i think this ending goes farther than him reconnecting with his family, i think once dwayne finished his purgatory and witnessed what he caused the families to go through, he was allowed to see his family one more time before getting taken to hell (as he gets pulled back in the very end)
So, I’m a bit confused. What did the mask do? Was it a symbolism of reconnecting to his past self? And was he dead this entire time and had to relive the nightmares from the past ghosts to seek redemption with his wife and children? And were they killed by him before, because I do remember the killing intro 2 years ago, but they skipped that in the full game from what Nokzen played.
the mask symbolize the protection against guiltness. Saludos , espero haberte ayudado.
@@lakersaregolden5446 Dwayne's arc is one of redemption, which is heavily influenced by his Catholic faith. His involvement with MK-Ultra led a lot of people to live out short, agonizing lives. Said people would return as the ghosts scattered throughout the game. Wracked with guilt, Dwayne started to self-medicate, growing distant from his wife and children as he did so. Until one day, he snapped and killed them. He feels he cannot move on until he's gone through several trials, such as living out the pain afflicted upon, for lack of a better word, his victims.
The mask is symbolic of Dwayne's ultimate redemption after suffering for his past misdeeds by experiencing the pain and suffering of those he had hurt as a result of MK-Ultra. It's a mirror that may be a reflection of those horrors, now fully internalized in Dwayne's experiences.
It's not on the soundtrack. I pulled it out of the game though, it's called "Everlasting Veil of Fog" -- if you can't find it with a tool, jump on the Visage Discord and find me and I can send it your way.
There are four VHS tapes scattered through the house. And an additional three you get completing the other chapters. So seven in total. Each tape hints where to go to get a mask piece, and tells more about Dwayne's story.
@@Nate-Slays-The-Spire I’m missing one picture frame from the indifference tape, I found all the others scattered around the house but I don’t recognize the one hint it gives with all the specks of light.. it’s driving me crazy!
So the guy goes through life doing multiple terrible things that harm multiple individuals before he takes a gun and kills his family and himself only to just be “forgiven” after wondering around and doing some things! This is laughably stupid!
I interpreted it differently. He was involved in project MK Ultra and definitely carried some guilt, which lead to the murder suicide. But at the end, when he sees his family, the camera gets "yanked back". I don't think it's as simple as reuniting with his family. If anything, he got to see them once more for "atoning his sins", but I don't think he ended up where his family did. He's already made a trip to hell once prior, and I think based on the dialogue with the man in the mask, I think that's where he ultimately ends up. But this is also the kind of story that's very open to interpretation, so I don't think either of us are right or wrong in the conventional sense.
Also, this is not something the average player can find. But during the credits sequence, if you camera hack, you'll see four nooses, with three hanging bodies. One of the nooses is empty. Probably a smaller Easter egg hint implying Dwayne is ultimately NOT with his family.
@@Nate-Slays-The-Spire If you interpret this from the perspective of a Catholic (which I am), the purpose of Purgatory is to cleanse you of your sins before you are united with God. If this was Purgatory, which is a reasonable take, then Dwayne purified himself by getting the mask and goes to Heaven. No one goes to Purgatory to wind up in Hell. The only thing that wouldn't make sense is that he committed a mortal sin by shooting himself, so for this to really be about Purgatory, Dwayne would have to be alive long enough to ask for God's forgiveness after shooting himself.

I fully agree with you. I've interpreted it that way since day 1.
I hope they make a chapter 5 as DLC with Rose the neighbour
I kept looking outside the windows expecting something or someone to be out there lmao
I hope so

Папич был так близок к этой концовке =(
Does anyone have the music for when he is looking at the mask or going through the final door?
It's called everlasting veil of fog. Peter put it on his sound cloud but it's also on youtube.
What is the name of the ending song I can't find it
