Mitchell Pearce, isn't an NRL player just because of his father. He actually worked hard and made the most of the opportunity. Obviously had off-field problems, but the work ethic is always there. People make mistakes, he has been under pressure his whole life!! Thanks Mitch!!

Mitchell Pearce was one of the star studded players that got the Newcastle Knights out of the wooden spoon years. One of his highlights was that field goal against Manly in round 1 that won us our first Golden Point game in ten years as well as winning his first origin series in 2019. Kudos to his short time in the Red and Blue!

    Great interview James
Mitchell was definitely over scrutinised on and off the field.
A tremendous competitor and footballer. Great to see he has accepted his alcoholism I can see how relaxed he is now.
As an old Roosters supporter he is the best defensive half I've seen.

Gotta admire the personal growth. I am a bit like Mitch. There have been times when I was very loose on the piss and did some stupid things too. The only difference was that I am not a public figure. I have had 3 drinks in the past two years. I found the first year of a dry life the most challenging. I am at the stage now where I do not miss alcohol at all - in fact, whenever I think about having some I have a slight aversion to it. It is courageous what you are doing Mitch - keep doing what you are doing mate, and the rewards will continue.

Strong person. Was a tough player too. Probably the best defensive halfback I've seen.

Man. I felt like he was far to gracious talking about his roosters departure. He really has just decided to be mature and not say anything.

Great podcast, and a brilliant example Jimmy shared re: Wolfe of Wallstreet. The double standards with this game in this country is ridiculous. You put on Fox Sports or Channel 9 and the reminsicing and glorification of 'getting on the piss' stories is almost a weekly occurence, yet the knives are out for current players if they engage in that behaviour? Ridiculous.

    Great spine.
Most New South Welshmen have tried to forget how good Lockyer was.
GI over Slater though on the basis that GI could play any position on the field.

Seems that way re Lockyer. Won so many games for Australia and Queensland let alone the broncos. Ultimate clutch man.

We’ve all done crazy stuff, unfortunately players actions get broadcasted for everyone to see and then people feel they have the right to voice opinions about someone else’s actions when it has nothing to do with them.

As much as I’ve always rated Peircey as a 7 one of the best of his generation. I think he would’ve been an outstanding No9 but understand why he wouldn’t wanna be shifted to the middle
