At last - we're caught up! Thanks again to everyone for all the support this last week, I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. This was the best episode of the cour so far - there's just so much to talk about it, and the ending is perhaps the most excited for Bleach I've been in ages. There was so much excitement in this episode!! The great adaptation of Kisuke and Mayuri’s discussion, Shinji getting more screen time with his bankai reveal, and the Soul King eyes on Ichigo… All the new material we’re getting has me very excited to see where this cour goes!
this might have been the best episode so far in the entire Blood War

Sorry but I do not belive your explication is right for the post credit scene. Ichigo is filled with power until he achives the Almighty and the Almighty shows him the past. Almighty could not be used if the posesor does not know the past.
Aizen and the Soul King seem to have a lot in common
It's a small detail, but I love the way Cang Du activates Bankai. He says it very quickly and quietly, without any pomp and circumstance. Almost as if he's ashamed to use it as a Quincy, and just wants to get it over with.
They really made Shinji the rizz master in this episode. And I’m all for it.

Shinji in this episode was like: "This is you Brain. THIS, is your Brain on Drugs." Also the OST's for his scenes were cool as hell.
Iblove it how Kubo is essentially taking all of the feedback from the manga (that essentially complained about the plot holes), and he is filling them in the anime. It is absolutely refreshing.
I loved the attention of detail they put into Hitsugaya. When he hollowfied his voice also sounds like it.

@@piotrj.451It kinda makes sense don't it? Soi fons bankai is just "Fuck that particular cluster of zip codes", a one and done use. Whereas Toshiros is formed around his body, and he was actively using his for longer.

Kisuke as always sure pulled quite the ace from his sleeve. And seeing Shinji's Bankai finally in action was excellent. No longer is it relegated to implications and offscreen action. The war sure heated up here.
I think the amount of Soldat affected by Shinji's bankai could've been doubled or tripled to the point where it'd be a bit of an ask for him to take them all on. As it was, he could've done so without *too* much trouble being a captain and all, but having to face on a hundred or so would've warranted it a lot more.

I think Shinji using Bankai on a bunch of casuals is very fitting. His abilities are all about reversal, specifically perception. But wouldn’t it also make some shred of sense if his Bankai-Shikai was also a reversal? Where most captains use shikai on the ruffians and bankai on their boss, Shinji uses bankai on the ruffians and shikai on their boss. I personally like it but just my opinion.
Maybe he was just happy to be able to use it at all lol. He's always got someone near, if I was him, I'd use it all the time when I was alone and able, why not? Otherwise, he'd never get to!
Nice interpretation. You can hear Shinji's thought be like "Can i use it? Can i use my Bankai? REALLY? BANKAI!"

I find it interesting that technically speaking, he could’ve used his bankai during the Arrancar arc against all of the Espadas to fight one another had he been the only one present after Yama sealed Aizen in the flames.
@@cution97 yeah, but don't they say, like with Soi Fan's butterfly insta kill, that you can't always impose your skill on the other if the reatsu level is very unequal? I doubt he's strong enough to impact them all that way.
Honestly Shinji and his bankai was the highlight of this episode I’m glad we finally got to see it in action
I think the whirlpools represent the 3 worlds and hell is at the center, the novels state that the noble families wanted to have a lid for hell, and this scene could represent the ritual to separate the worlds and close the gate
The two Hyourimaru colours feels like a call back to The Diamond Dust Rebellion.🤔

Hollowfied Toshiro has always been one of my highlights of this arc and im so glad they added the filter to his voice
One of the things that really got me excited about this after credit scene here was the shot of ichigo's eyes with the soul king's reflected back on them. To me, this sort of confirms that this process is conditioning ichigo to be the soul king's replacement. Throughout this arc we see the the number of pupils as symbol of the connection with the almighty or the power of the soul king himself, with the soul king having four, yhwach having three, and both pernida and mimihagi having two. As we later see mimhagi being able to hold the soul king, and the rest of the worlds in their current state, we can perhaps infer that this power is what is necessary to keep the worlds stable. So this ceremony is to imbue ichigo with that power. Beyond this however, the symbolism in this process is not lost on me, as in this shot ichigo doesn't have four pupils but five... food for thought
6:08 it actually seems like Iba is still outside the seireitei in this panel, which makes sense considering he was by the cave that komamura was in, but it’s interesting that they changed this

Cand Du lines of "First time seeing the bankai From that Side"
In my interpretation is Cang Du implying "Hitsugaya is experiencing or looking at Hyourinmaru for the first time on the dying side".
Or in short It's Hitsugaya's time to due by his Own Bankai.
Translations don't work so well if taken line by line. As there are a lot of cases the context before said line can explain better what the said line directly means.
The effect of the Hollow pill dis momentarily weaken the Quincues who stole the Bankai.
This is why BG9 was unable to dodge Jakuho Raikoben since he was momentarily stunned by the effects of hollow Reiatsu.
Candy was shown to cough up blood too, and bleed from where the wings crumbled up.
The Dome is colored basically dark red. So when it is daytime it would be Red.
And as it goes nighttime the Dome would be completely black.
The teaser trailers did show the environment having the Red Sky, to Purple to completely black.
It would also be fun if the anime will point out Bambi being defeated by a "Hot guy". As a nod to her killing off Hot Guys for Fun.
lets go! I loved the battle ignition for Shinjis bankai. rare Vizard W this episode, live it up.
Suì-Fēng AND Tōshirō likely was able to use Bankai in a near-death state because of their heavy training.
My favourite bit of the Bambi vs Shinji battle was the reversed subtitles & speach, great touch
My theory is, Soi Fon bankai don't changed because it is an false bankai, we know that the asaush can lie an tell the shinigame the wrong name of his/her power and thus causing they bankai be liberated incomplete (Renji is the best exemple of this)

I wanted to ask if u could do a what if Aizen never caused Urahara to leave the Gotei 13 video, I think it would be interesting to know what would have happened to Kisuke , like would he have been promoted to the 0 devision for his genius inventions,(tho i think Shunsui is the perfect Candidate for this role )I also think Kisuke as the head captain is a interesting concept that could be explored. I would like to hear you opinion on that
I have always interpreted Cang Du's statement of this being the first time seeing the Bankai from this veiwpoint, being generalized so including their first encounter as the fight never truly ended at that point and also assuming this is the first opportunity to make a comment. furthermore its from the perspective of what a defeated foe would see looking up at the Banki, while lying there battered and near death or worse.
In re-reading Bleach once again, something that stuck out to me as not really making sense is Yumichika not using his true shikai release of Ruri'iro Kujaku when Yhwach absorbs Reio. If it had been before the TYBW, I would've understood it because Yumichika at that point adheres strictly to the Eleventh Division ideals and so wouldn't want to release fully for fear of being found out. But during the final arc, he's shown to actively care about the lives of his comrades (not wanting them to die unnecessarily even if it is a battle) and understand the situation at large to some degree. If he had been in any kind of rational mind, he would've realized the ability of his full release to absorb enemy reaitsu would've been perfect for the situation. I'll never not think of that when I get to that part of the story again, since it's so ridiculous that he still holds onto the notion that people will look at him differently. I can understand Ikkaku not performing a bankai release since his was destroyed and it isn't even close to the pretty meager power it had before. Yumichika on the other hand, I really don't see any possible reason that would make sense.
I like how you explain things in detail and give your own observations
To me the biggest highlight was at the end of the episode we get a close view of Ichigo's eyes during his training. Don't get me wrong seeing Shinji unleashing his bankai and actually doing something compared to the manga was also one of the biggest highlight. But when Ichigo reveals that he might potentially have the almighty, albeit probably not exactly and obliviously not the same extent as Ywach considering he just discovered, I was like only sh*t. Like that is a huge deal, and the anime watchers only don't even realize how significant it is. This could change how the series might end from the manga and answer all our questions.
This allmighty theory is completely wrong, Tommo said in the video, Ichigo had these pupils in a brief moment to have these visions, this training place made that possible, don't confuse one thing with another.

@@felipez3115 Also worth noting that if you look above and under Ichigo's eyes in that scene, you'll see the Almighty eyes overlapping with his entire face, which definitely implies it's a reflection of Reio's eyes rather than Ichigo gaining them.
Shinji's, and probably the rest of the Vizards hollow powers aren't tied to their Zanpakuto like Ichigo's powers. At least, it's never been stated or shown to be like his. Probably because Ichigo was born with the hollow powers while the Vizards weren't.

This was a great episode. Shinji was the star for me and the post credit scene was very interesting & exciting.
Hopefully we get to see multiple Voll Stern Dich forms if only briefly. It would be so egregious if Yhwach allows BG9 and Cang Du to activate their holy forms only to call them back and have them killed. Crossed 🤞🏽 fingers that doesn’t happen.

Seeing this episode makes me want a Bleach VR game. The explosions, the huge torrents of ice, a bunch of factions, they could easily make a first person version. First person looking at a zanpakuto, or bow or whatever weapon resureccion. Imagine playing as Ichigo from first person attacking with getsuga tenshou. There are already anime vr games.

It would be interesting if it was the Soul King himself asking Ichigo to end him.
Yhwach said that it was the Quincy blood in Ichigo that compelled him to strike down the King, but what if it was the King using whatever power to ensure he is cut down by someone who could take his place.
What a stellar episode! Some of my fav characters getting some major love, all in 1 episode. From Mayuri's sun suit going all rainbow colored, to Hollofied Toshiro, to Shinji's crazy-ass Bankai, it was all such a treat for the eyes. Hollofied Toshiro is something I have been looking forward to for such a long time n boy did it look gorgeous. Mayuri's suit is also such a cool thing to look at. But Shinji's bankai reeeeally did it for me. Not only is it crazy as hell, and not only was it also awesome to see, but that music boooyyyyyyyyu. Holy crap. Also him just toying with Bambi. I watched that episode 3 times back to back, and rewatched Shinji's bankai like 8 times, that music hits so good, as does all of his music and the Vizard theme. This is easily my favorite episode of Bleach in recent memory, and easily one of my all-time fav episodes friggin EVER. I cannot stop geekin over that amazing bunch of awesome! 100000000/10

I think Ichigo seeing the memories of the Soul King and the Original Sin and then having his iris' reflected on Ichigo is more a matter of the Soul King in a sense inhabiting Ichigo's body as Ichigo is hewn into an ideal vessel via the Irazusando.
I loved watching this episode. Despite being shafted for most of the series, Shinji’s always been one of my favorite characters, from his introduction in the story to his initial orange shirt design. Finally seeing him use his bankai and giving him more to do was a massive highlight for me.
I also like Ikkaku and Hisagi putting up more of a fight, I haven’t read the manga in a while but I’m pretty sure they were just fodderized. Even though we know they’re going to lose, it’s nice to see them have a decent moment.
And then we’ve got the Soul King, the biggest mystery of all. I’m so hyped for the story going forward. Now, we can finally have more information about the god-like figure everyone wishes to dethrone - from Aizen to Yhwach.
Sidenote: the soundtracks were straight burner finger - 🔥
Amazing episode
This is a pipedream, but one way to segue Shinji's expanded fight against Bambi back to the cannon events would have been for the other Bambis to show up, and Shinji's Bankai backfiring by making them forget their petty hatreds and actually work together. It would be cool and flashy, but also effective foreshadowing of Gisel's casual betrayal of Bambi. In the short term, this unexpected reversal against Shinji gives Komomura a reason to come back and help, and Shinji's defeat leaves the rest of the Bambis free to abandon their leader again, setting up the cannon fight.
Thank you for your video, and extended coverage of the final scene: at times a quite melodic and poetic tone to that coverage. Very well done.
Shinji's bankai felt lackluster, but his shikai was dope. But I'm with you man, its crazy we're getting new Soul King stuff. Always thought Kubo would keep it in the dark knowing him

Tommo remember the vizards still have the same mind set taht Ichigo have previously where the hollow powers and the shinigame poweers are diferente powers, and keep preventing both of completelly mergin like Ichigo did.
A really cool but small detail when Cang Du flies down and starts kicking Hitsugaya is you can hear him using the iron in his feet to break the ice wings
You have to remember that Shinji and the others are incomplete/failed Visoreds. They have hollow powers inside them, but it isn’t mixed with their Zanpakuto. We only ever see them use their masks to augment their physical abilities, but we’ve never seen it affect their Shikai or Bankai. My theory is that Shinji has hollow reiatsu, but his Zanpakuto is pure Soul Reaper.

Just a small thing, you say that Hisagi has bankai already at this point, but if we take Can't Fear Your Own as canon he hasn't unlocked it yet. In the third book we experience the first time he actually use it according to Hisagi himself and it is obviously after TYBW.
The problem is, in the manga it is mentioned he alrwad have bankai but dont have an oportunidade to use it during the war. This is one of the things that make the novels not so canon to me.
first time using it doesn't necessarily mean first time awakening it.
edit... Rukia and Renji both have new bankai forms, they've trained with them but their first time usage would be against As Nodt and Masked.
I believe Isagi said he didn't get a chance to use it during the war, meaning he had it then.
@@gabrielrasilva He doesn’t say he had mastered bankai doing the war, just a long a time ago and that he haven’t had an opportunity to use it since. And it seems nobody present has ever seen him use it. All of that matches up fine with CFYOW as it takes place just months after the end of the war.
@@revenantronin8377 As I already said to another poster, he never said that he had bankai doing the war, just that he had it a long time ago. And don’t know if you have read CFYOW, but we literally see the moment he awaken his bankai from his point of view. There is no ambiguity there.

This was an episode that was just fantastic. I loved every thing the did in the episodes. The best one so far. Again, i really love how this is going. The fights are good as well. And I do think the pace was perfect. I think 3 or 3.5 episodes per episodes are perfect. Plus, I doubt it, but seeing more Espada would be very neat.

Did you know that the zanpakuto power that Aizen pretended to have was Shinji’s Bankai? Call back to Isane’ reminding Aizen what he had told her in the past that his zanpakuto was a running water type that confused enemies to attack each other using the water’s reflection.

hey tommo what did u think of the music playing as shinji released his bankai? i loved it that is my favorite version oif the tune so far, something about that japanese guitar mandellin or whatever instrument it is with the flute or ocarina its beautiful, its the kind of music that reminds u just how ancient music really is.
It's fitting that Hirako and Aizen, Captains of the 5th, both have reality altering Zanpaktou. Even if we don't know Aizen's Bankai.

The way Yumichika's fingers obscure the view of the pill, it might be they wanted us to think that Yumichika has a Bankai and he would be using it alongside Ikaku in a few new scenes.
I think it wouldn' t make sense that the shield membrane BG9 has is his Vollständig because acording to Bambietta you can't use the holy form while owning a bankai. Considering BG9's surprise to Soi fon activating bankai after the use of the shield membrane that logic would be flawed

Personally, I think nothing has changed in regards to the soul king. With the full-open irises over Ichigos eyes and your idea that he is imprinting or passing down these visions to Ichigo, I think that that's what the process looks like to him.
Like this kind of mind-world type thing and that's why it's heavily symbolic.
The limbs fading away would be the end of the splitting and the soul king essentially having his "snap back to reality" moment.
I will note that I'm still on the first book of cfyow do I'm missing the context of the scenes you're talking about.
Tldr: soul king is showing ichigo a metaphorical retelling of the split, not the actual ritual.

What if the show of Reio standing in front of Ichigo when his limbs fell off is symbolic of how later Ichigo will kill him. When Reio reaches with his hand towards Ichigo it looks like he's still holding that sword-like thing as if he's offering it to Ichigo so he slice him down and end his misery.
I hope, if and when more of the truth of the soul king is revealed, we get a scene where the noble houses discuss said truth. Not necessarily in a meeting like in CFYOW, but, like parents passing down the knowledge of the original sin.
Would be a cool way to give the Shihōin captain from the original Gotei a scene or two. Maybe even have Ginrei passing down the story to Sōjun as a child and then the two of them dying before they have the chance to tell a young Byakuya.
But that might be going a step too far👀

The episode revealed that the BG9's schrift is K, which I assume could be The Knowledge since he collect data and stuff.
We always knew it was k, but there is no confirmation of what the k stands for.
Wait. Didn’t cross my mind to think about shinji taking a hollow pill. I’m assuming he needs one because his inner hollow isn’t apart of his zanpakuto like Ichigos is ?
I really hope they'll show Cang Du and BG9 volstanding, I'm telling myself that if they'll not show it, they would have cut the panels where the lights come out of them
i don’t think it’s weird that shinji had to absorb the pill. i’ve always understood that his hollow and zanpakuto don’t mix. unlike ichigo, the vizard’s hollows are different beings from the zanpakuto, so if a quincy were to try the medallion on shinji, they’d get the zanpakuto, not the hollow.
I assumed the "wings" behind BG 9 were him assimilating her shunko technique and using it himself
It would be really crazy if both Hisagi and Yumichika as they were prepared to say "bankai", Mask shut them down, leaving the audience really hypped! It's really a shame for Yumichika not have a Bankai at this point, or even hiding his Shikai power in this war, both Ikaku and Hisagi know about it!
Incredible analysis as always, The interpretation of many people in this part of Ichigo's eyes is completely wrong, they are thinking that Ichigo will have allmighty and it has nothing to do with that, glad you said right about that.

My idea for why it took longer for hitsugaya vs soi fon to retrieve bankai is the fact it was active when reclaimed 😊
I think i noticed Ikakkus blade breaking and flying downwards right towards the camera
The image you've got there of the Soul King's eyes in the manga shows the 4 irises. Their eye shape is more narrow than Ichigo's so the pupils are hidden (or have expanded to swallow the whole iris). You're seeing the sclera between the 4 irises forming a cross, not a white cross iris and black sclera.
I kind of wish Soi Fon got a Hollowfied Bankai as well. I could totally see her face shield becoming like a Hollow Mask.
I figured that Shinji just took the pill as a precaution on the off chance that his default Hollowfication wasn't enough to keep his Bankai from being stolen
Saying this episode only adapted less than 4 chapters is a bit misleading. The pacing was still very fast because on top of those chapters it has numerous original scenes which the runtime also had to accommodate. So this episode isn't exempt from the blistering speed that has come to be associated with the TYBW anime. Shinji's bankai absolutely felt like an afterthought that they squished in where they could as fanservice.
I also noticed how incredibly good that shot of toshiro on the ground was. Though when you put the pictures of the manga next to the corresponding frames in the anime it shows that the anime art still isn't quite on the level of the manga even in the still shots, with the exceptions of backgrounds. But thats not a problem. It just reinforces that nobody can do it quite like kubo. On the topic of background one thing i can never fault about this anime is the background art. I think the buildings here are often CGI and it looks great but the 2d drawn backgrounds are always magnificent. The artists doing that and shiro sagisu have never missed.
This has to be said. The current likelihood is that they plan to not animate can't fear your own world. There is much evidence to support this. To begin with one from this episode, in CFYOW its revealed that shuhei never actually achieved bankai in TYBW. He only unlocked it in the middle of battle in CFYOW. If he has one in this arc then that is a difference from the previously accepted canon. The biggest one is shinji's bankai. They showed it here and not only that but he says the same line as he does when he uses it in CFYOW.. That is such a weird choice unless its just something he says every time he uses bankai. And everyone who was certain those flashbacks were tokinada have now been proven wrong.
Honestly looking at cang du's hand to hand in the anime comparing it to the manga makes it seem even worse. Look at how much impact his hits have in the manga. His kicks seem like little love taps by comparison in the anime. I can't agree that it was well executed. And i won't accept only seeing their holy forms. They must fight in them too. Then I will forgive pretty much every gripe I have with this season so far.
Theres no explanation for why hozukimaru didn't pierce mask's face other than censorship. We know his ability can regenerates severe wounds such as cuts. He restores his eardrums. It sucks but its censored. Notice how when bambietta blows up a shinigami his body is obscured in smoke to hide the wounds, when shinji beheads a soldat his head doesn't come off and it zooms out and becomes a silhouette. Heavy censorship in this episode compared to others sadly.
