    It's the best pas de bourree tutorial I've seen. It's so detailed and helpful.
    Please make some more about other basic ballet movements!

      i'm so glad you found it helpful! i notice new students have the habit of crossing in back (it's more comfortable) so i really exaggerate crossing in FRONT here!

    Thanks a million for your analysis. I'd just started ballet....pretty late at age 28. I got into it because Ido Portal briefly mentioned that ballet has system for longevity of the legs. I come from a combat sport background and noticed my body is starting to take a toll (developing sciatica like symptoms). I discovered progressive ballet technique and it helped tremendously with reversing my nerve pains. I took my 3rd class and loved it. Right now I'm in the middle of learning how to learn, so i can better absorb ballet. I saw your other video on tandu/elevae and they are such a service for safe training. Thank you thank you thank you. I hope i can practice until the age of 80

      Awesome. I got 22 years on you and I recently started ballet myself. I have been taking adult classes for going on 3 years now and its the best thing I have ever done for myself. I just wish that I would of started at a much younger age, but doing fairly well so far. Best of luck to you!

      I totally could have written a lot of this post (except I am 33) coming from a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu background but that sport kept aggravating my knee in a damaging way. Ballet has been great for all of my joints and muscles.

    I found it very useful that you zoom on your feet and recorded it backwards, just like the instructors do it in a ballet class! That makes it easier to mirror you

      You’re such a good teacher to turn around for your students!! I had to ask my teacher to please turn around last night. With this move, my brain was spending too much time translating as she’s was facing me - just too difficult!!

    This is an excellent tutorial. I appreciate the methodical way you broke this down. It helps us do a very "clean" pas de bouree. You are a gifted teacher. Thank you very much!

    I am a beginner with a little bit of dance experience, and this is HARD! to piece together the releve and plies with the front and back, the counting and the ands. And the coordination. Imo ballet is for geniuses. ❤thank you for breaking it down. I’m so blessed to have found your channel ❤

    This is an awesome tutorial. I just started back into ballet as an adult and Pas de bourree has always been confusing for me. It seems so simple and then it’s just not! Haha, but this has helped so much!! Love your videos!!!

    OMGosh, THANK You a thousand times for your posts. I am a beginning adult ballet student. Actually, very beginning cuz the last time I dared dance was at my wedding reception 33 years ago! ... perhaps not untypical for a Caucasian male in American culture. So yes, I am very "adult" then too.
    I started ballet just six weeks ago, so mid November. I found a class that isn't full of pre-pubescent girls, so neither me or the other students feel completely awkward, at least not socially. Physically, though I feel completely awkward with foot and body movements, positions, etc. I am so grateful to have found your vids. for example two classes ago we had a short sequence with pas de bourree, and I was completely LOST IN SPACE! With your help, I can get through the steps, at least with an idea of what I should be doing.
    It is ABSOLUTELY fabulous that you begin your vid here with your rear toward the camera. Its like you know how confusing it can be for a beginner to try to follow along while having to reverse the demonstration. It is super encouraging to now have a sense that soon (with just a bit more practice) I will be able to do pas de bourree and balance without having to devote 110% of my concentration on what direction my feet should be going in.
    So, for me ballet is the new yoga. Its super hard and super fun. I am learning so much about my body parts that I have not put to use in so very long. Your efforts and videos have made a huge difference to me, and I want to thank you and offer this positive feedback! Matt

    Many classical ballet movements are performed in 3 times because ballet music is usually composed in a tempo of 3/4 (Also know as Tempo di Waltz)

    • @SaltySugarPlum
      @SaltySugarPlum  7 лет назад +2

      Minkus, who composed for Don Quixote, La Bayadere and Paquita doesn't use 3/4 very often. He seems to favor 6/8, 12/8 and 2/4. Tchaikovsky uses 3/4 but a lot of his ballet music is 2/4. Adam, who composed the music for Giselle and Le Corsaire also uses 6/8 a lot. most choreography repeats a similar movement about 3 times, but that can be for any time signature. not everything in ballet is a waltz. aside from pas de bourrée (which is essentially a waltz step if you spin it around) pas de basque and balancé, almost no other ballet movements are limited to a 3/4 count.
