- The last couple of days of Camp! Writing as much as I can to cap off the month. What did my writing look like in July? How many words did I write for Camp NaNoWriMo, and what did the split look like between my two projects?
PS. It wasn’t sinus issues. I ended up getting the big ‘rona virus after finishing this vlog, so that’s fun! 😂

CURRENT PROJECTS:
“Pine Hollow” - This is my “cozy werewolf smut” series (term coined by Dolores Madil!) about a small town called Pine Hollow and the werewolves that are just trying to live their lives there. Slice of life, fated mates. Working on the zero draft of the first book-which was technically already written, but has been reworked/rebooted.
“Project Matcha Latte” - Contemporary queer romance about a weird girl named Olive who falls in love with the cool and charming Theo, a nonbinary barista. Working on the zero draft. [ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE]

The beginning of this video is exactly how I feel. I am so happy for everyone who gets to publish, get an agent, etc. but there will always be a part of me that is sad about it too, because I envy them and kind of talk myself down.
I legit screamed when you mentioned EPIC... It has inspired a book idea and whenever I listen to it I feel like I need to write it😅
@@ninanatascha It’s so hard! Whenever I see someone I follow or even someone I consider a friend getting to make that announcement, I immediately start comparing myself to them and spiraling. I’m always so afraid that when I congratulate them I’ll sound passive aggressive, and they’ll be able to tell how insanely jealous I am. It’s like, “I swear, I’m really, really happy for you!! I just hate myself!” 😂 So it’s really hard to balance healthy feelings about it.
AHHH I’m so curious!! Whatever the idea is, you should definitely write it. God, EPIC is just so good. 😭

Your rant at the beginning is exactly how i've been feeling about my writing. I need to take your advice (& my own advice) and stop comparing myself to other writers who are at much different points in their writing journey than i am. i'm so glad you crushed your writing goals and i hope to one day read your writing !!
Ahh thank you so much! I really appreciate that. 💖 I don't know why it's so easy to obsess and stress over all the things that aren't important right now, especially when I'm not even in a place to publish at the moment. I used to always hate when people said, "oh, comparison is the thief of joy," because it felt like one of those empty sentiments, but I had a moment of clarity one day and thought, 'oh geeze, that's what's happening here.' 😂 But! The first step is admitting it, and now we know what to work on!

I totally relate to what you were saying in the beginning of this video. Seeing other authors getting agents and deals is really disheartening sometimes (even tho I’m happy for them), and it often feels like if you’re not constantly promoting yourself and making content, then you’re never going to “make it”.
I’m bad at social media too. I’m barely good at making RUclips videos. I’m awkward and don’t have the best equipment and I don’t always know what I’m doing. Sometimes getting traditionally published seems like such a pipe dream because I don’t know if what I’m writing is what people even want to read.
But I’ll just keep writing and hoping for the best. Good luck to you and your publishing journey. I’m hoping that you see some success in the near future.
It's so hard! Especially when it's someone you consider a friend, because you're over the moon for them, but also like, "why not me?"
I so know what you mean about being awkward! Every time I think I know what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff, I do something to mess it up or something comes up and confuses me and derails me. It seems so easy for some people, and that's another thing that gets me tripped up about it all.
That's all we can do though, isn't it? Just keep on truckin'. Thank you so much, and I wish the same for you!! Even if it takes time, we're going to come out on top one day. Maybe we won't get that lucky break that so many other people get, but with enough heart and determination, anything is possible! 💖

Thank you so much! I get a little mopey sometimes, but somehow it's just easier to be negative lol. I'm just so obsessive and such an over-thinker, and it's ridiculous, considering I don't even have a finished draft yet. 😂 I have to remember that life is just one day at a time--and writing is just one word at a time!
