Crestwood my brother stop. He just started working for the MTA ,I sure will tell him about conductor Train man Paul 😊. Hopefully he’ll see him one day! God bless you Tim
Paul is an awesome conductor. Always fun back when he was on the New Haven Line either getting on one of his trains, or having one of his trains pull in whilst railfanning. 😁
@@3985uprr 95% sure it goes back to Danbury as #1882, the last Danbury Direct. I have seen the same equipment on both trains every time I have seen both on the same day. Usually I don't stay for #1882 however because it passes at 8:25. I don't understand why Metro-North has no 7pm hour Danbury trains but a very late 8:01 to Danbury. It arrives at 10! I believe the equipment comes off of #1867 when it terminates at South Norwalk.
At 34:33, you are correct in saying that restaurant looks like a station, that’s because it was once the former New York Central/ Penn Central Katonah Station!
I live in Florida I went up to New York to see my father family and friends. I was going to see my aunt and my uncle in Yonkers NYWhen I was in New York City 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue that’s where Grand Central Terminal. I saw Conductor Train Paul. I love trains. Of course I took a picture of him.
@@3985uprr Probably, I looked at the schedules and that would make more sense. All of the New Haven Line trains that terminate at Harrison keep running to Stamford Yard. It does not make make much sense to me because they have to operate so slowly because they get put on the local tracks. Yesterday the New York Railroad Enthusiasts showed your documentary on the LIRR in 2019 and it was great!
Thanks for sharing an excellent video. Very interesting. We really need Train Man Paul on our trains here in Australia. It would certainly make travel a lot more interesting.
@@3985uprr I was quite impressed with the scenery between Southeast and Grand Central. Despite being a city, the scenery there looks quite rural with all the green surroundings to the line. It reminds me of the Glen Waverley train line here in Melbourne Australia.
Random comment here but: If anyone ever wanted to model Grand Central in Train Simulator, the NYPL has at least half of a longitudinal section available at original resolution (consisting of 2 pages) - and the other half of this longitudinal section + track diagrams from the station's construction available, but at a tiny resolution unless you wanna shell out $50 per page. Ugh.
I remember that big Metro-North accident where two trains on the same track collided on the New Haven line in 1988 near New Rochelle, the front car on one of the trains jumped up and got tangled in the catenary wires, sparks flying everywhere, Metro-North and Amtrak service was an absolute mess that day, OMG!!!
Retired railfan, this was an awesome video I really hope I get to train (pun) with train man Paul after taking my upcoming test for metro north railroad in the future months or at least operate an m3 or m7 with him aboard 😀 👍. It be pretty cool to see you both aboard..for the ride. Hope you doing well healing up fast. And shout outs to John Terry 🙌 lirr if I got that correct and ghost engineer. Dammmm Train Man Paul is the coolest engineer, conductor. Keep them coming my Bro. More Life. More Health ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m forever a huge fan of yours. What a fulfilling great ride hehe.
Absolutely a fun and interesting ride!! Conductor Paul is very adept at his job and poetic humor. Great scenery too!- My only experience on this line is to/from White Plains. Thanks RR for posting this video😀😀💚💚
What was the reason behind the cancellation of the Putnam line? I did a little research online and saw the map. it looks quite the route. They should bring it back.
Very entertaining ride! It’s fun getting a different perspective on riding suburban rail transit elsewhere. I’m a lifelong Chicagoan who’s always accustomed to riding the Metra and C.T.A., but always wanted to see what it’s like to ride the suburban rails in N.Y.C. Thank you much!
Excellent !! Shooting video from the rear cab sure beats the lousy shots out of a side window. Especially dirty side windows with the Sun shining on them. Since the conductor was so friendly and agreeable, I wish you would have asked him to take a few minutes of you. Many of us would like to see what you look like...if you match what we imagine you look like from the sound of your voice. By the way, we don't call that "left-handed running". We call it 'wrong rail'. Years ago, I was fortunate enough to have ridden the old New York Central electric MU cars with the openable windows and the 'walk-over' rattan seats. Did you ever have the thrill of riding packed trains of those cars coming out of New York City in the P.M. rush hour on a hot summer evening with all of the windows open !! The whine of the gears and traction motors was exquisite, at speed along the Hudson River all the way to Croton-Harmon. A thrill I'll never forget.
Don’t go by the sound of my voice. I hardly look like Rock Hudson. 😀😀. If I have a dirty window I try to recover the scene with my commentary, otherwise it would be a lousy and boring video. In case you are curious. ruclips.net/video/LOW7f_gQX_Y/видео.html
Yes, and when here, visit me. We don't have direct train service from New York City to Atlantic City, unfortunately. Yes, that would be awesome if it could be done. Many years ago, when I had passenger rail service returned to the Atlantic City Line, Amtrak ran trains directly from NYC to Atlantic City. It required a tricky reverse move at Shore Interlocking. Sadly, Amtrak pulled out of the Atlantic City service in a cost cutting move. Ridership was never what had been predicted. The trains Amtrak ran from Atlantic City directly to Washington, D. C. were packed. I still remember how crowded the Atlantic City Terminal was when those trains were boarding.
So nice to see a train guy who so genuinely loves his job. Enjoying your channel and have subscribed. Nice to know the M3 trains are still running! P.S: I always enjoy your well-informed and enthusiastic commentary, but wind sometimes is very distracting. Have you considered getting a more effective wind-screen for your mic? It would definitely improve intelligibility in such conditions.
