P. Diddy used this for the Godzilla movie and Jimmy Page played guitar for him. Zeppelin did this in 1975... Zeppelin is the greatest band to ever grace the planet!
Such fun watching the reaction. I was at this show. I am in the audience watching. Spent the day watching a succession of bands playing in the English sun in the grounds of Knebworth House, looking behind us people as far as you could see. Then as it went dark on they came, bloody amazing. I was a Punk rocker at the time, but still appreciated good rock.
Good point you make - it was such a volatile time, musically - I was in a band back then at the age of 16 (Page was my hero and I learned guitar because of him) and we covered a couple of Zep and Thin Lizzy songs but also a couple by the Pistols and Damned too - it was all the same to us - just kick-ass music with attitude
Robert Plant, turned 31 weeks after these shows, turned 75 this August. He still writes and performs ... He is considered one of the greatest vocalists of all time, and not just in the "Rock" genre, being voted 15th all time on Rolling Stone Mag's list. They hadn't played live in 2 years leading up to this, 4 years on English soil, since the death of his 5 yr old son Karic ended their last US tour 10 dates short in 77. They were paid the single largest fee for a performance by any band up until this point to headline this huge open-air venue that had been putting on these festivals since 74. When they announced their benefit concert at the 02 Arena in 2007, 20 million requests for tickets to the one-time farewell show were made in 2 hours, literally breaking the internet, and setting the world record for ticket requests to any show, anywhere, of all time! A lottery was used to reward 18k+ lucky fans, check out some lives of this performance. They rehearsed for 6 weeks after not playing together for 27+ years, with John Bonham's son, Jason, on the drum kit.
Attendance at these Knebworth concerts was 210,000 first night and 180,000 second night of following weekend. Unbelievable welcome back from their long hiatus.
This is the song the band is most proud of, Robert wrote the lyrics while him & Jimmy drove across the Sahara Desert. It took a couple years, to get the music the way they wanted. Robert loves Morocco so much, & goes there often. The song is about the people & music, & the landscape there, a great song with many layers to it. Robert & Jimmy at some point after the group split up, got Moroccan musicians to tour with them.
They were traveling through Morocco, Jimmy and Robert, listening to various performers, and drove over a long desert road. This is from their experience.
Great reaction. Notice how Jimmy Page's guitar volume increases throughout the song. Love the sound of that particular Danelectro guitar, tuned specifically for this song.
Knowing how much Gabe loves his guitars, I was really worried he wouldn't like this, so I am really glad/relieved he did! Phew! You need to show him Queen, Under Pressure now - goes along a similar vein. Wembly 86 live is a good version.
Like many Zeppelin songs, the lyrics can be taken literally, or figuratively and symbolically. Kashmir is an oasis in a desert...but you could interpret it to mean much more.
If it wasn't for zeppelin their would be no metal! Back in 69 zeppelin gave birth to metal around the three minute mark on Dazed and confused metal was born! After their first album we got Black Sabbath who said Zeppelin was a huge influence to them! As Ozzy said when zeppelins first album debut it was mind blowing! And changed the direction the music would go!
It's not the soundtrack to Godzilla! It was a song they used for a small part of the movie! Diddy got permission to cover the song but Jimmy Page said only I do the guitar to the song! So Jimmy Page played the guitar for the soundtrack!
Definitely check out "Since I've been Loving You" live at MSG '75! But I also recommend checking out "Kashmir" from their Celebration Day concert, if not on your channel at least on your own time...they are in their 60's and imo it is a WAY more epic version than this one! The concert (in 2007, I think), when announced, sold out in 20 min. and had over 20 million ticket requests!❤
Sad, but the drummer would be dead in a year from this concert. And that was the end of Zeppelin. If you watch the reunion concert from around 2006 or the Heart tribute of Stairway, the drummers son fills in for him.
Many favourite Zeppelin songs? Depends on my mood. But whenever Black Dog or Been a Long Time since I Rock n' Rolled comes over the car radio, volume gets pumped...
I'm another of Led Zepplin's fans who think this song is better than Stairway to Heaven(which is a great song). There is just something haunting and otherworldly about this song that always stands out to me.
Not all songs from the 70s that were sampled or paid for. A lot of times the artist didn’t wanna go through the hassle taking someone to court so they let it go. It doesn’t happen much anymore.
Not a big fan of first time reactions to live versions. The thing about a live performance is that you're there, a part of the crowd, the atmosphere. You lose all that watching on a screen. BUT you can capture some of that back with a properly recorded/engineered studio version. Just my take.
This is good but the original studio version off Physical Graffiti is better. In this particular case nothing beats the original. Because #1 it sounds better and #2 vocalist Robert Plant doesn't screw up the songs lyrics.
I guarantee that Mr Daddy made almost nothing from that cover! Don't worry the lions share of writing credits would have gone to Page, and Bonham! Come With Me didn't sample Kashmir, it was a cover, and it certainly wouldn't have been theft!
All kinds of music, genres, were influenced by older music genres😂Jimi Hendrix, was fan of Bach😂Jimmy Page, loved Chopin! Rock stars took a lot of things from classical musicians😂Rappers, took a lot of things, from rock musicians😂If i remember, correctly, Jimmy Page, played the guitar, on the Puff daddy's cover! Where is the problem? I love all genres! Rappers, hip hop stars, created that genre, by listening to rock music, songs like KASHMIR, or WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS, from LED ZEPPELIN, or JIMI HENDRIX AND THE BAND OF GYPSIES.....Those geniuses created the beat, the way to play, and, sing, rappers used to created rap, hip hop, later.....That's normal.....Peace from France guys.....✌️👍
He didn’t rip a sample. Jimmy Page actually played the riff for the record and can be seen in the video for Come With Me if memory serves me right.
I believe you're correct. I heard that when asked to sample it Jimmy said you can use the riff as long as I can come play it.
@@scotttrainer9704 that sounds right to me!
Yes
I think they once performed it together on Saturday Night Live! (Or some TV show)
@@allanbluzdude I think it may have been an awards show.

Was also in Fastimes at Ridgemont High during the date scene
Yes. The greatest ever. God's.

That is crazy cool.

I was there too. Both weekends.
'79 Knebworth - I was there awesome day
Me too - only on the 2nd date though, which I believe was 11th Aug - I think this clip is from the earlier night on 4th Aug but I might be wrong
@@marktate9555 Me three.
I was there
Check out their Madison square garden live performance of Since I've Been Loving You
As soon as I heard this in 1975 it became my favorite Zeppelin song.

Rolling Stone Magazine was always against Led Zeppelin, so their opinion & lists don’t mean crap.
Attendance at these Knebworth concerts was 210,000 first night and 180,000 second night of following weekend. Unbelievable welcome back from their long hiatus.

I bet you could set your watch to John Bonham's drumming, tight AF.

The guy with the Polk High Jersey looks like the actor that played Freddie Mercury in the movie about Queen
First of all mate Teen Spirit came out like 20 years after and sounds nothing like Stairway...that said though shall learn that LZ are the GOATs
I was there ❤
The GOAT OF GOATS!😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I was at that gig, a mere 17yr old me!
Sometimes record labels push songs hard on radio stations and that makes them more popular.
If you like this, check out Marcin cover of this tune.
Try Gabe on whole Lotta love 😁
Apparently Kashmir is about a road trip.through a desert. Don't quote me on that.
o ya there is a video of p Daddy and page doing this together
I met Percy at a pre season friendly between Wolves and Man City
Now do The Lemon Song 🍋🎶
Do Celebration Day 2007! If you think this is great.
Have you done "Queen" live aid yet? Concidered as the best live performance ever.
Good suggestion. We haven’t done it yet but we shall
@@BoringReviews You'd love it, now and then I watch it on youtube and i still can't get my head around how good it was.
I believe the main riff was in one or more James Bond movies.
Check out the version of Kashmir that Gregorian does. Either studio or live. It's really cool to hear Russian monks do their version.
Kashmir i believe is an area, i don't htink it is actually a country, but it is a place.

OMG watch the 1975 live!!!!!!!
Sting is only receiving his cut, it’s not a fixed payement .
Doesn't represent any string of KASHMIR the Olace in which the name of the song is.

Great live version, but the studio version is even better. Check it out.
Bonhams drumming in this blows away the studio version, so many improvised fills here.
guy on the right shouting, just talk.
I have officially stopped watching you because of the constant nirvana references.
Lol. He’s still a newbie to rock. Give me time to work on him. It just proves that he has little experience with the genre
