I think block editing is more intuitive for people who have a background in coding, the logical process is the same when you are in the code editor, I haven't touched wordpress in years and just recently had to come back coz we need it for a project at work, and I found this new block editing feature more appealing vs the classic way of doing things. Your channel is very educational and it is our go to channel for learning about WP blocks. Thank you.

Jamie, with regard to building your own block theme, I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) a less formal way to implement a customized theme built for one site on another site is to use the Export tool from the Editor --> Appearance > Editor > Click on the default page to put it into edit mode > Options (ellipsis in upper-right corner of editor) > Export (under the "Tools" section). This kicks out a zip containing your site's theme plus all modifications to the templates and styles. So, if you're not necessarily interested in generating a formal, standalone theme from your customized theme (with all the standard theme doodads like a custom name, image, description, and so on) but would like to use a copy of your existing site theme (including all your theme mods), seems like that's an easy, no-plugin-required way to go (although I'd concede I don't see an installed font management component via this method).

Was dynamic addition of custom post templates added recently? I don't think it was there last time I looked.

Well, after coming across your channel during my insomnia, four videos in and I am ditching Divi and redesigning my blog in the block theme. I’m glad I found you.

@@jamiewp Various types, Jamie, as we have different types of clients. Small biz, not-for-profits, artists, etc. We're used to Divi which has many features we use on most sites, such as MailChimp subscription form integration, beautiful image galleries, flexible/customizable blog layout, etc.
I was under the impression that Gutenberg (block) themes came with a small set of "blocks" and one uses free add-ons like Kadence Blocks to augment the power. I could be wrong.

Some nice new tips there Jamie. You make full site editing look easy! My efforts have been frustrated by a lack of control around things like column widths (setting a minimum size) etc.

Thanks. It is for some time now, that I had similar ideas, but I wrote it off, saying to myself, there must be something I don't understand. Having been in IT for decades, I would say Gutenberg blocks is like a 3rd generation language, as in relation to HTML. Your video is so good, I would say your cat deserves a piece of salmon.

I only knew about the patterns library. I had never thought about mixing theme parts or the custom post layouts. Some themes already have time to read.
One aside - One of the issues of block themes is simply the many traditional themes and reluctance of many vendors in creating a block theme from traditional. I use GeneratePress and they have said they won't do a block theme. I wonder if there is a converter process that would be available? Thanks again.
