@@EmanuelSonka Cole Porter is my favorite composer. I am 80 and would love to have an Elferink as my last guitar but can't really afford it. Mr. Elferink told me he would let me know if he got a used Excalibur in - which he said rarely happens. I can understand that because who would want to part with one. :)
I really like the darker sound you get on this number. In the right hands, it's remarkable how versatile a one-pickup jazz box really is. As it happens, I'm exchanging emails with Frans now about ordering an Excalibur - all your fault ;) !
Thank you so much Alex! I completely agree with you about how versatile an archtop can be. So nice that you're in contact with Frans, he is such a great person, and always willing to bounce ideas etc. You're in for a treat for sure! I really recommend you to really think about the pickup selection, Frans offers several different options. I recently changed from the mini humbucker I'm using in this video to a DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1100 (Guilds reissue) I must say for my taste the guitar really came alive with that change, if you're curious check out my two last videos in which you can hear the same guitar but with a different pickup (although also the amp is different so an exact comparison is not going to be possible). Again thank you for listening, glad you enjoyed it! Take care and good luck with your new guitar adventure!
@@EmanuelSonka it's true. It's an amazing standard which allows a lot of renditions. I hear always the Adam Rogers version, like it in particular. Cheers Emanuel and ad maiora semper. Bravo.
First of all thank you Rodrigo, for you comment! I had a quick listen, in the first example I'm guessing you're referring to the line going down, it's over the V chord, and the sound I'm going for there is altered or as also called super locrian. In the second example it's basically all diatonic stuff with some chromaticism. I hope this was helpful, let me know if you have any other questions. Really appreciate your comment! Take care
