You should do an update video, on how these trees look in water, and how they grow
Try making a tree with weeping moss and you can make a weeping willow tree!
Can it survive high lighting? Or need shady area?
I ve thought of the same
Probably gonna look more like a bald cypress than a willow
Thank you! I've been trying to see how I can make my bird bath unique. I made a bird bath, but I wanted to decorate it. I bought dried flowers and I'm going to try and put preserved moss on the tree. I'm hoping this comes out the way I want it to. I'm making it like a mini forest for my bird visitors.
I know this is from a while back but I love your idea. Using terrestrial moss I assume? How’d it work out? My neighbor was recently widowed. She loves birds. Would love to create something like this for her.
Nice! Thanks for the shout out dude. I also enjoy Aquaman's work.
🤠
what is the wood? is it live wood or dried? well thank you
Im new to this realm of you tube. But I enjoy both channels. Tanner has me making terrariums and AP among others has me prepping for my own aquascape
@@lukass6c7 it is not live wood. But actually some machined dry wood that when put into an aquarium, usually floats at first unless like ‘boiled’ in water to saturate it but I usually just use a decent sized rock underneath it or drill a small hole in the bottom for said rock. Then it sinks, stays and saturated over time.
@serpadesign could you help me find the video he’s referencing? I would love to see how to make one of these myself!! I love that you and AQUAPROS give such easy to understand demos 💚
Lookin goooood! I personally make all of my driftwood by myself. I use hardwoods like azalea, maple, crepe myrtle, oak, and manzanita. I bake them in the oven at 200 for a few hours. Then I throw them in my tanks, and they naturally get debarked by the water, and faster with plecos. The manzanita may need sand blasting.
I have a crepe myrtle wood structure in my aquarium and uts honestly the best wood I've used so far.
Yo how do you make driftwood
I was thinking about that. Do you use dead wood or fresh? I worry about sap contamination in the water with fresh stuff
@@ML-ks2lj If I remember right, you boil the wood before using it to get rid of saps, molds and tannins that stain and contaminate your tank, so that should help!
I recently purchased a bonsai tree and used christmas moss to create the affect of the tree and it's really cool 😃
I never thought of adding the monte carlo, that looks the best
because it scales down
This is exactly what I needed! I got a mini bonsai from Flip Aquatics but hadn’t figured out what to do with it yet. Thanks!
I used moss balls, just way quicker and gives you the best results the fastest
I've been watching those bonsai trees on flipaquatics site for some months now but when I wanted to pull the trigger they sold out. This video is exactly what I had in mind and you sir helped me decide on what i could use. I just need to remember not to plant anything around the tree as it would block majority of the light under the treeas it fills out. Great post again.
I’ve been thinking of doing something like this for awhile now. I was thinking of the Christmas moss with the tree on a “hill” surrounded with a dwarf sag carpet.
im new to planted tanks and because of your bonsai tank im doing my own. thanks for the videos.
I liked the moss ball, but with some branches showing through. Nice Vid.
Got to be the monte carlo. Thumbs up who agrees?
💯
See....even Mike agrees 😜😜
I just published my latest video mike if you want to take a look. Focus' on my planted discus tank.
Thanks for the breakdown
Waited for a long time for a great bonsai tree tutorial. Thanks!
I really like fissiden moss . Looks Soo much more like a natural canopy
Every time I tried it this way IT A FLOATED AWAY! Really does help to take the time to secure it. I'm gonna play around with dry starting one if I can keep it damp enough. Thinking about using my Mist king.
Gorilla glue
You should make a bonsai forest
Bonsai trees seems a cool thing 👍
@AquaPros, Personally... I would use cotton or similar filter medium to decorate the tree with. Then plant the montecarlo on that. To give it some rooting medium to protect it from fish and similar. But also provide a strong area for bacterial growth due its porous nature. Since the water flow will not be mainly flowing through it, it will not clog up until the roots built a carpet. But trimming the roots will be simpler since you have less risk of harming them with a layer of cotton preventing you from cutting too much.
Awsome, looks like an oldschool aquapros vid :D
Great Video! Thank you for sharing!!
Yeah Serpa Design! Tanner’s great
been looking to do this as of lately and your video put me in the right direction thanks man! 🤙
thank you SIR!!! best tutorial help I've seen
I actually have a dead bonsai tree that I'm about to start prepping to go into my 55 gallon tank for my first ever aquascape and first time ever using plants
Is it going good ?
See through tree is the best!
i was thinking of serpadesign too
hi
how did you grow the java moss in a jar?
I like the way you speak and explain. Im not native english speaker, but i can understand completely
Gonna subs
hey you should try putting riccia it works really well
Great vid! Thank you, how do we stop the moss from floating away can I glue the moss on?? If so what glue is suitable to use in a tank?! Thank you. Have a great weekend :)
Do we need to boil these bonsai trees?
No
Can’t wait to try this
Oh my... Thank you so much.. I just finished my own Bonsai tree and was wondering what to cover it with for the tree canapee... I ordered bucephalandra but won't be enough, and also monte carlo but won't be enough I suppose... I can cut thin layers of filter spons and dip them into substrate and then add monte carlo or bucephalandra on them...
Brilliant.
👍💓👍
This video was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much
amazing
Thanks for the video ! I want to do a tree and you give me good info. Great job !
I have a small bonsai that I used monte Carlo on. After a while all my monte carlo died tho. I think lack of nutrients was the cause.
Thanks, I was gonna do the monte carlo one but after hearing your experience, I might go for moss instead. Was your tank a low or high tech tank?
I made a temple of Athena and added monte carlo on them, also dead after 3wks
That looks really neat! thanks for sharing!
the shop where I got my little bonsai tree also has a Christmas tree-shaped one which was really cool. I would've gotten it but I already planned on making a bonsai tree with one of the small nana varieties
Plant noob here, sorry if this is obvious... but I thought Monte Carlo needs soil nutrients? How does one keep it alive in a treetop? Is fertilizer sufficient?
After I came across this video, I got myself bonsai tree drift wood and I am excited:-) You mentions that all I need to do is just stick the moss in the spot and good to go and no glue needed but I am curious, if I needed to put near current (out take area) so bamboo shrimp can use as step and also good for aqua scaping, then, moss would still be on the driftwood and would not float away? I got gorilla glue gel I got from aquarium coop but I also heard it becomes white when wet and I also have green thread but I am worry to break the twig if I tie it to the branch spot.Thank you.
Thanks man !
Great idea!
Lol nice
Still planning on monte Carlo for my bonsai , if I do end up useing moss tho will more than likely be weeping moss
Well it wasn't "Like 25mins long" so that's a plus xD
Love your videos man!
Thanks 🤠
Beautiful
Nice
Mini pellia makes a great bonsai
thank you! interesting, easy to understand (for me) , great! from france :)
haha awesome! "these will grow in the toilet." im doing that
Radical Reefs T-shirt? Is this maybe a hint to something? Maybe a new aquarium with a certain 1,025 value?
We'll see
Great video! I hope you do another feature of diy bonsai design.
“That doesn’t smell like flame moss” 😂
if you break up the moss ball will it keep growing.. I have wood in my tank and I have taken a chance and glued broken up moss balls in small amounts to the wood, hopeing it will fill out over the wood. Will this work
Peter Rowe moss balls are extremely slow growing, but after years it’ll probably fill out.
Are you able to use a plastic bonsai tree and attach the live plants to that decoration to create subpar effect?
Can Monte Carlo lives with co2 cylinders? Only with seachem flourish excel and tropics specialised nutrition?
For small tank less than 5 liters
Very nice💕👍
What is decent lighting to you I have a Nicrew
I just got one of those trees, super nice even without moss. Where I can I buy moss...
Where can we find Christmas moss? In your experience.
Great video, always enjoy your videos.
MUUAAARRIIIMOOOO
Hello! Can you please tell me what tree the branches of the bonsai you are showing are made of? Thank you.
very nice video I have one question do monte carlo work without soil also and can I use in my terrarium
Love your videos!!
I was just trying to find something like this a few weeks ago! I have a plastic tree that I wanted to spruce up with a live plant but wasn't sure how best to go about it. I have a bunch of loose Java moss. The plastic tree keeps floating though.
Hm, might need to check out these trees. Seems like they'd be expensive though.
Maybe glue a rock to the bottom of the tree
Hmmmm I recognize that jar! Lol
😜👍
Glad ur affiliated with flip aquatics I live 10 minutes from them
The easiest plant to use is anubias nana and cuba works really well.
crazy shrimp lady not to make a bonsai tree
@@Rb-ip5lt Of course to make a bonsai canopy. Cuba is fantastic. Give it a try.
what is the awesome moss/plant but lowtech to fit/plant on bonsai tree? any suggestion will be appreciated
Banzaiiiiiii!!!!!!
WAs the Massimo ball dry? Or wet
It was wet.
Bro monte carlo can live without soil?
Same question
Does anyone know where I could get the bonsai driftwood in nz Christchurch? It would help a lot thanks
REAPERTHEBEAR theres going to be a memorial tomorrow for it.
I have Aquael retrofit sunny 10w and Aquael retrofit plant 10w in my 60liter(~~16galon) aquarium so 28,33(3)lumen/liter (~~106,25lumen/galon?)
I have co2 too
my problem is I don't use fertilizers (it's expensive, complicated and hard for me)
I heard that I have to cut the java moss so often, I dont really want to...
so my question is whith plant should I choose?
will the marimo moss ball be great?
PS. I dont care algaes because I'll have red cherry schrimp.
Hi. I tried the trees with Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo has grown in length and they are all reaching for the light. Not going down. Not dosing co2 but using a strong light.
In my experience, CO2 is required for the desired effect ;/
which would you say the easiest moss to grow ? never had moss before I have chirihos A series light with no co2 ?
You said that the moss balls could survive in a toilet, a toilet is a good place for plants unless it gets flushed down
Are there other plants (which can survive strong lights) I can attach to the bonsai tree aside from the monte carlo?
I went out to a creek and dug up my own. 13" tall, 15" at it's widest, but 11" where it matters. 😂
I like the moss ball idea. I did java moss, and apparently am giving it too much light (basic RGB LEDs) because they're turning brown and seem to have a translucent orb around them (maybe algae).
Any tips on keeping the bonsai tree from floating? I have a 6" one in a 10 gallon tank, and it doesn't float, but the 12" one in my 30 gallon tank keeps floating to the top...
How do u clean the moss balls once their on the bonsai tree?
Are there cheaper options with the same type of quality?

Can you super glue the monte carlo or is that bad for it's roots?
just wondering what is the map in the background
Biological pathways of a cell 🤠👍
ok thanks@@AQUAPROS
Can the broken moss balls contribute to an algae overgrowth in the rest of the tank?
Do these bonsai driftwoods or driftwoods in general require to be rinsed / submerged into water for 2 weeks before using them ?
Since the merimo is algae does it end up taking the tank over with to much light?
Whats the best ant to use on these trees? I have painted turtles
They’re sold out on trees anyone know where I can buy
Etsy
Will these grow with the moss ball version?
We got some of these balls and now getting a lot of algae growing from them. Is that normal?
well I guess that was a dumb question... :-) So, do we just trim the growing strings off to keep them round or flat?
Let me buy those moss balls. Can't find them anywhere
Looks like hair implant for tree 😁
Am I the only person who literally can't even get the easiest of plants to grow in my aquarium? Lol I have killed many plants. Even moss balls. But I really want a couple of these little trees so I'm going to try again🤗
