Its extremely hard to quantify return on capex of AI. its like trying to project return on the internet in dollar terms.

Bean counters talking about the impact of ASI... It's like having a lightbulb in 1900 and trying to predict 2nm semiconductors.

Well to be fair the context is the revenues of the Mag 7. So it's very easy to quantify (how much $ are they collecting for their AI products/services they sell).

This logic is crazy. Telecom capex does not have a 2-3 payback. Nor do railroads or roads or any other kind of infrastructure. Where is this arbitrary rule that it has to be paid back in 2-3 years?

That is what most do. Buy worthless penny stock they think will be « the next FAANG/m7» . 1/10000 make money on that strategy 😂

I still can't believe people are complaining "where's the payback! AI is bunk!" AI is like a baby that was born a few hours ago. It's still in the hospital nursery waiting for clearance to go home with its parents.... A little patience maybe?

The brain consumes about 20% of a person's calories. Does that mean that IT as a whole including AI will consume that much power eventually?
