Oh Gosh, what an honor!!! 😍😍😍 Thank you so much for the nice words, Tomlin! You’re the best ❤️
The honour is all mine - absolutely love this session!!
Thank you for this. Amanda and Indiara Sfair are part of a more or less recent wave of Brazilian female harmonica musicians to join the "international elite". I agree with you, Amanda is incredibly skilled and soulful. I wonder what your take would be on Indiara Sfair, particularly on her feature song, improvisation in C minor. If one day you have the chance, it would be really cool to hear your breakdown of that song.
Tomlin-This series of observing and evaluating other musicians harp play is a great lesson in a lesson. I teaches us the subtle techniques that great players are using. Thanks for sharing these with us!
I’m new to the harmonica. I’m 70 years old and I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10.
This particular video of hers is one of my favorites and I listen to it very often. That’s the tone and style that I really love. I found your review of it very informative. Thank you for all you do.
I really enjoy the way that the guitar and harmonica compliment one another. Amanda is pure inspiration
So glad to hear this bluesy, absolute fantastic musical acoustic playing of Amanda Ventura. From now on I'm definitely her fan en looking forward to the moment I can play this way as easy as she does!
Thanks Tomlin, I love these videos for a number of reasons:
1. I love getting analysis from somebody who knows what they're talking about, and you really do.
2. I appreciate that you point out specific aspects of the player's technique, as well as how those aspects help to create the beauty and feeling of the piece; I learn so much for my own playing by watching and listening!
3. I get to know excellent contemporary harpists I might otherwise never have heard about.
Awww, thank you for the detailed breakdown! ;-)
Amanda plays beautifully but I admire Indiara Sfair. She's amazing. She is the reason why I started to play the harmonica. She touches the heart and soul and besides, she is so beautiful and down to earth. Have a look and listen to her. You, Tomlin, can teach and explain very well, too 😊
When I learnt this a couple of years ago I did it lip pursed because that was all I knew then but later I changed to tongue blocked and it went to a new level for me.
Other things I love in the dynamics in Amanda's playing are the number of times she scoops into lots of notes and the way she uses articulation to bring amazing sharpness to notes.
I've learnt it some time ago. Such a great piece ! Nice to play.
Love Amanda's and Indiara's playing.
Have learnt a couple of Indiara's pieces too 😁
Thanks for your videos Tomlin !
I've started my harmonica experience with your vids ! 😉👌
Just found your channel. Not a harp player, trying to write classical music now, but damn man. This channel is a gem.
Hello Tomlin, I enjoyed your analysis of Amanda's playing. Something that always catches my ear is when a harmonica player uses, I guess you would call it a "slow trill" as she does at the start of her performance and then once again shortly after the start.
Thanks,
Don.
Fantastic playing, fantastic video!
So many lessons in just one video. Nice!
Thanks for watching! Don’t forget to ‘Subscribe’ and turn on notifications to never miss another Harmonica video. 🙂
Great sound!!!!!
Great analysis Tomlin!
I'm really enjoying your Reaction videos
WOW - what a treat. Thanks Tomlin and you are right that this will go into my 'study' file. 😜
Amanda aparecendo por aqui. Faço questão de escreve em português dessa vez.
Ahhaha
Grande Amanda mostrando a força das Brazucas na Gaita
Fantastically played!! Thank you Tomlin for breaking everything down.
You're welcome!!
Thanks Tomlin, much appreciated 😊
Heart and soul
Really good thanks for the leg up
I’m learning from all your posts Tomlin - keep it up 👍
I really like these videos:-)
That makes two female Brazilian harmonica players that I'm in love with.
Very good. Girls fire harmonica.
Thanks Mr. Tomlin, it was nice to hear your opinion on Amanda's performance. I'm 71 years old and I've only been playing for 1.5 months and the first blues I chose and learned was Amanda's slow blues!). It's a pity that I don't follow your tutorial, but the reason is that I learn very slowly and can't keep up with the pace of your lessons, so I take a little bit from everyone. It would be nice to hear the blues in your performance. You are doing great too. And of course with tabs))
I like that approach, take bits and pieces from everyone then apply your own spin, that's how you make it your own! 🙂
Thanks for pointing out what makes this piece so great. Am I hearing a blend of 2nd and 3rd position blues scale?
Thanks for making this video. It was exactly what I was asking myself, how to play like that?
One question.Does playing without a mic make any difference on making the same sound as her playing?
Hi there, how about the very best of all of them, the great Indiara Sfair?, thank you
Do Indi. She's the OG beast.
I was wondering if there were any women who played the harp. Glad to know I’m not the only one!
How about Rachelle Plas or Annie Raines? Gender really does not matter for being a skilled harmonica player. So, no excuses ladies. :P
You MUST watch Indiara Sfair! And the other Amanda's as well.
