My grandpa was in a blue grass band in his youth. He made and played the dobro. i was so excited to hear it in your music. Love you guys. praying for you.
My Swedish Grandfather played the slide guitar. My grandmother and great aunt played mandolin. Together with a few other musicians, they provided the church music for their Protestant immigrant church, which, at the beginning could not even afford a piano. This was in the early 20th century. I have a great love for homegrown music of the past.
Thank you Hillbilly Thomists! I'm glad the Jesuits told me I'd never be a Jesuit as I left their seminary. (Sir 3:12-14) After Mass on Sunday, I lead singing/play guitar at a Memory Care unit for a Hymns and Sings session. Please know 20+ residents there can sing "Good Tree". I looked up the readings in the Bible, and tell them. They also like "I am a Dog," but that's tough for me to sing. The majority of residents are Catholics. I bring them Holy Communion on Fridays, as directed by Fr. Tim, St. Mary's Pastor. A time ago, they had Fr. Stu Long conduct Mass there Wednesdays and Saturdays. Please keep up the good work. Young and those young at heart like your music. If you're ever between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, please drop in. I can give you a tour of the 7th most lovely RC Cathedral in the US (2023 listing). God bless. PS I'm of the 3-chord & a prayer variety player.
I guess in order to audition for your band I need to become a Dominican first, correct? Seriously, thank you for enriching this wonderful musical genre with your cd's and original songs! My good friend John introduced me to bluegrass back in 1980, during our drive to a conference in Frederick, Maryland - given by Fr. John Hardon! John turned on the radio and we listened to "Stained Glass Bluegrass". So many classic bluegrass songs that I cherish to this day. A few years ago John gave me your first cd as a Christmas present, which had many of those classics that I love - thank you!
I saw part of a commercial for a movie with excellent actors for some tv movie about Cardinals, but boy did they have sour expressions on their faces. My very first reaction was, "Wow these guys don't know the priests on Godsplaining or any of the priests I've gotten to work with." I trained as an actress for twenty years and when it came to working in the theater, I loved rehearsing over and over but when it came to working in front of the camera, I found my best work was in the first three takes. I recommend that Fr. Peter learn to play the hurdy-gurdy if he hasn't yet learned that musical instrument. It's beautiful. God bless everyone that makes Godsplaining possible. I'm going to listen to The Hillbilly Thomists after I finish watching this video.
No matter what its variety, the marigold is rich in symbolism of Our Lady. The gold petals are likened to rays of light crowning her head, and the prodigal color is related to the generous giving of herself to God's plan.
Fr. Jacob, great interview. Thanks for bringing them on. I send my $$ to the DC House of Brothers-I don't trust the electronics. I am of the "pick up the phone" generation, possibly older than your Dad.
Oh man! I thought a live release was being announced, I’ve been enjoying this fourth album as much as the first three for some time now. As another person commented, a Christmas album would be fantastic!
Can confirm that kids/homeschoolers listen to Hillbilly Thomists. My children will request I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say but only your version ❤
Can confirm the kids love the Hillbilly Thomists

Marigolds do indeed get their name from Our Blessed Mother. Looking forward to the new Album's release!

22:30 amen. My son loves it and I do dishes to it. Nice to have clean fun music. ❤
Harp guitar: super trebils and low bass, 21 strings. Saxiphone? Oh my! I have a resident who would LOVE that!
