Excuse my French I fuckin love John KRUK. Am a 64 year old man born and raised in north Philly. And the first time I saw John come up to bat for the Phillies. He said something to the catcher And umpire and they both started laughing hard. Never knew what he said but for them to laugh like that. I thought this is one really cool dude. And him sliding into a base am sure you just saw him face plant into the dirt and come up short of second base. But he became one of the best hitters in Phillies. And John is still with the Phillies doing play by play. And watching a Phillies game now days. There's nothing like it. One of the best lineups in baseball. One of the best teams in baseball and the great John KRUK to tell us stories about when he played or just about whatever. I laugh during the Phillies games now and I go crazy while the Phillies keep on winning.

As a Phillies and Padres fan, I love Kruk! He made watching both teams so much more "interesting". My favorite Kruk story: One day a woman came up to him and said, "You don't look like an athlete." John responded, "Lady, I ain't no athlete...I'm a baseball player!"

I knew him as a little leaguer. They intentionally walked him nearly every time. His name is pronounced "Crook", but the national media changed it.

From 87-90 the Padres had some of the best players of the 90's come up through their organization. Too bad they pretty much did zero with them. Well they traded them away if that counts. They included Roberto Alomar, Bip Roberts, Sandy Alomar, John Kruk, and Benito Santiago.

Yes, in ‘92, they weren’t that good, but in ‘93 they were one of the best teams to not win The Series. They were called "throwbacks," "misfits," "rejects," "outlaws," "wild," and "crazy,” and they were almost Series Champs.
