Many experts blame it on human error since the keel, which would counterbalance the mast, was not sufficiently lowered and this resulted in the capsizing of the vessel. There are also reports that portholes were left open.
A friend drilled a hole in bottom to dispose of a small old boat outside the harbour entrance, to avoid disposal cost. Surprise, Boat had built in positive flotation, and would not sink. Then the coast guard came along to check on the half sunken boat. = Maybe they said they drilled a hole in the bottom to let the water out.
Man you gotta keep those hatches sealed. I heard that the vessel had the world’s tallest mast, or something to that effect. The taller it is, the more wind it can collect. Sad story.
This is the kind of thing that Navy SEALs (or their SAS equivalent) do. Basic amphibious assault tactic: quietly swim under boat, put hole in boat, swim away.
They should outline the conditions that could cause it to sink, instead of labelling it as "unsinkable" . For instance, a boat made out of foam, can sink if parked beside a large ship and the large ship happens to drop it's anchor on it and drags it to the bottom.
