Still one of my favorite bands of all time. I saw them play in Northampton, MA for the first time in '97 and I was obsessed. BEcame friendly with them after going to every show we could and geeking out. They came and played this old storefront that my friends grandparents owned that wasn't being rented at that moment (The Old Store in Palmer, MA.) It was a Christmas theme and Ping Pong came out with a suit of xmass tree lights on, plugged himself in and proceeded to put on a killer show. I'll never forget that time of my life! Bark the vote!!!
Rare, but certain records of a band that you hear for the first time catch your ear with a unique and new style the second it plays that puts a smile on your face. This record is one of those. Greatly missed.
Appetite of Kings was my fave album. And to be honest, I think they were my favorite punk band from Boston growing up... I miss the salad days, $5 shows... xoxox
@@hechrhymes4018 I used to hit so many shows at the Elvis room in Portsmouth, also saw bigger shows at the Middle East, and I went to the rat one time. And I love the paradise. And… what am I missing? Did you go to all those spots?
From late 1994 til early 2000. I saw Showcase play at least 40 times it seemed they played Boston or Worcester 3 or 4 times a month and were always great. Great memories of my mid 20's! Love this band!!!
@@JokersNtheOddball My opinion too, there was a sheer brilliance about them. The only other band I would put on that pedestal also would be the Freeze.
@@andrewsteele6287 I really loved the unseen second record, for suburban kids they managed to reap and incredible street punk sound. Sloppy too, like they were drunk. And the 7"s around that time, raise your finger, raise your fist, and protect and serve, and compilation stuff. Also not boston but the best of the best violent society and blanks 77
I love this era. This is when I dove head first into punk. Showcase Showdown, violent society and the boils from philly, the suspects from VA, blanks 77 from NJ were some of my favorite bands from back then. This album is so awesome. Brings back good memories.
Straight out of Allston/Brighton: brilliant fast pogo punk. The band that made me like punk rock again because no one really sounded like them: Johnny Rotten meets Jello Biafra meets The Queers meets The Freeze. So good. It is also great to see other people still alike them.
I was in a band called Punching Judy and we got to open for Spitzz - Arthur & Cloherty's band after SS split-up (unfortunately due to Ping Pong's condition) Can't remember the venue though...
I remember seeing them in New Milford, CT back in the day. What a great show! I had just started playing drums in my own band at the time and they were such an inspiration.
These guys were on Elevator Records. Ive been trying to find another band on the same label to no avail. 77 was out of Spain, toured around the same time.
Hi there- bass player is a pediatrician in Boston area and her husband (guitar) works as a social worker. Lead singer had to take a break from performing because of his health. Grateful to have seen them live for sure.
I REMEMBER BEING. SHITFACED on stage with buddah everyone. thought I was his daughter. 😂I made. such an ass out of myself. my ex kept signaling for me to get off the fucking stage. 😂😂😂😂 fuck it I was a kid. I drank alot of wiskey. i wouldnt take back anything.
truly one of the best punk records of the 90s
God Showcase is so timeless.

They were brilliant. Saw them in CHI @ Fireside and I think... Operation: Cliff Clavin. Really solid live.
These guys were one of the greats! So many nights at the Tune Inn!
I remember collecting the VML 7" live classics from there. Broken! So good.

Saw these guys at the Newtown Teen Center in like 96, 97. So much energy and so unique. They got me into punk rock.

@@Guppusmaximus First off, great name for a band. Second, listened to all that Spitzz stuff when it came out.
Did Punching Judy release anything?
Still rips in 2024!
Saw them so many times in the mid 90s. Reliable fun every time!
Such a great band. And a great album. Love these guys since I was a teenager.

If not for the Modern Lovers, this would be the greatest LP the city of Boston ever produced.

If Jello Biafra and John Lydon had a child, this is what he'd sound like.
We gotta give the dogs the vote! 🐶🗳️

Wow listened to these guys when I was a punk kid.
Once a punk always a punk...people selling out and growing up is not punk rock...punk isn’t a phase it’s a way of life!

these guys were great!
really dig this band has there own sound
Police...police...bring back the friendly police!!
You can watch a full set at the Elvis Room Portsmouth NH around 98 at the Elvis Room f b page
Heard "Police Police" on WUNH in 1996 and it changed my (musical) life forever.
