  • Tipperary's Pat Fox is the subject of this programme. Pat played senior hurling for Tipperary from 1980 to 1996 but it would be 1987 before the county renewed their place at the top table. He was a deadly corner-forward between the years 1987 to 1993, especially in 1991, when he was Hurler of the Year. Contributions also from Pat Fleury, Dónal O'Grady and Joe Hayes.

Them Tipperary vs Cork games were out of this world. Funny wee story, the 1991 game I had to work at my das ice cream van at the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. But I had Michael on full blast on the radio in the back ground for the commentary. People kept coming over to the old van asking me for the score and updates but it was so insane of a match at the end up there must have been 10 or 15 people gathered up around me to hear the game. Michael O Muircheartaigh was going ballistic with excitement. I’ll never forget that memory. In my garden I’d pretended I was Pat Fox bursting the net and scoring razor sharp points torturing defenders to the roars of Michael in the background. Such an influence this man had on me.I always wore number 13. So glad I came across this Pat comes across so humble. Hope I get to meet him some day.

I mine watchin that replay in 91 an I cursed Fox out one time I thought he should have went for the kitchen but he took the point a cool head he chipped away an then they were back in it , a mighty game but Cork near had it at the end from the 75 it dropped in an the boy got the hurl te it an it trickelel past the post the keeper flat footed watchin .Teddy Mc had a monstrous game that day te he run outa steam with 15 or so go .An yes I remember the lad sprinting with the oul fella in the wheel chair out te the 50 with the wild invaders after a late score it might well abeen the oul lads last outin but be jasas it was a good wan .Glad they done this show your a Legend Pat an ye lived up to the name Fox in em days ye were King of Cashel an carried the trickery of the Tuatha De Danann.I always rooted for Tipp sept when they played Antrim.Greeting from Tyrone.

My nickname on the school team was “Pat Fox” as I played corner forward. Truth be told my friends were having a laugh at my expense. Pat was razor sharp great player.

Yes its strange because they had some partnership and understanding of each other on the field. Both West Tipp men. Nicky must have been unavailable at the time of filming (could have been gone on holidays). Thats the only explanation i can come up with
