From a pusillanimous one: it’s late in the day, I’m 87. The desire for some sort of virtue is alive still, but boy, my human nature resists it so strongly. This episode hits me head-on.

2x speed? I listen to Fr G. Pine (also Fr M. Schmitz) at 3x speed and it is magnificent!

Fathers, my only concern is that I fear your episode underestimates how few children hear the optimism that might lead them to do great things, albeit in the secular world. The secular call to greatness does not have to be viewed negatively. In fact, we can build on that call as believers to stress to our kids that they can do anything with the talents given to them by God. If a child isn’t told about the possibility of becoming an astronaut - or more likely in our times where many children grow up in broken homes without example of adults doing great things, are discouraged to seek anything but mediocrity - we would sorely miss out on the accomplishments of so many. I agree we can’t lift up the secular call to greatness as a false god, but so few today hear they can do great things. Disappointment by not achieving those things is not as harmful as never hearing the message one can do them in the first place.

Two people I choose not to listen to on anything other than 1x speed: father Gregory pine and father mike Schmitz. For the sole reason of wanting to absorb and understand every last work.

Big way vs little way. St. Therese who is known by others to never of committed a mortal sin, did all acts for the pure love of God. Reading her writings if it had been the will of God she desired great things for God. She is a doctor of the church. In this channel it has been mentioned that during the Reformation in England and Henry VIII, not one Dominican was martyred for the faith. I think the will of God is not an emotion of excitement but what we are willing to give up for the glory of God

When they said they attended a "seek event" My first thought was that they attended a "Sikh event". Perhaps that says something about me. Also, perhaps it says something about the state of affairs in the Catholic church today. I appreciate you Dominicans. I think if it wasn't for your teaching, I would already be headed to Eastern Orthodoxy.
