I listened to it for the first time the year it came out and couldn't understand why everyone didn't like it. It was by far the best thing they'd done since self-titled in 1991, and there are some incredible tracks throughout (this one being by far my favourite). I'm not sure what they were on when they composed and recorded it, but it's got so much energy that to this day I still get amped up listening to it.
6:22 wtf literally one of the most powerfull riffs ever written!!! (and your tone makes it even more powerfull xD!) Why almost nobody talks about it? Sounds like ripping someone’s face off
Excellent video, I've been in love with this song since Death Magnetic dropped. Time to learn it! Also, I'd love to see a tab video on Am I Savage? That breakdown at the end is so heavy.
absolutely phenominal picking hand action. i was just looing to see a different perspective on one part of this, i wasnt expecting to be impressed, but i am.
I have been playin guitar for some time but I have never invested much time on it. I am challenging myself with this song. Thank you for sharing this video and tabs.
Those power chords used after the long D chugging should be on the A and D string. Not saying it’s wrong how you play it, just how James plays it but sick cover bro
Awesome video, thank you! Do you know which parts James downpicks and which are alternate? I'm not sure if I should just go with alternate picking or try to gain downpicking speed for certain parts.
I guess my rule of thumb for the down-picking v/s alternate picking stuff is simple. If you want to get better at down-picking, then do It wherever humanly possible, and just build up speed over time until you can do Puppets without much issue (that's how I got better at down-picking at least). If you want to know about this song specifically, then basically just copy what I'm doing in the video, bu If you need to be 100% certain, then I'd watch live performances of the song and try to see how James and Kirk are playing It. Hope that helps!
@@mr.madnus.fernus Yes, I see, I'm actually trying to work my downpicking with Master ofPuppets as well, it's a really great song for practice! I also think that as long as it seems like it can be done I should just train downpicks. And yes that does help, thank you for the reply!
@@mr.madnus.fernus i found their store online, definetely what i want in a guitar, on the christmas list it goes! Thanks man. Keep doin what you do best

I still don’t understand how everyone craps on death magnetic this album was so underrated
it's not haha
I agree, all nightmare long, and the day that never comes are some of my favorite metallica songs

Hardwired is another underrated album
While being in top-5 of all Metallica albums, it's sounds even worse than St. Anger.
For those who have difficulties with the picking:
If you tape your pick to a screwdriver, you can almost get to the timing of Hetfields downstrokes
5:24 i love this part of this riff
6:18 I love how your left hand is just chillin on your lap while ur right hand is going ham on the open d string 😆 😂
You could say he’s going ham on the d
0:45 that chugging was dope
6:22 wtf literally one of the most powerfull riffs ever written!!! (and your tone makes it even more powerfull xD!) Why almost nobody talks about it? Sounds like ripping someone’s face off
Because it's Metallica that was made after the early 90s lol. People sleep on Metallicas modern stuff especially death magnetic
@@midnight347if that riff was on Master Of Puppets, then it would be 10x more popular, I agree with you
It sounds more like a Slayer riff than a Metallica one. That's one SLAMMING riff.
One of the most underatted songs and abums of all time..Massive life long Metallica fan and Death Magnetic is up there big time!!!
The begining doesn't seem too difficult. Update. I learned the intro!!!!
Nice! Good luck with the rest of the song!
For me its just the patience of tuning it to drop d lol
Keep going mate, youll do it
@@themusicguy1056 what? just sustain open E and A and tune down until its a power chord
@@yessir6427 yeah i got it after awhile, thanks for reminding me that i need to learn this lol
That little part at 1:47 is stuck in my head, thanks for the video... I'm going to play it until it goes away.
same
That little riff was the basis for the song. Rob played that on an acoustic and James loved it. Then wrote the whole around iy
Your timing and precision is remarkable
Jackpot of Riffs🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
That main riff still so heavy, insane!!

update? how's it going so far?
@@whiterunguard1974 I can pretty much do it now. I have gained enough speed for alternate pickings

I've started playing the electric guitar 3 months ago and at the 2nd motnh i just left , now im learning this. excellent video
Hi I’m 9 and I finished the song even the solo
Thank you for Great Playing

Probably my favorite mixture off thrash and speed picking from em on this one, just like that was just your life album had some gold riffs on it
Im gonna begin learning this right away
This is rad, definitely gonna try to play this!
that right hand wtf xD instant cramp
Wonderful. My eyes are more than pleased.
muito obrigado! play incrível! tks a lot, nice play, nice tone!
Absolute Madlad
great job mate! i love this!
Great video all the way around! Thanks!
my favorite part is from 00:02 - 07:49
Wow! I tried to learn this by ultimate guitar tab, which was 10 years ago (and never looked again), that was really horrible lol. This is better
how come the riffs are way cooler than the solo
Super solid❤
We need the soloo!!!🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thanks!

I find the dark tab a bit hard to play along, but hey. Nobody seens to complain, so ig it's just me and a few

More Doggo😊
And it sounds good on bass too hahahaha
I tried to do the very begging, but I am terrible at everything and I couldn't do it
Que significa un número así en la tab (5) gracias 🫂?
What type of guitar is this?
Is it down strokes or up and down through out the entire 40 secs
Hey, what does the ( ) mean? I am learning this till my 15th birthday aka till summer. Thank you very much
It means that the note is a Ghost Note (which means that you can play or not play that note, depending on your liking).
If you don't know what a sign means in the tabs, in the description you can see what all the signs that I use means!
❤🎉🎉
What do the ( ) mean sorry mew to online tabs
A note between brackets is a ghost note, which means that you can either play or not play that note, depending on your liking!

thanks for the help! your les paul looks mean as fuck, is it custom built? cheers
Np and nope!
It's a Diamond Bolero Elite Black. Check out my review of it if you're interested in it!
2:13
some parts are wrong
\m/
Nvm it’s both ☠️☠️☠️😭
Bro did us dirty and skipped the last chorus good playing though !
Is this standard drop D or drop C#?
Drop d
How do you get that tone
Okay, this shit looks confusing as hell. Probably the best Metallica song
what do the numbers in brackets mean
It means that that specific note is optional to play, so It's your choice!
Can you play something more from "the last of us "
I plan on doing the main theme from TLOU and then probably move on to the OST of Part 2.
Anything specific from the first game that you'd like to see?
came for solo tabs...left disappointed a bit. but nice video.
