Sir Paul McCartney’s "Kisses on the Bottom" live album was released in the UK on 6 February 2012. A streaming free live performance was hosted by iTunes on 9 February 2012 as "Kisses on the Bottom:Live from Capitol Studios". Then the whole and edited concert was released in DVD and Blu Ray as "Live Kisses".
This work is basically the join, on split screen, of both videos.
Despite some little quality difference between both videos I think it is interesting watching what is the pianist doing while Paul is singing, what is Paul doing while the guitar solo, etc....
I hope you enjoy this "Split Kisses" as much as I did editing it =)

PAUL MCCARTNEY - The Glory of Love
The recent loss of beloved actor Sidney Poitier (January 6 age 94 in Beverly Hills) brought back memories of the Oscar-winning theme song from one of his best movies, The Glory of Love - playing right now on Siriusly Sinatra satellite radio. My favorite version by Paul McCartney.
Hard to believe it has been exactly ten years (February 2012) since the release of his “Kisses on the Bottom” album of standards (and should-have-been-standards loved by Paul's father) that was recorded at Capitol Towers in Hollywood with a star-studded supporting cast of musicians - with three featured guitarists including John Pizzarelli. I never heard a better (easy on the ears and heart) rendition than Sir Paul's of this great old song.
Love that the in-studio video included a shot of the original 78 rpm “Victor” recording by “Benny Goodman and his His Orchestra.”

PAUL MCCARTNEY - The Glory of Love
We were discussing 'great love songs' - my musical father and me, a few years before his death; I remember asking his opinion about 'As Time Goes By' - from a 1943 film that Dad always said, “captured, better than any other movie” the mood of that period; people desperate to escape 'occupied' Europe and North Africa - “the collective anxiety."
ME: Is it perhaps the greatest love song? I asked (thinking only that it was my favorite).
DAD: Maybe the greatest song ever written ABOUT love.”
I'm thinking of the “other greatest song ABOUT love” - THE GLORY OF LOVE - playing right this minute on Siriusly Sinatra satellite radio Paul McCartney and some stellar jazz musicians.
Coincidentally I'd just been re-reading my favorite part of Paul's liner notes for that 'Kisses On The Bottom' album of standards and should- have- been- standards that Paul's father Jim enjoyed. Recalling the origins of the project, Paul wrote:
“Eventually I just said, 'I really ought to do this, or I'll go off the idea and kick myself.' So I talked to a lady in our New York Office called Nancy Jeffries who knows all about the publishing side of the business and I said, 'If I was going to do it, who might I work with? Who might produce?' And she said, you should meet (producer) Tommy LiPuma.
So I met with Tommy who suggested Diana Krall.
QUESTION: Were songs like these among the first you ever learned to play?
PAUL: No I never learned how to play them. All I ever did was sing them at family sing-songs. There is this one song, HOME that I remember from my Dad's era. It's funny, when I suggested that one, Diana said, “Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only person on earth who knew that song!” And before The Beatles I actually used to do an instrumental version of it. I used to play a little guitar instrumental when me and John were just getting it together. So I had nice memories of that one.”
[Poised to leave a comment on this Grammy-winning video, I find my namesake has already reviewed it - twice! ]

PAUL MCCARTNEY - The Glory of Love
At about a quarter to 4 a.m. Siriusly Sinatra satellite radio is playing Paul McCartney's version of THE GLORY OF LOVE - a song my 'boomer' generation associated with the movie 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?' I needed a reminder from Wiki about who wrote the song, and that it was a No 1 hit for Benny Goodman in long ago 1936. Composed (words & music) by
Billy Hill (July 14, 1899 - December 24, 1940) was an American songwriter, violinist, and pianist who found fame writing Western songs such as "They Cut Down the Old Pine Tree", "The Last Round-Up", "Wagon Wheels", and "Empty Saddles". Hill's most popular song was "The Glory of Love", recorded by Benny Goodman in 1936, and subsequently by Peggy Lee, Otis Redding, Paul McCartney, and others . . .
Peggy Lee brought the song back into prominence including it on her “Jump For Joy” album of 1958, arranged by Nelson Riddle. A decade later Otis Redding recorded a cover version for his 1968 album, The Dock of the Bay. It became a top 20 hit.
Bette Midler, 20 years later included The Glory of Love on the soundtrack for the movie BEACHES.
Paul McCartney's version is my favorite from his album of standards and should-have-been-standards beloved by Paul's musical father. [Wikipedia states]
Kisses on the Bottom is the fifteenth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, consisting primarily of covers of traditional pop music and jazz. Released in February 2012 on Starbucks' Hear Music label, it was McCartney's first studio album since Memory Almost Full in 2007.
The album was produced by Tommy LiPuma and includes just two original compositions by McCartney: "My Valentine" and "Only Our Hearts". The former features Eric Clapton on guitar, while the latter features Stevie Wonder on harmonica. Kisses on the Bottom peaked at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and number 5 on the US Billboard 200, while also topping Billboard magazine's Jazz Albums chart.
