Literally holding back from bawling on that scene with Shane, Joan and the rescue man. Shane's father acting like he cares and criticizing Joan on not properly taking care of a child. WOW. She rescued him from a hellhole, and she wasn't to blame for Shane crawling in a drain. Shane's father wasn't there to see how desperately worried Joan was and how she stuck by Shane's side the whole time the rescue team worked to get him out. Last episode he told her she could have Shane, now he's up there supposedly worried and making threats to Ferguson?? This is the only time I'm rooting for Ferguson on something. But it makes it hard to feel sorry for her when she treats the prisoners like trash.
The Freak is actually a very simple and logical character... She despises scum and treats criminals like scum. But she treats children and animals with care as their innocence dictates.

I always thought he was a total hypocrite for showing up at the hospital acting all concerned and criticising Joan whilst totally ignoring the fact that it was him that sold his son to Joan in the first place,

Maggie is an amazing actress,thing i like about Joan character is she is not a psychopath, she does have feelings. Joan is bitter tho, she became bitter after her girlfriend got killed by the prisoners in Queensland. Since then she doesnt care about anybody except for those close to her, her father, shane, her dog and some of the prisoners from queensland (Lori Wilkinson. shown later in the show). I think she feels nobody cares about her an ultimatly she dislikes herself inside, thats why in a way, shes given up with people,

She arrived at the right time when Myra had her daughter to attend to on the outside, meaning they were just together in prison for a short time, which is similar to her first stint at Wentworth when she took control when Bea was ill in hospital, but once Bea was back it was inevitable she would be shipped out. Glad she went out with a bang rather than a whimper anyway. Every credit to Maggie Millar for her terrific performances on each occasion she played Marie, the role was clearly a perfect fit for her. Ray seems like a good addition to the show, at least he has some personality about him, unlike O'Reagan.
