So the Save Me MV is actually one shot (and is not BU related). They struggled a lot filming due to weather conditions. It was raining, windy, and they were on uneven ground. Props to them and the staff for staying to get the perfect take. Also the dance break

Also, if you don't know yet... RM's verses in Save Me (2016) and I'm Fine (2018) are reflection of each other. If you dissect RM's I'm Fine verse, it is exactly inverse in form and in meaning of his Save Me verse. 😊 It has shown the growth of their mindset, also if you continue TRoB, you'll realize that their discography really speaks their journey, it's their story of growth as humans and artists.

That's why I think that - after falling in the rabbit hole, listening to their songs freely , just tracking your mood or following the suggestions, it's a good thing to step back, and listen to their whole albums, in chronological order. Because they tell us a story through their discography, and it's so sad to miss totally this part.

BTS discography is like peeling layers of onion, it got many interwoven layers to it (listener's POV, conceptual theme, BU, & BTS' history/personal stories), and it will hit you more and more emotionally the more you peel it. Their lyricism is really god tier coz they condensed all those POV's in a beautiful, excellent and profound lyricism that could be interpreted in multiple ways that can all make sense. Their metaphors and interconnection of their songs are just simply brilliant.
the Save Me music video is amazing!! Especially when you know that they did it in one continuous shot, IN THE RAIN, on sand. There is a BTS Bomb behind the scenes video about the filming of the video. The camera man and his assistant were amazing! Such stamina. check it out.

The cameraman and crew deserve more acknowledgment. The amount of labour they put into these videos is top tier and the proof is in the result. It is this collaboration of professionals that artist can fully express a vision.
I definitely recommend the behind the scenes video for Save Me also! To anyone who hasn't seen it yet, it is do worth it!! Trust me. 🥰
The intro to both songs sounds similar. I'm Fine intro is Save Me backwards. Listen carefully you'll catch it.
SAVE ME is the backwards of IM FINE, the lyrics, the song and the perfomance is inverse. Even RM's verse in IM FINE is the opposite of SAVE ME, because the two songs have the meaning of evolution in yourself and are like a "continuation".
While SAVE ME is begging for being saved, for someone else, because u cant alone and u cant stay with yourself without the help of that person, can be for being hurt or for emotional dependence with other, IM FINE is the evolution, saving yourself, being okay with just ur persona, without waiting for someone else, because u are fine with you, u can control ur life and your emotions, and if sometimes u cant, its okay, because u have yourself and its enough for comforting ur hurt feelings.

This have relation with the albums too, its known that them do differents concepts of meanings, sides and moments of life for showing the evolution they or one person can have with themselves, others and the world. Like, u will dont find a song called "I Love Myself a Lot" in an album called "I hate myself".😭
Its just incredible the representation of each thing in life, like SAVE ME (2016): depending of someone else, and IM FINE (2018): feeling great with yourself, and the times/years show that. Because its not like they are "oh, yeah, dont liking yourself, good for a song", its because they a lot of times said to us the individual problems they had with it, its not a song, its THEIR story, music that we can feel related and we can just FEEL without problems, because is so human and real, the evolution is real, and we know the feelings and emotions are from the two sides, they feel it, we feel it, and we dont judge each other, we help and understand each other with their music. Thats why i love them, so sincere, pure and real, bro. If there's a song of them saying the education system is a sh*it, its because they think is a sh*it, and the listeners can say is a sh*it too because they will not judge us, and we feel them with the topic, lool.

Save Me tends to get all the love due to the amazing video, but I'm Fine is one of my favorite songs of theirs for just the brilliance of the reversal, lyrics and movement into Love Yourself and the live choreography which is so beautiful.
I still remember gasping watching for the first time and seeing the words do a 180.

Since I'm Fine has no dance practice I think to truly appreciate and see the choreography in full is to watch their performance on Jimmy Fallon. I don't often praise the camera work at talk shows but the camera work was great for that performance.

Personally I prefer their Mnet debut performance of Save Me and I’M. I do Mnet is tricky to react to. I think most reactors do have to pause a few times…just my opinion though…

I love "I'm Fine"... it's a mantra song... they are literally giving us the "FIGHTING spirit"!
The Save me video is, as many have said, remarkable and outstanding. But this is artistry rooted in poverty - they could only afford one day and no editing time, so it was done in one take (though they worked several different run-throughs) and the technical team and camera crew were amazing!
They did such a good job with it and only one take is amazing! they are so tight with their dancing it blows me away

I'M FINE is the sequel to SAVE ME. In a certain font, it's an ambigram. Someone can explain it better and technically, but musically the songs are related as parts are backwards? Andrew Berg caught it =) and i think geeked out about it.

The way the wrote these two songs years apart to go together like a yin and yang and how they perform it live always blows me away. The way the filmed the one shot MV on a cold rainy day also fits it so well. Also the choreography for I’m fine is so powerful and beautiful.
We don’t really know that they wrote these songs years apart. I’ve learned that there is nothing coincidental to BTS. I think they planned this from the start. They just released them at different times to coincide with the album concepts.

I would love to see you react to these songs that are older but so good: “We On,” “The Rise of Bangtan” ( the dance practice is amazing), “Paradise,” and “Jump.” These are amazing songs that people often forget about but which really showcase various musical styles. I'm so glad that the lyric breakdown from a Korean was added for "Save Me". I had never watched that before and it made me love the song and Namjoon's lyricism even more than I did before! As a writer myself I can really appreciate his play on words and it proves to me that once again that Bangtan's lyrics should be approached as decoding a wonderful work of poetry rather than a casual understanding of a pop song. I was really hoping when they were uploading their dance practices this year for Festa I'm Fine would be one of them, but unfortunately it wasn't. I know HYBE has it somewhere and they are keeping it from us, LOL. I also would love an Anpanman dance practice.
I personally love I'm Fine more than Save Me which is different I think than most people.
I LOVE the connection these songs have, and Fake Love have with one another. My favorite interpretation:
-IN Fake Love the backdrop behind V says, Save Me but if you flip it, it says I'm Fine.
-I'm fine is like telling people you are fine or okay when you're not.
-Save Me is an internal feeling of not being okay
-these two while simultaneously presenting I'm fine as an external behavior and save me as an internal feeling
-Also the beat for I'm Fine is actually uses the same beat as Save Me but it is played like backgrounds or flipped. Hopefully this makes sense.

I'm Fine was the 2nd song I just had to learn to sing to, after Spring Day 💜😄 Then I heard the next BTS song, same, then the next, and next. Before I knew it, I learned to sing along somewhat to almost every song 😂 What RM said is true, their songs just get better every time you hear it. ❤️💜
Um…what? Ok thanks for reminding me how difficult the Korean language is…as much as I would love to learn it, and know their lyrics better I’m so lost. Anyway, love these songs, esp I’m fine. The attention to detail is amazing here in that they flipped things in the instrumental. The lyrics and even the order in which the rapline performed between the two.

I don’t think I am smart enough for that explanation but it sounds amazing. This is the reason I always feel like I’m trying to do math when trying to learn another language. That looked like math! It’s beautiful but my brain is overheating lol. I did just remember that in the Tiny Desk performance the translation was “gave my sadness to the dog” and I thought it was a cute mistake but it’s an alt translation. So I did learn something.

Thanks for this reaction! I loved the explanation of RM's verse in Save Me. My favorite connection between these two is that the repeated synth melody in I'm Fine is a retrograde version of the repeated synth melody in Save Me. It's the same thing backwards (though maybe at a different pitch level). I think it was Andrew Berg who brought that to my attention, and it blows my mind :)

wow.. as a korean, i know there is missing meanings in the trans, but didn't know this much. how thankful naturally i understanding that nuances in verses...
that im fine performance is not that good camera work. (but it has good sound and video quality.) it's more complicated and fast but it didn't seem that well! i recommend another live perf/
It was a one shot and like others commented it was rainy, windy and actually very cold. The funny thing was that at one point Suga messed up and they had to redo the entire video because of the one shot thing. So everyone was like "SUGA!!!" it was actually a funny moment but probably not that funny at the time. But it was truly a cool video.
Korean is in subjects not just one letter at a time. So its like the way we conjugate adverbs. They do it with every verb has the adverb as well as the conjugation of the noun like "we do this nicely" so Korean is very beautiful in the way they describe each verb. So when translation Korean into English it is harder than you may think.
The thing with Save Me and Im fine is that it is the same melody basically but backwards. So that was the need for double time in the corus. As you can see in the live. Save Me is a call out to ARMYs to help them and Im Fine was a call back that they are Fine Now and are able to help each other out of their troubles so ARMY has done their job and was a thank you.

Thanks for the intro to that channel! I really liked her. Gonna watch again at 0.75x so I can catch >10%. LOL For me, wrapping my head around Korean sentence structure and subject/object particles at the same time is still an impossibility. Save me, TinyTan! 😆
I see you’re doing a lot of BTS but I encourage you to dive deeper into ATEEZ from your Guerrilla reaction. From their debut song “Pirate King” to “Wave”, “Answer”, “Wonderland”, “Hala Hala” and “Fireworks” they experiment with a lot of different sounds and use an edm anti-drop in a lot of their work. They absolutely thrive with a more rock-like sound which makes them different from most of the kpop industry. They have a whole story line as being pirates. Each of the inserts within their albums and their music videos give hints and spoilers into their story.
They have 8 members. Hongjoong is the leader. Seonghwa, Yunho, Mingi, San, Yeosang, Wooyoung, and Jonhgo. Jongho is the maknae (youngest) and the main vocalist who you hear hitting all of high notes. His voice is incredibly powerful!
I speak Korean and that video breaking down the rap was way too intense… 😅

would appreciate if for future lyric videos, you picked ones that have bigger text, darker colors or are just easier to read along for us in general
The reason we use those lyric videos whenever possible is because they are the most accurate of all the channels. We'll keep that in mind though. 💜

These two songs are beautiful! BTS saying it's okay to ask for a hand/help and then telling us we are strong, pick yourself up, you'll be fine. And it's okay to feel both ways. Fighting!💜
I rarely see any comments that fully capture what's happening in "I'm Fine" in terms of the contrast between the outward confidence of the lyrics and the frantic, desperate and exhausted feeling conveyed in the choreo and their expressions. When I first saw this in performance, the sadness and the contradiction between the "I'm fine" and the tired affect at the end was so strong that I needed to know why it was so sad. The more I look at the words of these two songs, the more convinced I am that they are two ways of being in the struggle and crying for help: "Save Me" asks and is thankful for help from the outside, while "I'm Fine" is a person who hides the struggle with bravado and yet those around them know that it is also a cry for help. We know the boys made it through because of their determination and unwavering support of each other, and the current phase of their development is the Proof.

We all feel as they do at one point in our life. This one resonates. It's a fav for sure. Always when I hear it I remember my battle with cancer and the chemo. Yes, its one take! There are Bangtan Bombs for behind the scenes pls check them out. =0) We mentioned it was one take guess u forgot. But its ok because u got a great surprise! yeah!!! Suga is very gifted. He is one of a very few fast rappers. Some ppl say he is the Eminem of Korea. But RM can rap dang fast too. You will see when you get more into his solo stuff. Never knew about the reverse order of the notes, and the rappers going in reverse. Very cool. Great job spotting this! Suga and J-hope are SOPE ME as a unit. We love SOPE!!! They so funny together and sound amazing back to back. =0) The boy meets _ at the end of the Save Me MV was basically a teaser for the future drop of their track "boy meets evil." They used to do this often in their older songs. "Boy meets evil" is a J-hope solo song. It is also an intro to their Wings album. Or should I say The "boy meets-" is actually the concept of the wings album. The full sentence is "boy meets evil". Wings album is based on a book called "demian." The music video for is it pretty cool. Very deep song. Hobi is very talented. I love in I'm fine how the choreography matches the lyrics. It's so beautiful. Both songs are bops. I love them and feel very connected to each one. I am a cancer survivor and the songs echo what I said to myself and others while I was battling cancer with chemo. It's Genius!! Every time I listen to these two songs in a row, I get goosebumps and I like how the two songs are connected. If you play 'I'm Fine' at 0.75x magnification and listen at 3:19! You can hear 'Save Me''s melody/instrument clearly. You can also hear Tae saying "Save Me" many times throughout the reversed version. I strongly believe these songs are also connected to BU story.

@JohnReavesLive Hi, John! If you're exploring "explained" channels, I suggest a very obscure one, Minidance. Though on hiatus for years now, her explanations for Fire, Go Go, Dope, RM's Seoul, and Jimin's Promise are great, with personal interpretation based on syntax similar to Piece of Korean Culture. I found her Promise explanation _indispensable_. She is really clear and fun.
She also has a k-pop MV director friend who was "almost hurt by their high standard" watching Blood Sweat & Tears and Idol. In my 4 yrs of haunting RUclips BTS reactors, I have *never* seen a western reactor react to Korean reactors! I think it would be cool to show how a K-ARMY and someone in the industry see them.

I love how musical motifs recur across all of the BTS catalog, including their solo albums. As i was listening to Save Me, I realized that some of instrumentation and melody in the verse is echoed in People on SUGA's AgustD D-2 album. It's just such a cohesive way of connecting their artistry and planting Easter eggs for us to find.

Hey John. You gotta watch BTS live "I'm Fine" on Jimmy Fallon. In my opinion, it's their finest "I'm Fine" performance due to the camera work/angle. The storytelling, emotions, artistry, and choreography of this song is amazing in this performance.
Save me is one of my favorite BTS song , I don't know exactely why, but it touch me a lot. And I'm in admiration in front of the composition Save me/I'm fine, the musical creativity, the meanings , the choregraphy , which speak loud , all ! Incredible ambigramm. Also,, The making of the MV was the first I watch back in time, and it was the first time I realise how much effort they put on every performance, recording, choregraphy, how dedicated and professional they were (and still are) . And how Lumpens Team is great ! The camera man choreo is very on point , too !! 😆
Definitely watch the behind the scenes for save me. The guys were literally running to keep out of Frame behind the camera man!! It was crazy.
The linguistic nerd in me geeked out about the language breakdown and diagrams, so even though it was a difficult and lengthy dissection of the sentence structure and meaning, I am so happy that you included it. The two songs go so well together! I really love the Save Me video and as several people have mentioned the Bangtan Bomb showing the shooting of the video is awesome! I liked the in depth discussion of RM's lyrics - I think we miss a lot by not speaking Korean. I really wish I could understand them in their language. There is another reactor Andrew Berg - he's a jazz musician and reacts to BTS songs. He did an in depth comparison of the two songs and how they were similar and dissimilar - really cool.
I'm glad that you went in depth because I'm learning korean and this helps. It also helps to appreciate Namjoon's genius brain, I never get tired of that. 💜
Me as a korean learner and that explaination of save me is so interesting 🤣 i never actually tried breakdown kpop lyrics as one of a learning way but woww i should really try that. I should watch that channel 😂
The music is the same in both songs but played backwards in Im Fine....the way they write save me...spells i'm fine if you turn it upside down
I'm Fine was literally my chemo song/mantra. I got to see them sing it live at PTD LA & BAWLED like a baby lol
Seeing how nuanced and complex Korean can be to translate to English makes me appreciate RM more for learning English on his own using a sitcom. It had to be so difficult to figure out on his own jeez. So impressive
"I'm Fine" was well executed to the point of putting my analytical mind into a trance and giving me a moving, emotional experience.
