This is another video talking about another underrated American supercar manufacturer!
You had me at Saleen s7. I always remember the description for it in project Gotham racing. The other car Ferraris, Porsche, and BMW had long descriptions. "This car had a 400 hp v10 and won at Lemans...etc" you know long ones, all the s7 had for a description was "Often outnumbered, never outgunned!" Best description ever.
Project Gotham racing one of the best game out there open world was the garage you walk around your garage I don't know many racing games can let you do that. Forza got garages but only one car is present.
@@WilliamHollinger2019 100% agree. He'll even the geometry wars could find and play. That alone became so popular it had its own xbox 360 arcade release. It's been 5 years since the last format motor sport. I kinda been hoping they add something like that for autovista mode. Walk around and see all the guys you got.
The Saleen road car is awful.
The Saleen race car is great.
That's just a fact.
If Saleen wants to become popular again they have to sell the race version as a track only hypercar similar to Huayra R.
The Salon S7 had the looks and go to back it up. A truly under-appreciated supercar.
The seating position, pedal box, and steering wheel was completely out of whack. It wasn’t a very good car.
What you failed to mention is that Steve Saleen partnered with Chinese business guys that promised him to build a factory in China and they closed the town were the factory was being built and Steve couldn’t access it. I don’t remember why, but long story short, Steve lost his intelectual property and the Saleen name, therefore, he can’t use his last name anymore for his cars.
They were even going to arrest him if he went back to China. That was the last I ever read on it. Now I need to try and find out what all happened. Sad story.
Doing business with China is literally like doing business with Satan so I honestly don’t know what he was thinking
i really wonder why he left that part out. The factory was completed from what i saw in the research i did a couple of years ago,saleen made a huge mis step going the chinese communist route,the ccp itself took the company from the chinese stock holders and claimed fraud

Seems like Steve Saleen was an amazing designer and really made one of the fastest and most beautiful exotics ever made, but many of his business decisions just leave your head scratching. If only the business side of things would have panned out and we would be looking at the American alternative to amazing boutique manufacturers like Pagani and Koenigsegg.
The S7 was my dream car in Highschool......well still is and is 2nd on my list under the famous McLaren F1s.
The Saleen S7 and the Mclaren F1 are my absolute favorite hypercars (and have been since I was in grade school). Still have my framed poster of the Saleen S7 on my wall to this day.
Iv always said the S7 was the second coming of the F1.
I have a staunch preference for the Mosler MT900 and its variants, mainly the MT900s and the "Photon".
U forget ultimate aero is same school with saleen s7 old boys in time.
I would 100% buy this car if I had the money. An American super car! With a ford engine in it. Craziness!
I remember when Saleen was on the race circuit, it was and still is a kick azz car.
It was in the gt series, and a design firm in the UK ( Millar engineering) created the chassis.
I've always wanted a Saleen so, Bruce Almighty had driven one in sliver.
It was the perfect product placement for that movie, I doubt you will find one for sale nowadays.
The xj220, and eb110 are my favorites too.
Nice video! There was another variant of the S7, the competition package. Through Saleen, you could retrofit the comp package onto your TT S7, or the Twin turbos onto your base, NA car. Saleen was doing in house upgrades on existing chassis before other, more well known brands like Koenigsegg, and more notably, Pagani
Dan C you are forgetting the Saleen S7TT LM. This car at first could be had with max bhp up to 1,300bhp. The last version of that same car could be had with 1,500bhp. Saleen estimated 0-62 in 2.2 seconds and a top end of 298mph. Look up "Saleen S7 TT LM top speed".

Great series! BTW i think the answer to your question is "Top Gear" specifically how Jeremy review american car. Thats the main reason why american build supercar did not really took off. koenigsegg had great reviews from Jeremy and look at them now, its cool because Jeremy said so 😁
The 7 has always been my favorite. And I know what a twin turbo can do . I have a LPE twin turbo Vett with 850hp that’s nasty!
Chrysler had their own v12 supercar called the ME Four-Twelve and Cadillac had the Cien, it's too bad that those two didn't make it past being just concept cars.

I worked for Saleen in Michigan during the Ford Gt days and helped build the S5S raptor after Steve had already sold his name in 07' to an aftermarket parts shop due to the recession. The only prototype was an empty shell that went to new York auto show. Not too long after we did the transformers movie cars in 06'. The S7s were always my favorite to work on
You forgot to mention how shareholders kicked Steve Saleen out of his own company, hence the S5 never materialized. Steve went on to start a rival company, SMS, but after winning the court case to take the helm of Saleen again, SMS was dissolved!
You also didn’t mention that Steve made a similar mistake again, and almost lost his company again - this time to the Chinese. The S1 was to come out of this ⬆️ partnership, but that didn’t happen!
Now, if you’re on the Saleen mailing list, you’ll get emails every few months, offering you to buy shares in the company; don’t do it, save your money and your sanity!

This car still to date is the most underrated car frm the early 2000s overshadowed by the Murciélago Carerra GT n the Enzo. It was only featured on the cover of some car magazines car and driver road n track and motor trend along wit automobile and DuPont Registry (I still have those magazines) yet they failed to mention its winning pedigree minus Motor Trend. This car along wit the F1 are the top 5 greatest cars ever made
Adding the background music from Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 5 was a nice addition to this video.
The Windsor came out in 1963 however Ford had originally designed it to be about a 225 cubic inch. What they released was the 260 c.i. in the Fairlane and falcons but there were a limited number of falcons that got the 260. Carrol Shelby test mule was first the 260 but he said it wasn't large enough to produce the power he desired.
The 351W didn't come out until 1969.

I Went to a car show to San Jose CA in the mid-late 90's, They had a silver metallic S7 there. I remember them having a line for anyone to go in the car and take a picture, yes, those were the days when you had to go longs drugs to develop your pictures. At the time I don't think the S7 was out yet. I had my pal take a picture me behind the wheel, I still have that picture...

When I saw this car on the need for speed movie I knew it was something for recognition. I mean it battled with Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Spano GTA, McLaren P1, and Koenigsegg Agera R. 🙌🏿🙌🏿

Dennis Collins from the Cars & Coffee channel,...recently bought a very significantly famous Pantera, that is extremely fast,(even by today's standards)and has a similarly decorated track and racing history. Would be a cool video.

The 351 is not the same as the 302 or 5.0 in any way other than bore spacing and cylinder head bold pattern. The heads interchange between the 351 and the 302 but, not much else. The 351 not 350 also debuted in 1969(gigidy). The 302 came out in 68 but the block family originally debuted in 61/62 as a 221 than grew to a 260 and 289 before eventually becoming the 4"bore 3" stroke 302 or 5.0.

That S1 is what the new Mustang GT should look like. If Ford had done this design (but cheaper of course) and offered the same turbo ecoboost but also a V6 and V8 Coyote versions, especially as Dodge and Chevy are planning to discontinue their pony cars, I think they would have doubled the success they're about to have with this new slightly altered S650. As an S550 owner I say to Ford, please make the next redesign look something like this S1.

When saleen s7 hit speed and ultimate aero hit record many many sleep in time this old boys have good name but nobody support or given boost to grow u right for price can be 500k or 700k to start later when put more unique style or technology u can up price this fault of saleen s7 I remember they time hit crazy speed and handle road.
My first introduction to the TT s7 was in Test Drive Unlimited 2, smokes every car on the grid...
The S5S Raptor came along at the time the US housing market collapsed and took with it a lot of other industries, including the automotive industry. This is what is blamed for the cancellation of the S5S Raptor. Frankly, I thought the car would have only been delayed a couple of years as the economy recovered.
Saleen is a genius, I wouldn’t question his direction. Appreciate what he built! I built conveyors for coal, before obama put coal miners out of work! Yea that’s impressive, NOT!!!! But the cars will live on for generations!

With the tests and reviews that Saleen said his cars would never be on Top Gear and the like, i think its because you just know they would do a hit piece on it so its risky and not a lot of upside.
A lot of the silly things clarkson has said still gets passed around as gospel for years afterwards, i remember when they were saying the veyron was stupid and a waste of time and never would be made as it had a long production history and then it was suddenly the greatest thing ever, which is was a the time.
Same with pretending the Tesla car ran out of battery and then they all got in trouble for it.
Not many S7's about, but from what i have read they certainly are fast and the racing ones speak for themselves on how good they were, i would love one always loved the look of that thing and with all that downforce should be really fast on the track but i think the owners just baby them and never really use them, would love to see some modern VBOX tests being done but i doubt they ever will, same with the Vector W8 at full boost should make 1200bhp and possibly be the fastest car of the 80s/90s but as there are like 17 of them and the owners never do anything but drive them to cars and coffee events at most your never going to see what they can really do.
When i become rich enough to get a W8 and a S7 i am going to do a bunch of speed runs to see what it will really do :)

The first rime I saw an S7 was In Midnight Club 2 as the final boss's car. When I scoured the then teenage internet I couldn't believe it was American especially with those stats. It's rarer than a Bugatti and infinitely faster on track. I would've loved to see its Nurbergring time, European what?

I helped design the muffler in the original 7 liter version. The twin-turbo models used basic mufflers. Also, the motor was nascar-based, very little to do with any of the road motors. Its a bad mofo for sure.
If I were Ford manufacturing I would definitely team up with him to make a mid-engine Mustang to compete with the new mid-engine c8 Corvette

The engine the car uses is a Ford 351ci stroked up to 427ci. This guy says the engine is a 350ci which is a Chevy motor and that is incorrect..

Saleen would be perfect if cabin is organized like McLAaren F1 with driver sitting in the middle.....pedals are too offset to drivers legs thanks to huge wide front fenders which are too close to cabin.....
