He definitely did not say they are specifically providing a path to get warmind cell generating weapons. He said they will have a path to participate for any power relevant weapons, and used that as an example. Warmind cell mods are going to be sunset in 2 seasons like everything else from worthy. @@ObmanaCare we’re getting VoG sometime, so we’ll have that loot pool. honestly though, i think that Bungie wouldn’t cycle out any raids until the next expansion comes along with more.
Homie....they didn’t go crazy, it was just big because there was no system before so they had to take out stuff, now ittl just keep rolling, they aren’t changing the system anymore
In just about every difficult solo activity there is you should be running warmind cells. They’re definitely all that for solo players as they give you massive booms in terms of debuffs, add clear, and survival that you need playing solo. I honestly can’t remember the last time I or anyone I know used some kind of warmind cell team build.
@Christopher Ikelos SMG is literally the best PvE primary in the game. It definitely does not hurt you at all to run. Plenty of other great ones too. Thing is, you dont need massive add clear in multiplayer. Warmind cells are extremely important to clear more adds when alone because you dont have multiple friends to help you clear stuff. Also, making a ton of warmind cells is completely redundant as most adds die to one.
@Christopher No need to get uncivilized. I used Ikelos SMG almost all day getting the day one raid emblem. I formulate my own opinions and have used Ikelos SMG in grandmaster nightfalls, solo master empire hunts, master lost sectors, and use it because it does what no other weapons can do. You obviously aren't very good at the game and that's okay.
@Christopher okay but graviton lance can kill 2, maybe 3 adds with its explosion, and with the extremely long and difficult process of shooting a warmind cell, you can clear literally ever single enemy in a room, without using an exotic slot which you could use for lament, izinagi, witherhoard, or literally anything else that actually helps you. I also love how you assume I get my information from youtubers and then proceed to say that youtubers told you it was bad. If you value youtubers so much look at what datto uses the entire video lmao
Datto: "How are we making every season the best time to jump back into Destiny, if you ask" Me who looks at the seasonal armor ornament as the sole factor: "hmm, yes, interesting"
I think another issue people haven't really noticed is that the first season of the year doesn't really have value. Since you get 3 more seasons of use in my mind there is no need to grind weapons like high albedo or friction fire since I have warmind counter parts and they won't serve me past anything this year.
As someone who can't really afford season passes it's pretty nice to be able to get some of the good weapon's in world drop now (ikelis first in last out etc) but I understand people wanting new stuff to go for but keeping season pass weapons eventually in world drop would be nice
and apparently they need to hire a lot more gun design devs to do so in the future.. The sad part is that people don't see through Bungie's bullshit when they've been doing this stuff for years.
@@chrisgironda1746 yea I'm at the point where I'm done with destiny and done with bungies shit. They've basically ruined the game and paid content is unusable which is bs
This is what frustrates me the most about Datto, he will say one thing, then turn around and ask for the opposite: Datto: I agree with sunsetting. Also Datto: Don't sunset warmind builds! Datto: Sunsetting will keep things fresh. Also Datto: Core playlists are boring even with new guns. Also, old guns are better than no guns. When will Bungie/Datto realize that guns are not content and no amount of guns can make the game less boring? He gets so close to realizing that weapon sunsetting/cycling is a complete waste of time, but then completely misses the mark. These resources could be better spent developing more missions and upgrading the core systems (playlists, vendors, customization).
I'd be alright with sunsetting if it functioned slightly differently. Just cap out sunset gear at the soft cap. That way you can't easily take them into pinnacle content, but CAN use them in casual content whenever you want. As it stands, you can't use "old" gear in PATROLS of all places. The most casual content in the game is too strong for sunset gear, which goes directly against what Bungie said it would do. As for strike playlists, give it something like the ranking in PvP and Gambit. Then, make all of them more rewarding to play (especially harder versions of content). Finally, all dungeons and raids present in the game NEED to stay at pinnacle cap until they are cycled into the DCV. That means updating the gear for Forsaken and the Moon. Sure, give it a week or two when a new location or expansion hits to update the LL's/Pinnacle gear. Let people enjoy the new stuff, push them into it, even. But after a short bit, update everything else. As it stands, most planets are dead (or nearly there). Give us a reason to go back.
@@xander7765 Except almost every game that is anything like an MMORPG has some sort of weapon sunsetting, and it also prevents the Mountaintop, Recluse, Anarchy PvE meta we were stuck in for almost 2 years
It’s nice to have things to look forward to, I feel like that’s been this game the whole time it’s existed. What we need is never there when we truly need it and then people are so burnt out they miss the “good” stuff. A lot of stuff they mentioned really needed to be there back in November when BL launched. Very rough to cut so much content and replace almost nothing for a high price. This hurts more for us that already paid and paid and paid and had this happen again. I don’t ever see these things not being a problem or not happening again. I truly feel like we will never get another TTK expansion, Forsaken was so very close, but still not it. Sunsetting isn’t just bad for the obvious reasons people have said, but it really does show “why bother with this game?” It’s incredibly repetitive, it doesn’t have enough to do ever to make it a main game unless you’re making money on an channel like this. If they’re just gonna sunset stuff always because they aren’t good at balancing then I understand even further why the player base has dipped and will probably continue that.

He knows, but if you've ever done high level stuff (he was doing a legend difficulty hunt) you know that hobgoblins and ESPECIALLY yellow bar hobgoblins regen their health at obnoxious rates, to the point where it's basically impossible to kill one through its shield without multiple people. If he just unloaded smg rounds into it, it would literally do nothing because it would be able to regen faster than he could damage it.
Past seasonal mod acquisition needs to be looked at, waiting for 1 chance a day for charged with light / warmind mods sucks for new and returning players...
Sunsetting has definitely limited our loadouts in high end content. There are actually no fast firing pulse rifles at all. Can't use my favorite weapon type in Iron Banner. There are no Arc Scout rifles. I would have liked one for the 1280 Perdition. We need a lot more weapons.
Remember how in challenge of the elders, there were weekly bonus modifiers to get extra score? Maybe there could be something like that in strikes, were you get bonus score from precision or something like that. Then, the higher score the better the rewards. Like maybe the high score reward could rotate between a guaranteed drop of a certain weapon, or have like 5 enhancement cores drop if you get a super high score.
One thing I already miss is the black armory forges, the forges gave you the weapons you wanted (not always the rolls but the odd curated roll). I feel the raid weapons should have been introduced into the blueprints Ada gave you in year 3 as it would make sense that she could reverse engineer the scout rifle, fusion, ect, and have the forges cough it out with the weekly blueprints she offered. Honestly i'd love to see that sort of mechanic reintroduced. That and i'm still waiting for SRL (Sparrow Racing League) to come back, hell make it an actual playlist activity like gambit, strikes and crucible. So when the event is active have special rewards like the guardian games did, Then when the event is over have it so it has a playlist activity/private match function for fun.
Honestly bro fuck this game. I held off on buying beyond light and I'm glad I did. They break the whole ass game and then say okay give us a year and we'll fix it. Bungie is beyond stupid and for every step they take forward they take about 7 steps back. It's just the same cycle over and over again
Shadow Keep and Forsaken are also required for Nightfall Ordeals when those strikes are in rotation. To do last week's Nightfall my friend, who's been out for two years, had to purchase Forsaken to get his weekly reward.
“Frustration seeing people using guns you can’t earn anymore.” That’s what’s even more frustrating. I PAID to get those weapons. I bought the dlc to earn those weapons. If other players didn’t play during then, well shit sucks to be them. Literally every Online RPG games do this exact same thing. It creates rarity and incentives.
Agreed, it's a little elitist but I've lost motivation to grind for anything in the game. Seasonal mods, exotic weapon quests, pinnacle weapons... Why waste the time I have plenty of materials to just buy them from the kiosk when they get put in there. Really makes me feel like I wasted my time doing all those quests. But oh no if someone misses out on something that came out 2 years ago.
I agree with your point of view in a way but to be honest that's not the way to go about it. I'm speaking specifically about felwinter's lie and this will be a bit biased since I'm in this exact situation that I'm about to say but it's still not fair at all. I played in the first shadowkeep season and due to the lack of content in my opinion I just quit. I actually had bought all seasons but only played the first one which is either season 9 or 10 I'm not sure. Either way, I then came back in shadowkeep and every single gun I had is trash. My god roll mindbender's ambition with snapshot quickdraw is not useable anymore in trials and the only other viable option is felwinter's lie. In my opinion, making weapons unavailable to obtain anymore would be okay if sunsetting wasn't a thing. The fact that sunset limits the weapon pool by so much makes it straight up unfair to those who couldn't or even just didn't want to play a specific season and are essentially left to be farmed by those who did. TLDR.: I'd be totally okay if weapons stopped being earnable if sunsetting wasn't a thing. Since it is and the weapon pool is so small, it is just straight up unfair on light level enabled playlists.
I don’t use warmind cells at all. So if the ikelos weapons go away without a replacement, it won’t affect me. I don’t like the idea of being forced to use a specific weapon to be able to use a mod anyway. Hell, a lot of the new weapons this season put the Ikelos weapons to shame too which only exacerbates the desire to use anything but ikelos weapons, and by extension use anything but warmind cell mods.
All I really want for Forsaken and Shadowkeep is for their gear to drop at relevant levels while the content is considered active, if Dreaming City and the Moon ever get thrown into the content vault then yeah go ahead a sunset the weapons that went with them. Keeping these areas relevant would also lighten up on the feeling of sameness throughout the game as then activities like Blind Well and Nightmare Hunts would serve a purpose again. (Having Nightmare Hunts drop Cores and Prisms would also help since they're essentially mini Nightfalls.) Not to mention the loot from these areas would fill in some equipment gaps that were created, like there being almost no Energy Scout Rifles left or the only other Precision Shotgun in the game being a raid drop.
@@xander7765 you have to remember not everyone played D1 myself included so for those people all the stuff from there is completely new. does anyone know what the restrictions on transmog will be? I want to know if blues and common items will be available for use in the system, I wanna use that cloak-less Hunter hood.
I left Destiny when Beyond Light released. To make weapons / Armour players spent hours grinding for available at vendors & sunsetting the rest while removing more content than giving.... I value my time more than that.
About the armor sunsetting, maybe a random mod/perk system for armor would work, with customization provided to class items and in limited amounts for armor pieces
It's good that Bungie is "realizing" that loot is important in a loot shooter. But WHY didn't they think about that before Beyond Light? It's always "yeaah guys, we did some things wrong." But how can you not instantly know that almost no new loot isn't good in any way?
Really awesome to see you call Bungie out on the expansions Datto. I want those moon weapons to be up to cap again so bad, they were probably my favourite thing about Shadowkeep. The fact Shadowkeep's price involves a whole season that simply isn't there anymore is also really frustrating for new players. Please keep up the consumerism fight :)
My theory is that the returning raids are going to be reskins to apply to the current story: xivu arath is crota. The quira is vault of glass, etc, etc.
Sounds promising, bungie realizing that loot in a looter shooter is important. Better late than never. Not a fan of using d1 weapons as a selling point. But more stuff is never bad
Honestly just unsunset shadowkeep. It was the previous DLC we got right before Beyond Light. It was way to soon to sunset the gear from that. Also unsunset dungeons. Because it would give players who have already bought those DLC's a reason to return to them as well as making them viable endgames activities for new players. Even more so if they added new loot to them. That way we would at least have all of the shadowkeep gear to earn again as well as dungeons to play each week while waiting for a more permanent solution. As well as the event on the moon. Maybe even bring blind well back? I mean why not? Its better than paying for a DLC only to have to be removed later. Also they took away content that people paid for, or made it practically useless. Doesn't anyone else question that?
One pretty simple change that would massively help with the core playlists, would be the ability to focus farm gear, give us a menagerie chalice or the wrathborn lure equivalent and let us farm strikes for rolls we want or for weapons that are sunset that we just really like. Personally, i love the aesthetic of the seventh seraph weapons and would farm them regardless of being sunset. Give core playlist armor sets set bonuses that arent game changing but give a boost in their respective playlist. Just a couple ideas that I personally have wanted for a while as a diablo player who has loved destiny since d1 beta and wants so badly to genuinely enjoy the game again.
2:02 adept vir/gins you say? interesting speaking of the exotic kiosk when do we get catalysts for those weapons? theyre kinda useless without them. and dont put them in raids bungie. you wont add matchmaking or lfg to the game so dont do players like that anymore.
To focus strikes, I would love some randomness for skeleton keys brought back, with a "stay in the playlist for three strikes in a row to get a challenging strikes" that drops a skeleton chest at the end. Could include champions, could have chaining strikes, could have voting for strikes that doesn't allow repeats. However, Dungeons need an ornament set and old random loots like Prophecy did. All D1 House of Wolves weapons and the Taken Sets for Shattered, red painted Crota Sets with weapons for Pit, and prophecy where it is. Make the ornaments drop once per week or from a flawless run, requiring 5 for every piece on every character. Too steep? Make it one, but it makes repeated returns to the dungeons possible, at least once per week for 5 weeks, but also if you want to farm some weapons too.
5:41 wrath of rasputin takes care of that since sunshot, xeno, ace and other weapons that do solar splash damage will always be able to be used unless they sunset exotics which at that point I'll just quit because exotics should never be sunset since that's what's really making them feel exotic for me at this point in time.
Armor sunset is either to make players spend more time grinding for better gear or corner people into using whatever shitty seasonal armor they put out
people either couldn’t or wasn’t playing d2 during season of the worthy, its unfair that there is no other alternative to felwinters thats an aggressive frame and in the energy shot (astral horizon exists but trials isnt even out yet)
meh id say half and half. Theres a reason people call it season of the worthless. I dont think that it should be pretty much unrivaled compared to every other shotgun in game. Not fair to new light players who are just now joining since they have a more free model.
It’s not our fault that bungie hasn’t added a shotgun anywhere near on par with felwinters in 2 seasons. Its power cap is going to make it the most overpowered gun in the game for almost a year.
What if wearing 4 pieces of matching armor gave a bonus specific to that armor set? Such as giving each armor piece 1 bonus energy? Or 10% bonus stasis shatter damage? Or increased weapon reload time? Or an additional mod slot on each piece? Then players are given a reason to obtain specific armor sets each season when new bonuses are available, but old armor is also still useful depending on your build and playstyle.
So datto idk if you know this or not but I discovered something interesting about Hawkmoon. The paracausal shot damage buff is not specifically related to the number of paracausal charge stacks. It’s based off the percentage of stacks relative to the number of shots in the mag. So if you run urself out of ammo with it and the last mag you load is only 2 shots. Getting one stack of paracausal charge will give you the full damage as if you had 7 stacks from a full mag. (You’ll also get the hawk screech)

"It's not reasonable to replace that much stuff in an expansion" Come on man....you know expansions in the past TTK, RoI, Forsaken were twice as big or triple..when it came to weapons/armor
Yeah but Bungie had those Activision $$$ back then. Having a big publisher to back you up ain't that bad...
@@Zedempremier So this TWAB, they are literally lying?? cause how all of a sudden can they hire more people to create guns and such, but they couldn't do it for 2 years in a row? I'm confused...
@@mxwells216 Well, if it helps getting rid of your confusion : Bungie can make more content than they did for Beyond Light, but cannot do as much content than they did for TTK, ROI and Forsaken anymore. There are more options than those, you know.
Then again, I understand why you are not satisfied. We had a taste of greatness with TTK and Forsaken, but now the situation has changed. I advise you to temper your expectations, because if you expect content on the scope of TTK anytime soon... You'll only get disappointed and angry.
@@Zedempremier Bungie are poor but developing multiple games like "Matter" for instance, 300 million in digital revenue in 2019, Destiny is basically a side project at this point, we are funding content development on new games, people still acting like Bungie are a poor indie company is laughable....
@@oldboy2399 Then it's a good thing I've never called Bungie poor. I just pointed out that Bungie doesn't have the same support they had until the Activision split, and such it's unreasonable to expect the same level of content.
And mind you, I've also never said that this excuse Bungie in any capacity. I've never even said that I'm satisfied with the actual state of Destiny ( and as a matter of fact, I'm not. It doesn't matter for the sake of argument, but maybe you'll be more enclined to listen if I tell you this ? )
The shitty thing is : being angry for the wrong reasons is not constructive. Expecting a product from a company who doesn't have the means to produce it yet isn't a constructive use of your time. Nostalgia can blind people from the real issues. That's all I'm sayin'.
He definitely did not say they are specifically providing a path to get warmind cell generating weapons. He said they will have a path to participate for any power relevant weapons, and used that as an example. Warmind cell mods are going to be sunset in 2 seasons like everything else from worthy. That's why they made a legacy and a combat mod slot. Mods will rotate out of combat and into legacy after a year.
Im fine as long as Bungie doesnt go crazy with sunsetting like this season did.
Probably won't happen again now that the yearly system is in place
Yeah the only thing I worry about is for the next raid and their weapons being sunset and we only have dsc loot hopefully they do something about that
@@ObmanaCare we’re getting VoG sometime, so we’ll have that loot pool. honestly though, i think that Bungie wouldn’t cycle out any raids until the next expansion comes along with more.

creating warmind cells with weapons is such a weak mindset.
sunbracers laughs at you.
Sun shot: did someone say warmind cells?

I think another issue people haven't really noticed is that the first season of the year doesn't really have value. Since you get 3 more seasons of use in my mind there is no need to grind weapons like high albedo or friction fire since I have warmind counter parts and they won't serve me past anything this year.
These are some blue-quality-thumbnails you been making recently Datto. Keep up the great work
Cleanest in the game
As someone who can't really afford season passes it's pretty nice to be able to get some of the good weapon's in world drop now (ikelis first in last out etc) but I understand people wanting new stuff to go for but keeping season pass weapons eventually in world drop would be nice
So they took out loot just to add it back over time through seasons...lol

@@chrisgironda1746 yea I'm at the point where I'm done with destiny and done with bungies shit. They've basically ruined the game and paid content is unusable which is bs
This is what frustrates me the most about Datto, he will say one thing, then turn around and ask for the opposite:
Datto: I agree with sunsetting.
Joker is always right
I'd be alright with sunsetting if it functioned slightly differently.
I like that transmog is coming for armour but do u think we could see transmog for weapons
How, and why
1:39 didn't know if anyone knew this but you can actually shoot hobgoblins with their shield up if you have anti-barrier

Thanks Datto, I was struggling to form my own opinion, don’t know what I would do without you.
Exactly but no one wants to hear that. Since Bungie said they will be fixing everyone forgot about the problems the game has.

BTW Datto, anti-barrier rounds go through Hobgoblin's solar shield things, so you don't have to wait for them to finish.
Woah man, it's almost like sunsetting half the gear that players accrued over the years was a bad idea.
Damn, who would’ve thought
Not even a bad idea just executed very very poorly
Sunsetting has definitely limited our loadouts in high end content. There are actually no fast firing pulse rifles at all. Can't use my favorite weapon type in Iron Banner. There are no Arc Scout rifles. I would have liked one for the 1280 Perdition. We need a lot more weapons.
Ahh why not buy shadow keep even though it’s gear & weapons are completely irrelevant through sun setting, make them free.
"See you next t-" See you next WHAT? I have to know, the mystery is killing me!
"Another year and another 70 bucks and we'll fix stuff"
Well here we go again
Honestly bro fuck this game. I held off on buying beyond light and I'm glad I did. They break the whole ass game and then say okay give us a year and we'll fix it. Bungie is beyond stupid and for every step they take forward they take about 7 steps back. It's just the same cycle over and over again

Shadow Keep and Forsaken are also required for Nightfall Ordeals when those strikes are in rotation. To do last week's Nightfall my friend, who's been out for two years, had to purchase Forsaken to get his weekly reward.
Why didn’t we get any new crucible maps with Beyond Light? I would really love some new maps.
Yeah, I liked everything about beyond light except the lack or crucible content
Do you think rare gear will be usable for transmog?
“Frustration seeing people using guns you can’t earn anymore.”
That’s what’s even more frustrating.
Praying that the titan exotic is Twilight Garrison🙏

All I really want for Forsaken and Shadowkeep is for their gear to drop at relevant levels while the content is considered active, if Dreaming City and the Moon ever get thrown into the content vault then yeah go ahead a sunset the weapons that went with them.
Keeping these areas relevant would also lighten up on the feeling of sameness throughout the game as then activities like Blind Well and Nightmare Hunts would serve a purpose again. (Having Nightmare Hunts drop Cores and Prisms would also help since they're essentially mini Nightfalls.)
Not to mention the loot from these areas would fill in some equipment gaps that were created, like there being almost no Energy Scout Rifles left or the only other Precision Shotgun in the game being a raid drop.
Another way at looking at it. Game dev finally figures out that adding more loot to their looter game is a good thing.

I haven’t played destiny in years, but I still watch your videos Datto!! You’re a legend . 🙏🏼🌎

Moon loss sectors and pretty much the moon in general is pointless since almost everything in there is sunset
My theory is that the returning raids are going to be reskins to apply to the current story: xivu arath is crota. The quira is vault of glass, etc, etc.
That actually sounds pretty cool but I don’t think bungie would do that, and I also feel like those big threats would be better in their own new raids

It was nice to be referenced in a Datto vid
yes I noticed he was talking about us.

I don’t give a fuck if it is “unreasonable” to replace what they take from us. either replace what you remove OR DONT FUCKING REMOVE IT AT ALL.
Another year, another dev blog promising things.
“ I trust bungie”.

5:41 wrath of rasputin takes care of that since sunshot, xeno, ace and other weapons that do solar splash damage will always be able to be used unless they sunset exotics which at that point I'll just quit because exotics should never be sunset since that's what's really making them feel exotic for me at this point in time.
