There was no way I was NOT going to integrate a fire pole back into this project! My home office is my only office, so I wanted this space to evoke creative inspiration, be efficient and have great natural light (my office at the loft had no windows!). The garage has a massive door on it and it was super important to get that right because I wanted to respect the history of this building. And the ability to leave for meetings by sliding down a fire pole checks every childhood dream.

I spent 21 years as a FDNY Fireman and have slid those old brass fire poles hundreds of times. My firehouse was an old house in Brooklyn and had threes floors plus a hose tower that extended above the roof. The ceilings were about 13 feet high and there was a pole from the hose tower at roof level down to the third floor....then another pole down to the second floor....then another pole down to the apparatus floor. Since the hose tower was on the Engine side of the house the Truck side only had poles from the third floor down. I used to skip rope on the roof of the firehouse with the hose tower door chocked open and if a run came in I slid all three poles was still the first one on the apparatus floor....and 45 years old at the time :)

I can see someone parking their car and Anthony's driveway and Anthony seeing it from his window sliding down a fire pole and running right out to give them a good talking to.....shoot I might need one of those poles in my house here in Jersey City lol

Where did you get the fire pole ? Would like one for my barn

I bought it from a company in Boston, but i had to get it with the 90 min fire rated self closing floor for code so it was SUPER expensive. if you're just looking to get a pole i would search around the internet....1-1/2" or 2" diameter.

the garage door opener is awesome. Absolutely love it. Quiet, powerful, battery back up and wifi for remote open...just let my GC in the other day while I was on my way home. two thumbs up for sure.

It was removed. That took all the old poles out for liability reasons 🙄
