PowerPoint Stop Background Music Playing on Certain Slide

- Stop background music playing on a certain slide in PowerPoint. In this video tutorial, I want to stop my back music from playing when my video on slide 3 plays.
Fortunately, you do get some control over when music both starts and stops in a presentation.
In this video, the background music is set to stop after a specified number of slides so that it does not clash with the video's audio.

Hi, if you're wondering why your background music won't fade after setting it to the number of the slide where you wanted it to stop. Please start counting the slides from where your music is inserted upto the slide where you want it to stop.
For instance, you inserted the music in slide 4 and you want to end it in slide 10. Don't base the counting on the # of the slide, hence, start counting slide 4 as #1. So, basically, you will put #7 in the stop playing option. :)
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much, it helped me a lot
thank you very much!!! i was working on my game in powerpoint and i couldnt stop the music of the boss after he gets defeaten you're a lifsaver!
Thank you so much!!!! I spent so much of time on how to do this until I found your comment. Thanks once again .
Finally something helpful! Now THAT´s what I was looking for! Thanks man!!
You're very welcome 👍
I've been looking everywhere for how to do JUST THIS! Thanks, this REALLY helped out just in the nick of time!
Great to hear. Thanks Rick.
Hello, is there a way for the audio to continue after I've stopped it on this certain slide? Since the slide isn't the last one.
Brilliant! Thanks!! This was driving me crazy. Feels like the stop settings should just be at the top bar in the 'playback' settings.
Glad it helped!
PERFECT and to the point. Congrats on a great video tutorial. Very helpful.
Really happy to help. Thank you.
I couldn't find any solution until I saw your video.. Thanks a million
I can't tell you how helpful this was!!! I needed to do exactly this for my daughter's Zoom birthday party, and I had resigned myself to splitting the PowerPoint into separate documents to make the sound stop! You've helped us SO MUCH!!! Now it will be seamless and much easier to manage everything. :)
Thank you so much!!! Happy 2021!!!
Liked! Subscribed!
That is brilliant! Really happy to be able to help. I hope it goes seamlessly and your daughter has a wonderful birthday to remember.
@@Computergaga Thank you!
Thank You! I wanted to play a video on mute at the same time as an audio. But the video wasn't playing automatically at the same time as the audio. I used the "play across slides" options but I wanted to play only on that slide (the one with the video and audio). So, I followed your tutorial and set it to stop after one slide and it worked!
Thank you for the explanation. Is there any way to fade out the sound on the slide where we want the music end?
OMG Thank you so much!! I've been looking for this for literal months! You saved my life!
No problem 👍
More than 5 years to join the party, but precisely what I was seeking. Thank you!
Thank you! I never thought to look under Animation, I was doing everything through Transition!!
You're welcome Susan.
Well, I see I wont be first to said that but you are the man! No one on lots of new and fancy tutorials is explaining that!!! And they even dont give a crap in comments. I love you!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, brother 👍
freggin livesaver....my ppt was dead until I found you vid. It's so much cleaner without bkgd music playing with my vid...much props.
You're welcome Sean. Thank you.
Thank you brother. I'm from India with a short term member issue. Your tutorial has helped immensely.

Short but precise! exactly what I need today! Thank you so much

Thanks For The Information, Finally I Can Complete My Project😭🙏
Real essence of RUclips, thanks
Thank you.
Is there any way to resume the music after stopping it if the silent slide is in the middle of a presentation?
That’s what I’m trying to figure out
My only idea is trim the audio. If you set your timings to 5 sec per slide and the video is on the third slide, you want the audio to stop at 10 seconds. So,after the video, put the same audio but trim the first ten seconds of the audio. That's my only idea. Hope it helps. Sorryfor replying after three weeks.
yea i agree with @Hacker 18, you just have to stop the audio at one point, then start it again from the slide you want to continue it at, note where you start it from you should also start the audio from where you ended
AMAZING BRO! THANK YOU SO MUCH! NOW I CAN MAKE INCRIDIBLE PRESENTATION!!!
No problem.
@@Computergaga how do you open the audio file?
You are a lifesaver!!!!!! Thank you!
My pleasure.
This will be useful for what I’m making thanks
Thanks. Very helpful. All I wanted to do was remove the background audio playing across all slides. Your tips led me to the right place: Animation Pane.
This tip was a lifesaver, so thanks. I don't quite understand why my PowerPoint slide show runs sixteen minutes and forty seconds but the generated video was only fifteen minutes and fifty-seven seconds. I was creating a storyboard for a TV pilot, and that meant changing the background music whenever the story changed from informational to funny to dramatic. In the slide show, each audio clip was perfectly in sync with the visual story and faded out just in time for the next mood change; in the generated video, they kept overlapping each other by a few seconds, and that sounded terrible. Anyway, even though I think a PowerPoint slide show should generate a video of the same length, I'm grateful for the assistance.
Sounds great. You're welcome Dean.
Thx this is exactly what i needed rn
Great!
It's always the simple options that I miss. Thanks for the tip mate.
Your welcome Sean.
Thank you for this awesome vid. Short and sharp, straight to the point.
You're welcome. Thank you.
Is it possible to make the background music start again on a fourth slide from where you left off when you stopped it?
hello, did you figure how to make this work?
Also searched how to do this but the only way to start the audio again is by adding the same audio file to the 4th slide, just trim the audio file so that it wont start at the beginning
trully wonderful, I never got it before even I used pptx more then 20 years, thanks so much gentlemen
Thank you Agustin 👍
Thank you so much for this video! The tutorial helped me out A LOT!!
Great to hear.
same best tutorial on yt i needed this for a school project :)
This is what I've been looking for! Super helpful. Thank you!
My pleasure. Thank you.
Really informative and helpful video. I did not know this was possible. Surprised Microsoft keeps this setting buried in PowerPoint.
Thanks Vh9network.
Thanks man I had an annoying sound on a PPT's company and finally I could delete it thanks to your tuto :D
Glad I could help!
I'm so happy you explained it. I tried to find something online and I wouldn't have located the Effect Options! Thank you so much!
I'm glad you found it useful.
Just what I needed!
Excellent!
Thank you so much for posting this! Very helpful!
You're so welcome!
Thank you so much. I just saw this video. Is there a way to pause and resume music during a presentation if you need to stop playing music when you are speaking? Or in this case, what if you had slides after Slide 3 and you wanted the music to start again and continue until the end? Thank you
I couldn't find out a way to resume the music after stopping it, but I just added the audio again to the slide after the video (what would be slide 4 in this tutorial) and re-started it there
@@Cleoinlove wow thanks! this actually helps. Love lots
OMG THANK YOU! I’ve been trying to figure this out for hours now lol. You are a life saver!
Glad I could help!
Great job. Thanks for the tip!!!! Have a great day!
You are so welcome!
How do I continue the background music?
I did not find any option to continue automatically the music. You can add the song again to the next slide and there is an option to set up on second exactly when the music should begin. It works when you are timing the whole ppt as I did.
Thanks for a very clear instruction!
You're welcome, thank you Pryor.
Thank you so much, very helpful.. this problem took my time so much. Thank you!
Your welcome Atika, thanks.
You are a life saver. Thank you, brother
You're welcome Sahadev.
Thanks for making this video. What if someone wants to have slide 1,2 and 4 with background music and slide 3 with no music.
Thank you this really helped alot
Your welcome Yoko
Thanks, mate!
you've saved my marks!
👍
It was kinda obvious, to the point that it makes me feels ashamed for needing a tutorial for this. Yet, it was not as stupid as when I looked for how to remove the Windows Weather window....
I forgot to say, really good tutorial. Thanks!
No worries. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I searched a lot before finding this video and watching it made me really excited because you exactly described what I nees.✌🏻
Excellent! Happy to help.
Thank you very much for this tutorial!
My pleasure.
This is good. But how if that slide is in the middle? I want only stop on slide 3 and same music should continue from slide 4. how?
Yeah, but then how do you restart the music in the background after a specific video plays. I can't find any video on it anywhere.
Thanks, very helpful, and your accent is wonderful ;)
Thank you very much 😊
Thank you so much been looking everywhere for how to get this to work and your the only one!
You're very welcome Megan 👍
Finallyyyyy....Thank you so much.
You're welcome 😊
Exactly what I needed, thanks alot!
You're welcome David, thank you.
I am looping a portion of audio over 12 slides, on the last slide, i would like it to fade instead of abruptly stopping. When I apply "fade" it fades it after every playback of the loop, not on the last slide of the loop. Is there a way to fix this?
Good video, thank you very much. You helped me about my project of Sv. Sava
You're welcome Aleksandar.
Thanks a lot for saving the day!!!
You're welcome, Krish.
Thanks for Your help...
I was really seeking for that option.
You're welcome Amhed. Thank you.
Not as advertised. It doesn't stop the music on a specific slide, only after two slides have elapsed after it has started. This only works for linear powerpoints. Hopefully Microsoft can change this feature to specify music stopping on slide 3.
exactly what I wanted....thanks
Glad I could help
THANK YOUU
You're welcome.
Short and Sweet - Thank You!
You're welcome, Manish.

ok my powerpoint have multiple videos that aren't in order and i want the music on stop on each one then pick up again afterwards is that posible?
Hi, I am trying to do this exact same thing. Have you managed to work it out? Thanks.
I'm trying to accomplish the same thing. Have you found a solution?
Have you guys find out yet?
nick paul any answer to this?
I didn't know how to do it either. I simply took the original track and inserted it into the slide, after my video ended. It wasn't the best transition but it worked.
Hello sir, do you have any idea about the problem when I recorded the video the sound cut off when i did animations
Thank you so much! Very helpful, saved a lot of time.
You're welcome. Great to hear. Thank you.
Helped me so much, thank you!
is there anyway to resume the audio after slide 3?
That's what I am looking for to. Did you ever find a way to do this?
I can't think of any, but you can definitely add it again and start it again. Or use Audacity to splice it and start it again at a different place.
@@EduPotvin adding it again doesn't really work for me. I need a way to make it start from where it last stoped
@Pandora Stavrou Well. I found out it's impossible to do it, but it worked for me like that: I stopped the music on the slide where i have video, cut the audio file, so you have two different audio files, and added the new music to the slide that is right after the slide with the video. Im not very good at english, hope you understand. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)
This helped me so much I love you
Great to hear. Love you too!
Champion! Thank you!
