Nathan may drive some folks nuts but I find this fascinating and practical. This is all stuff from the days when pens weren't just things you dump ink in and write with. They were actually tools and you could do stuff with them. The things he can do with these dip pen nibs are things I would not have thought remotely possible! And I do miss the videos also. The critics aren't going to like him anyway, so go ahead and make a video. Easy for us to say, but if Nathan is still all there is of Noodler's, he already has all needs to do. Power on, Nathan.
everytime i watch a video of nathan, not only i see a man passionate about fountain pens, which has a value of its own, but more importantly, i see a man with critical thinking, the courage to conduct an experiment, deep knowledge of tools and in general a constantly-educated man. Someone who exists and thinks beyond the small world of fountain pens that makes us gather in this small "corner in the internet". He is a man i aspire to be, even though i am so different and would probably argue quite a lot. Its so exciting to me, that a -controlled leak-, that we call a fountain pen, can be so helpful in our everyday lives. Thank you, i use noodler's pens daily mostly for making art.
Nathan, thank you for the new pen material! I live in Phoenix and the cotton butyrate material dries the ink out so quickly in our dry desert air. I've had Zhivago in my Thule Creaper for a full month now and it appears to have almost zero evaporation. Fantastic! Please continue to make the airplane acrylic pens. They're beautiful and really great for those of us in dry climates. Also, your new Lucky Shamrock ink is a new favorite. Cheers!
Nathan, it is always great to see new videos from you. I'll have to watch this slowly over the course of a few days, but it will get watched. Hope you have a great 2024. I have filled many notebooks with Heart of Darkness, standard black and Legal Lapis (not to mention most of the semi-bulletproof inks) and I know I'll continue to do so in the new year.
OK, Nathan - you got me. Picked up a Thule Konrad via Pure Pens. Very cool to see my large bottles in that snapshot. Watched the whole video, yet again. Thank you for doing another long one.
Nathan, you didn’t bore me at all. I have greatly profited from all your videos, but this may be the most interesting and informative of them all. Thank you so much for this video; I hope you do more.

I'm sick of all the proprietary crap. I bought the Dover and new Valentine ink, and the pen is absolutely beautiful. I'm waiting for the ink to be delivered and will use the two together. I plan on buying the other new pens as well. Two question please, would you ever consider selling the "bad" ink labels as lithographs as you did a long time ago? I would buy them all. Did Shahs Rose have two different labels before the catfish? Thank you so much for all that you do!

I could also see those being the pen loops on a map case of some form, though in none of those guesses do the metal staples make sense. Also look about the right size to hold chemlights, although I don't know when those came into service.
@@InkNeedLastForever Definitely stumps me! Those loops look too small to hold much more than a pistol magazine, or maybe shotgun shells on the outside of a magazine carrier? If Cotton Butyrate is biodegradable why aren't all the grocery bags and drinking straws made from it? Even if it smells funny I'd rather drink from a Noodler's Drinking Straw than constantly peel my lips off a paper straw. Someone needs to test how long it takes a 0.1mm film of Cotton Butyrate to dissolve in the ocean.

Very informative, thank you for sharing the knowledge. It made me think of several comments/questions. 1. If the ink you were using (NI Black I think) were given an extra shot of surfactant (I use Triton or photoflo or “white lightning”, don’t know what “eel” compound NI uses) would it have enhanced the flow to start ? I thought maybe the vintage nibs had a patina of oil inhibiting flow?…, 2. Would you make a vid on acid etching nibs? Would Muriatic acid work? 3. Should FP enthusiasts start buying up ebonite feeds in view of their upcoming scarcity? 4. Have you seen the series of vids titles “Masters of the fountain pen”? There were originally 8 of them on RUclips. They are an AWESOME documentation of WW2 era Japanese pen craftsmen in the early 2000’s. Some have now passed. I will share links with anyone who asks on this comment feed. Final question: 5. Would you consider Ver.2 of the Ahab redesigned to post more deeply? No cap alteration, only barrel redesign? This is wrong based on quick reading. Polished ebonite is hydrophobic. It is the machining which creates favorable capillary action. Plastics and surface treatments can in turn be controlled to preference. If a manufacturer's product is restrictive, it is probably by design to avoid leakage which would damage workplace acceptance of fountain pens and embarrass the user.
whats even the point of your comment? you call something wrong based upon you're on admitted 'quick reading'...? i really don't even know what you're trying to call wrong. nothing in the video description suggests to the contrary. really really weird comment.
