please explain why the celtics are outbidding themselves with record breaking supermax to Tatum and Brown? most people agree they are second tier talent. celtics 2024 success is founded on the strength of the supporting cast and overpaying Tatum and Brown inherently makes it unsustainable to keep that support team strength. supermaxes are intended for teams to retain generational superstars such as Curry, Doncic, Jokic, Durant. that's been the NBA model to put role players around 2 superstars. the celts will have no superstars, but will be paying two superstar contracts and shooting themselves in the foot for the future
