I live 2 miles away from Toton and used to visit regularly in the 80s. It really is a shadow of its former self. It just looks like one big scrap yard. How depressing
This is a great video with lots of interest in it. What is deplorable is the amount of mothballed motive power. This should either be repaired and put back on the rails where possible, sold or scrapped.
I remember stopping off at Loughborough to see the class 60s rolling out of production and looking pristine. So depressing to see them looking so unwanted here at Toton.
no alot of these 60s are off to Loughborough and then coming back to Toton to have the engines sorted out its on the end of the line website Wabtec have brought them apparently see what happens at Toton.
Good news is...they are there for a reason and not in a scrappies...most will be restored...a lot back in uk use...and a lot exported to places like Bulgaria railways...
To say they were only built in the 90s all them 66s wasting away they been there since 2011 i think and there's supposed to be a shortage of loco's on out rail networks what a load of dogturd!!!
Fantastic video Kev. The amount of Class 60s there is shocking.
Criminal the amount of 60s stored there going to waste its a crying shame great video Kevin

Wow my jaw dropped at the amount of 60's parked up, what a waste
Brilliant video Kevin same with the Barrow Hill one. Shame about the 60's still wasting away but great job... Derek
What is even more astonishing is seeing 'Shed's' in store...
What people forget is that a lot of class 66's replaced the 60's. reason, reliability .
Give the 60,s to the heritage railways.

Shame that toton isn't really got anything going on anymore since the drop in coal traffic

Park in Banks Road NG9 by the roundabout/kids playground and walk through the bushes. Approx 30 secs walk
