cable hold downs crumbled and broke off when I pulled the tape back. Now what can I do? Are the hold downs replaceable?

Thanks to this video i ruined a perfectly good unit because for some reason i was instructed to remove the screen, instead of just opening it from the back. Thanks

That's on you, I just followed the vid and it worked fine. Don't force electronics or they will break.
