Wait wait wait! Is that a hollow heel? No full leather heel stack? Whatcha playin at, Weston? And you completely glossed over it. Not even a quick mention.
Awesome that you're aware of these German paratrooper boots, not the first time I'm impressed by your "boot" research! I actually own an old pair of these and had them recently resoled with the honey vibrams. Would be nice to compare your bear slayers to them and my builder pros. Always this temptation with your collabs, keep the good work up!
Everyone bitching about the price... the 8" OT is $550. Bison upgrade adds $75 to the base price of all their boots, so $625. Then add in that theyre not stamping the uppers, theyre cutting it out by hand. So, $25 more for the labor. The price is justified. And everyone complaining about the heel being hollow, its a one piece vibram like all the OTs. They all have a hollow squish point to give it more cushion. And hes commited to the rubber slip sole cuz he wants that OT flex up front. The heel stack works better with a leather slip sole for better nailing. The one piece outsole works better with the rubber slip sole
*You should see JK's video of the making of the process. Yes they do show some hand cutting out of the pieces. However, they also showed a lot of stamping out the pieces too 😅 Just saying. I agree with you about everything else though. Perhaps you haven't seen that video yet.*
I have been wanting a great hunting boot for the PNW. I hunt a lot of logging roads and bushwhack through thick forests and I would have loved to be able to afford these boots. Unfortunately I cannot spend the premium price tag while also needing to upgrade my rifle. Currently I am running a Solomon Quest 4 GTX boot and have really enjoyed them for the price. I trust your opinion and I would like to eventually own my own pair of handmade PNW boot. I want to suggest a boot series purely dedicated to hunting, I know there may be back lash from the youtube community but I think a lot of subscribers would love to see it. I want to see Crispi and other well known brands to be dissected and ranked. Love the channel, and love the passion.
Luckily i live near their shop and went in to get sized, i bought the 300x boots after seeing your video on them. With my career i dont need the fancier boots they sell, but their 300x boots fit like a dream and are extremely comfortable.
Product looks great but the only ridiculous part of the whole experience is that you cannot add any essential modifications such as rubber sole to correct for pronated or supinated feet. For $723.58 this should be allowed.
I’ll never buy a pair of pnw boots with the lineman shank in them again. The arch of the boot is further down my foot than on a pair of logger heel boots and it puts all the pressure in the middle of the outer edge of my foot. After three years my whites ramblers have not yet molded to that part of my foot.
Same I thought getting wedge soles would keep the same arch style, but nope they added a lineman shank when I sent my whites back and it hurts after almost a year
I have a situation here with Baker's Boots. I ordered white's boots from Baker's on last 25th Nov and they promised to deliver them in 3 months. After 3 months, because they said nothing, I've contacted them about the boots and they said it's pushed 2~3 months due to the blackfriday orders. After another 3 months, 26th May, I've mailed and said since it's passed 6 months passed, if it's not ready, I would have to cancel the order. The sales person said I have to pay 30% 'restocking fee' to cancel the order. 'Unfortunately, this is out of our control, the factory is still trying to get caught up from Black Friday. You would need to pay a 30% restocking fee if you want to cancel the order.' - this is what she said and never have said sorry for my time and patience. Do you think 30% restcking fee is justified? Is it an Amrican business way?

I wore IDF boots for the last 3 years during my service in the paratroopers, including in Gaza. I've worn every iteration of the infantry boots. The black boots are worse than the red ones, and the boots produced in Israel are worse than the ones produced in the US. Every soldier tried to get American made ones. Soldiers are supposed to swap boots every 6-8 months, the most common problem is the sole and toe separating completely. This happens more often on the Israeli-made boots. If the boot manages to last 10+ months the wear on the sole will become extremely noticeable, and threads all over the boot start to tear. These boots are designed with replacement in mind. There is no "wide" option, because of this, the shape of my toes has noticeably changed due to the compression from the sides. I never had a problem with blisters, but people who didn't take care of their feet or wear proper socks would often get blisters after long distances. The leather is very thin, if you kick something hard by mistake you'll feel it. The boots are best in the summer, they're pretty breathable because parts of the boots are mesh However, its not waterproof or insulated at all. The winters in Israel are very raining, muddy, and cold, so it's not comfortable in the winter. Mud sticks to the sole to an absurd degree as well. Other than the toe being too narrow for me, I never had any complaints, it's good enough for the army but I wouldn't recommend buying one for hiking or work unless you like seeing your boots fall apart after 6 months.
They look innovative and great! I think avoiding the full double leather sole might be perfect for average wearers. However, I was surprised by the HUGE cavity in the heel. Does anyone remember from older videos if that's typical of the honey vibram?

I might as well mention that I like the honey outsole but prefer the taller, but I guess 8" was tall enough for a more casual version that I got for hiking but might not really end up using for hiking much after all?
